No not "on" him..no way. But compared to the way he's been, it was "human", that's all. Game was on the offense, RP, imo.

Of course they get away with it.
I think people dont get the gist of stereoids.
Its not to hit more hr. Its not to recover from injury. Its not tk get bigger faster stronger. Its not to win games.
Its to get a fatter contract.
And dee gordon got away with it.
    Like they all do.
    You want to stoo peds?
Make all contracts null and void if the player tests positive.

TTTT, I almost didn't read the article because of the opening hyperbole. "one of baseball's biggest stars?" Mike Trout is one of baseball's biggest stars. Clayton Kershaw is one of baseball's biggest stars. Bryce Harper (no matter how much I dislike him) is one of baseball's biggest stars. Are you seriously gonna tell me you are gonna throw Dee Gordon in the same company as those guys cause he had one really good year (that may now be tainted)?

Well then, Mat Latos and Neil Walker just became two of baseball's biggest stars.

That's already been discussed and deemed impossible because the Player's Union exists. The players would never agree to something like that.

    Money.
In everything that is good and holy money has to mess it up.
You make banking become the most valuable profession and bankers will cheat.
Start paying anual salaries to pastors that are more than what most of their church goers make in 3 or 4 years and they will cheat.
You make athletes grossly overpayed and they will cheat.
Its not the schedule or insecurity or injury risk... Its money.
    Too much damn money.
Yall wonder and scratch your heads as to why a player and a good guy like dee would sully his name... Why he would risk suspensions and reputation hits.
    Money.
It blinds and is your enemy.
And the more you throw around the more insidious the atmosphere becomes.
Nobody neads these millions to live or to be fairly compensated.
An athlete can be great and live off of 150k a year.
If a person cant make ends meet making that much then he has real problems.
My favorite players are dudes like sandy koufax and barry sanders.
Or kobe bryant on the other spectrum.
If you dont like the job. Dont enjoy the grind. If the season or its length interfere with what you feel is more important to you. If you dont want to keep dealing with nagging injuries or the risk of major ones.
    Retire early. Its an option.
Make a ton of bucks and spend wisely. Save up. Live out your life happy how you want to live.
Work is a means to an end.
    Its not life.
Its not about how much you work or how much you make.
If work bothers you and you have made a good amount of cash and can retire... Then stfu and go away and live happy.

Or if you love the grind or love the cash then stfu and play till they gotta boo you off the floor or praise you in the past tense so you realize its time to get out clean while you still can.

Money clouds judgment more than smoke and mirrors.
Weed and coke are strong but not as strong as being poor and needy.
Because some of the highest paid membera of our society are the poorest most needy babies out there.
Cuz like a hot fire brick oven they just want more more more pies.
When pizza by the slice is the way to go.

Sports die because of greedy owners or greedy players.
    But they bounce back.
Took baseball a bit to come back the last time it was pronounced dead. But it came back.
Sometimes you have to cut off the member of your body thats got cancer before it spreads to the marrow. Once your inner juice gets corrupted then your spine is as good as broke. And while you still alive you just a spineless blob waiting for the spreading cancer to kill you slowly.

All these articles saying Dee Gordon is a shock to be using PED' s because he is not a home run hitter miss the point. He was a 170lb infielder who could barely get the ball out of the infield who suddenly developed gap power, hitting it to the wall for extra bases.
And I agree with those that say Dee probably needed it more to make it through a 162 game grind without his body breaking down.
    In the end, Fuck Dee.

This is where PEDs come full circle. It was largely because of steroids and epic home run totals that baseball was saved from the last shutdown.

The biggest misconception is that team owners are against steroids or they feared mutiny of the fan base. Testing was only implemented in baseball because the Feds threatened a takeover due to blatant violation of drug laws. That's it, end of story, not a single mlb insider gives a fuck about juicing and I don't care what quotes and claims they make publicly.

And if you think mlb is handcuffed by the union, look into the minor leagues. Penalties are just as weak there and they have no union.

If a guy is 220, and then does roids, and shows up at 250 in ST, people look and say "whoa...roidin'- he got huge.
But if a guy starts out at 140, and puts on 30, and goes to to 170...no one even blinks. I think he had a substantial body change.
I also think the Dodgers knew he was using way back when...
    Just my tuppence.

    That's an inciteful post, imo.
Being that as it may, considering what has gone down with the suspensions and urinalysis on a regular basis, do you think owners still feel that way?
Steroids now cost them money (upon discovery), rather than make them money hand over fist when the asses are back in the seats to watch those epic HRs.

Cant say for sure on this but how much does it really cost them? If you're a contender and lose games during the suspension it costs in the standings but the player isn't getting paid. As a Yankee fan I don't think attendance has been affected by arod getting popped repeatedly and he would probably suck at his age regardless of what he shoves in his ass so I can't even argue him "being clean now" is the cause. I guess I could argue he got a big deal based on drug induced performance but giving him 10 years without any competing offer is on Steinbrenner and not the market for arod.

TV contracts really seem to be the gravy of mlb ownership income these days. Most teams seem to roughly draw the same attendance every year simply based on their market. Fuck the royals went from shit to ws winners and had a huge stadium renovation, their attendance doesn't show any effects.

At the end of the day, the owners don't really care about steroids. I'm sure they'd love to pass a rule allowing them to void contracts for anyone busted doing steroids. Any reason to void contracts is good for them. But if the risk is a strike and damage to their revenue and brand, steroids just isn't the kind of issue owners are going to go down fighting over.

Sure the owners "get screwed" now and then with a bad contract, but in the long-run that is just another risk assessed into every contract. The people who are actually getting screwed are the players not doing steroids who receive a drop in pay because the steroid users raise the bar.
