It will be interesting to see how they handle Rios this year. They moved him quickly last season and he has handled it well thus far. Maggi is raking in AAA, but he's also a non-prospect so he shouldn't be blocking a guy who could be a potential big leaguer. Also, Rios going to AAA and doing well, could continue to build his trade value as a prospect.

I don't think there's a big future for him either but he is the third catcher on the 40 man roster which means he gets called up any time Barnes/Grandal go down and definitely in September. Being a 3rd catcher isn't something very important but could see him getting some at bats the next two years

Calhoun with another bomb tonight.... dude has been on a tear. I figured he was going to get off to a slow start with his ultra specified concentration on defense this spring, but his average stayed solid and now the power has joined the party. This could be a guy to start watching a bit closer.

I meant more of a guy just to pay more attention to for the long term. I've posted it a few times where scouts think that if he can play just league average D, he's a potential star with the bat. I think Fangraphs had him at a 4+ WAR bat. That somewhere drizzled in with Bellinger and Seager could be something else. Calhoun staying in AAA and honing his skills at 2B could be the best thing for him long term, too.

    Oh yeah for sure
I don't think this is a real surprise. He's always had huge bat potential. Could be our guy starting next year.

God bless Willie..Taylor comes out of nowhere looking like the 2nd coming of Craig Biggio. It´s one thing for LAD to add a 30yr old Forsythe who could be gone in a couple years or move to another position to allow you to fit in..it´s another thing entirely for a 26yr old Taylor to show up and show out. And the fact that Taylor is a righty among a lefty loaded org gives him even more shine. All Willie can do is keep working at it and hope Taylor falls off or that he eventually gets traded in order to find his opportunity

    Yadier Alvarez had a strong outing last night: 5IP, H, 0R, 1BB and 5Ks.

If you take away his dreadful first start, he has allowed 7 earned runs in 24 1/3 innings, 27Ks and 12 walks.

Last 15 games for Trayce - .304/.344/.536, all 3 of his HRs against RHP
17 strikeouts during the stretch tho, so still working through that

Manager Bill Haselman said the 26-year-old showed no signs of frustration.

“He’s the first one in to the clubhouse every day,” Haselman said. “He’s totally professional, and he’s been working real hard on his swing. If you didn’t know his batting average, you wouldn’t know (he opened the season in a deep slump).

Beyond Farmer, the org looks like they have started to slide some guys around with some promotions and releases sprinkled about, though nothing big as of yet. Edwin Rios is the most notable MiLB'er in the system that is probably due for a promotion, only that AAA is pretty full with 1B types. Maggi is the only thing standing in his way at 3B, but he is a non-prospect. With that said, his offense has been great in a pitcher friendly league, but there are multiple red flags here. Mainly that his D at 3B is AWFUL, he never walks and he strikes out a ton. I could see the team keeping him in AAA until the deadline if they are looking to use him as a trade chip and are worried he could get somewhat exposed in AAA.

Peter Gammons just mentioned Walker Buehler on The Rundown and said they may call him up to pitch in relief in september.

Buehler holds lots of promise when he can hit 100 mph. Of course if they're not strikes it matters little. Hope his control improves because I'd love to have our own 100 mph hurler in the post season.

If Buehler can't get 100mph over for strikes consistently, should just dial it back to 96-98 for better control

He tops out at 100 so he's normally in the range you point out. He's been working on his off speed pitches and needs to obviously to be a starter of any success but as debut in September in the pen why not. His last start he only struck out 2 but he also only walked 2 so maybe that was the result of lowering his velocity but I missed his last start. Won't miss his next one hopefully.

Or take a class on how to focus..

unless he doesn't possess the requisite gray muscle to do so
