Manfred is the idiot that thinks the bats are juiced instead of the baseballs or the players. Really, what does he know.

I wished we could reset the current situation on this debacle. Seriously, what is the issue now?

DirecTV not coming to the table under ANY circumstances? Time Warner willing to suffer crappy ratings because a lack of distribution?

Isn't there a win-win situation for both parties?

Not so much.. these telecom titans are mortal enemies keenly fearful of permitting turf encrochment all the while seeking every possible encroachment upon the other guy snake.

Direct TV / AT&T / Comcast / Charter / Cox squeal each year with delight about making TWC/Spectrum suffer again. More.
Work together and everyone makes some $$?

    Don't be a rube
Nah nothing doing, not a chance

This is the realm of divisional politics
The other guys stuff isn't just not as well featured
He is Satan and must be punished with every Karl Rove trick imaginable
    and Screw the Consumer
what choices do they have anymore anyways?
Old Joe Gallo tricks merely moved over to the telecom world
and all the FCC regulators have been bought and paid for
    long long ago

If they are all going to get greedy, then consumers will find ways to get games without paying, and third party individuals will be more than happy to set up streams and the like.

People decide to pay money for musics and movies when they were given access for a decent fee. Take away access altogether and there is no more incentive to get content legitimately. That's the line these idiots are walking.

But the Dodgers.....they are really not doing their fans any favors staying on the sidelines. It's the LA Dodgers....not the Time Warner or Guggenheim Dodgers.

the gift that keeps on giving

Here’s how Charter is screwing the customers it bought from Time Warner Cable
by Mike Wehner | BGR News — 3 hours ago

Earlier this year, Charter Communications finalized its deal to absorb Time Warner Cable and buy out Bright House Networks, becoming the second largest cable company behind the monolith that is Comcast. Well it seems as though lots of former Time Warner Cable customers are learning of the joys of being a Charter customer, complete with fancy new cable packages that happen to be more expensive than the ones they were already in. Oh, joy!

At the moment, just 30 percent of former TWC and Bright House customers have been migrated to Charter’s own pricing and package structure. Plenty of subscribers have reported pricing hikes, and Charter’s CEO has been bullish on the prospect of bumping the company’s acquired customers up to packages that will help boost Charter’s bottom line. Customers have reported price jumps of anywhere from $10 to as much as $40 or more, depending on their previous level of service with TWC or Bright House.

The overarching theme here is that Charter believes its newly purchased customer base wasn’t paying enough for their cable service to begin with, so they’re simply correcting things. Speaking to Ars Technica, a Charter spokesperson was predictably vague. “These customers have chosen to move into these packages, which provide a greater value compared to legacy packages,” the person reportedly said.

What’s remarkable about all of this is that the outcry from consumer has been deafening, and not even one-third of the acquired customers have actually been affected so far. The company plans to continue its gradual migration of TWC and Bright House subscribers into often more expensive Charter packages over the coming months, and it’ll be quite interesting to see how that all works out.

They're never going to sell the Dodgers channel to DirecTV. They're just going to keep putting the cost on to Spectrum customers. Maybe if SportsNet LA went 4K and added another team to its lineup, DirecTV could justify the cost of taking on SNLA. Don't see it happening

I was paying 14.99 but Time Warner raised it to 19.99 last year I believe during the Spectrum changeover.
Last month it went to Charter and it's now 39.99 I believe or 44.99. Gotta check.
But I am on their lowest tier.
I was on their highest originally when it was Adelphia and I had an entire pipe just for my house.

Question for you Spectrum bkitches: I'm moving to a Spectrum area next month, so I have the option to get the Dodgers station. Is there anything on the station besides the games that is worthwhile?

I'm deciding if I want the package with Sportsnet LA (whatever it's called), or if I want to go with a cheaper package and use MLB.tv instead. Things I like about MLB.tv is I can watch on the iPad from anywhere on the go (or watch on the TV), plus I can watch the game later without needing to DVR, and I would save about $120 a year over the extra cable price. I'm leaning towards MLB.tv, but am I missing anything? Can you watch Sportsnet LA on an iPad and/or at a later time?

The Dodgers are one of only 2 or 3 teams whose regional sports network does not provide live streaming of games to mobile devices. You must be connected to your home's wifi network in order to watch on your phone through the Spectrum app. You'd need a third party device like SlingBox (not to be confused with SlingTV) to watch on your tablet or computer away from home.

Yes, there is solid programming other than the game. "Backstage: Dodgers" gives you behind the scenes access to the team every week throughout spring training and the regular season with excellent production value, features, narrative etc. Pre and post-game coverage is extensive.

I tried cutting the cord and using a VPN with MLB.TV in the past. It was okay, but I missed having the post-game show in the background while I wound down for the night. Plus, the lack of DVR. I record Backstage: Dodgers, MLB Now, and network shows that I'd rather record than pay for Hulu.

If you're tired of leasing equipment from cable companies, just rent a cable card and get a Tivo box. Tivo service is 14 bucks /month and consolidates all your streaming apps, cable programming, DVR, etc into one box. You can also buy "Tivo Minis" (one time purchase) and connect them via Ethernet to create whole-home DVR. It's a better UI than any cable or satellite company.

If you can live without DVR and care little for studio programming, continue with MLB.TV. If you want a traditional cable television experience, DVR, and streaming all in one device, get Spectrum and a Tivo.

    JMO.

Correct. That's what I meant by VPN. Unblock-us is what I used. It's like $4.99 /month and works great.

Mlb.tv allows you to watch in market games an hour after the game is over (you might want to double check the 1-hour, but it is something like that).

Unblock-us is a good unlocator service. I used to use it. Keep in mind, it won’t work for certain devices like iPads or phones because the mlb app uses the location service on those devices to determine location (as opposed to IP address). But unblock-us will work with devices like appleTV, roku, or PlayStation. If you are using a computer, Chrome with the Hola plugin might work too, and that’s free.

I use mlb.tv with my iPad, but that uses a different type of hack that most people probably can’t do.

are you not able to turn off the location service on the apple products?
would it then not default to the IP?

The app requires you to turn on your location settings. I've tried a couple ways to get around it, to no avail.
