i usually don't root for anyone to suffer injuries
but with all we've had to endure this season -- just to get here
part of me almost feels it's fair/right that our opponents should have to go through it now

2016 NLDS: Michael Taylor, Ryan Zimmerman latest Nationals dealing with injuries
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 16 minutes ago

While the Los Angeles Dodgers skidded to a 1-5 record after clinching the National League West, the Washington Nationals are limping into the 2016 NL Division Series. Washington went 5-3 after clinching the NL East, which included taking two of three from the Miami Marlins over the weekend.

However, their final stretch of games came at a cost. All-Star catcher Wilson Ramos suffered a torn ACL that’s forcing him to the miss the postseason, and Jayson Werth was removed from Friday’s game due to back tightness.

Werth remarked that he didn’t believe the injury was serious, though the 37-year-old outfielder didn’t play in any of the Nationals’ final two games.

Meanwhile, Michael Taylor is said to have sustained a left thumb injury from a head-first slide in the fifth inning on Saturday. According to Bill Ladson of MLB.com, Taylor underwent an MRI:

Taylor had an MRI exam on his thumb Sunday morning to check if there was any ligament damage, but the results were not revealed as of early Sunday afternoon.

Results of Taylor’s MRI were not available as of early Monday morning. The 25-year-old began the 2016 with the Nationals, but was with their Triple-A affiliate from July 28-Aug. 28.

Taylor played sporadically throughout September and isn’t considered a lock to be on the Nationals’ NLDS roster even if he avoided serious injury.

In addition to Taylor, Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman and relief pitcher Koda Glover are dealing with some form of injury:

Ryan Zimmerman is dealing with a calf injury, but he is expected to be ready for the postseason. Koda Glover, who’s on the postseason roster bubble, hasn’t seen action this week because of hip issues.

Zimmerman did not play in Sunday’s regular-season finale. He hit .218/.272/.370, far below career averages, over 115 games. Zimmerman was particularly poor after the All-Star break, batting just .212/.247/.308.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker is hopeful second baseman Daniel Murphy will recover from a buttocks injury in time for Game 1 on Friday. Murphy lined out in a pinch-hit appearance on Sunday. Stephen Strasburg begun throwing but remains unlikely to return from a strained flexor mass in his right elbow.

Wow, I basically can't watch game 1 or game 2. Schedule the regular season games during normal times so people can watch but schedule the most important games at odd times so people can't watch. Makes sense.

I get off work at 3 on Friday and don't work Saturday. So I can watch both pretty much. But very lame start times.

We better get the prime time games when we're at home.

Lame start times across the board TBH. Designed so an unemployed person, who's not a fan of any team, can watch all the games. Even the Cubs game is a start time that's quite a bit later than what they would normally have.

I love the start times but I first thing I thought when I got the text from MLB.com is how much it sucks for you guys.

It's a crappy times lot for us, but 2 of the other slots are even worse, so really it's a problem as a whole. The times lots aren't even good for East Coasters, and Chicago makes out ok because it's a Friday night but otherwise it wouldn't even be an ideal start time for them. I'd much rather them just let the home team choose the time, after all isn't that part of home field advantage? So your fans can watch the game? Clearly it's a TV move so they don't all step on each other's advertising revenue. A bunch of suits in an office making retarded decisions because they're "smart".

Because everything before now was merely practice.

The season starts tomorrow with the bird fest between the Blue Jays and the Orioles
Our season starts the next day as we give all our juju to the Met's and hope Syndergaard rocks while MadBum melts
By Friday morning we'll have a much better idea of the fates that await us

It goes along perfectly with their overall theme to prevent us from watching the Dodgers at all

I'm selfish cause both those start times work beautifully for me but MAN, do they not give a fuck about some fans.

I've always wondered why they feel the need to separate them this way? How many people are going to watch the games ALL day, and the people who will watch those games all day, they'll probably be able to handle watching multiple games at once... Especially since baseball fans are accustomed to watching multiple games at once from the regular season.

Just seems like it would be cool to have multiple games in prime time.

feel like the only question for Friday's lineup is if Toles is healthy, he's the starter over Howie, right?

I'm trying to stay realistic and not too optimistic but check out Max's splits:

    Against righties: .156/.189/.288
    Lefties: .242/.315/.442

Not like lefties crush him but that's a significant difference and works to our advantage with potentially 8 lefties in the lineup

I'm going to record the game on Friday and turn off my phone and try to watch it without anyone ruining the outcome. Won't be home all day....wish me luck.
