Wow...Steiner sucks, Orel is an idiot, Monday is hated pretty much by everyone.
Is Joe Davis OK?Might as well get rid of them all then.
Can we keep Alanna Rizzo? Pretty nice rack.
    At least that's something...
Wow...starting pitching sucks...announcers suck...lineup obviously sucks...Dodger stadium sucks...so the only good thing then, is the FO.
    Puzzling though, really.

    Dodgers vs LH Starters: 2-6
    Dodgers vs RH Starters: 5-2

    A couple takeaways...

One, we don't appear to be any closer to solving our LHP issue. I should have known we were doomed when Aaron Boone picked us to win the NL West because "The Dodgers fixed their problem vs LHP". For the record, Boone picked the Padres and DBacks to win our division in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Two, we have faced more LHP this year than RHP. That's not by accident, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon. Why face the good Dodgers when you can plan your rotation and face the shit Dodgers? Until we become somewhat competent vs LHP, look for 50% + of our games to be against LHP.

You can accuse me of being too optimistic but I think we've started out okay against lefties with the results not yet there. Obviously scoring runs is the most important thing but, yesterday the lefty starter only went 4 innings, giving up 8 base runners (4 walks and 4 hits). Cashing those in is obviously the only end result that matters but getting baserunners on constantly typically leads to good results.

I'm optimistic the starting pitching will hold up and be replenished when Urias arrives.
    This LHP thing, I'm not.

You just said yourself the vs. LHP Dodgers are "sh**". The sample size is large. And 3-4+ times a week, our starting lineup is torn to shreds and populated with role players. It's scary. We are seeing spring training/get-away-day lineups every other night! Kike Hernandez, a guy who hit .190 last year is hitting 5th.

The starters (Puig, Forsythe, Turner) have hit into some bad luck, but Kike and SVS are just crappy hitters. Haven't shown anything in a long while

    :(

Maybe SC_Ed was right about you...:poke:

I get what you are saying, and I'm not jumping off any cliffs. We are hitting .228 w/ RISP, that should improve some. We have the highest Expected W-L in the league. We are 0-3 in 1-run games. This points towards us being unlucky to start the season. Of course, bad luck is one possible cause. Having a glaring deficiency (like we do against LHP) could also explain some of those stats.

I'm with you. We have played 8 games against LHP, the most in the majors. The next closest is Houston with 7, and after that no team has faced LHP more than 5 times. 3-4 times per week sounds about right and it will be like that all season. I will never understand our willingness to concede to our opponents like we do. Our FO is overthinking it so much that all another team has to do is throw any LHP out there, even a scrub.

Add Braun and Villar to the team and our problems are solved. We go to the World Series.

    Vs lefties
    2B Forsythe
    1B Villar
    LF Braun
    3B Turner
    SS Seager
    RF Puig
    CF Gutierrez/Pederson/Thompson
    C Grandal/Barnes

    Vs righties
    2B Villar
    SS Seager
    LF Braun
    3B Turner
    RF Puig
    1B Gonzales
    CF Joc
    C Grandal

Seager is a bad to mediocre hitter vs lefties and is worse this year but tolerable at SS, but with Villar we could rest Corey a bit more.
Turner on the other hand has improved tremendously vs lefties and is currently our best hitter alongside Forsythe.
Puig is average vs lefties and was our most consistent bat in the lineup in that dept last year but is our worst this year. Vs righties he is mashing as probably nobody in the game right now .433 .514 .933, which is an insane 1.447 OPS. He will most likely come somewhat vs righties and start hitting lefties back to normal.

We definitely should rest Corey, considering his age and all. Dude's getting up there now, and such a small, petite guy. He needs it. Fifteen games already....
And we are a great team...it's all good. No problems.

I also truly think that if the biggest problem come July is needing a lefty masher, it's not that bad to find one in the trade deadline. Finding an OF or IF who hits lefties well is much easier then finding one who hits righties well or needing a #1 starter. Carlos Ruiz did good against lefties in the postseason and he was pretty easy to find/get.

I still have hope for Enrique cause he's young enough and has shown mini flashes but Van slyke is probably not too far away from needing to be DFA'd.

It's incredibly incredibly annoying and frustrating and the sample is large enough to worry I just guess I think it's not bad as a #1 concern. Gutierrez needs to get healthy soon, he should help

might as well give them (and segedin) a shot
svs is garbage and should be sent to an al team or dfa'd
    kiké is a tool
always swinging for the fences when a base hit would suffice
the problem vs lhp is not going to go away
    we need help
    get braun

He has been in a gradual decline since 2009 but stayed a top 10 or better first baseman up until last year when he fell off a cliff. He's about done. Too bad he has another year after this one. You just know they will ride it out.

Some players can hit forever. David Ortiz, Beltre....others just age, understandably.

    here we go again
    • The Dodgers placed 2B Logan Forsythe on the 10-day DL with a fractured right big toe. INF Rob Segedin also went on the DL with a toe strain.
