Honeycutt is gold. With some of the shit the FO has given him, before and the Jew/Arab one now, the guy has worked miracles, truly.
Anybody who can get Aaron Harang to strike out nine guys in a row should be cannonized...

Thinking that: who knows??? He might take the year off and rehab and heal, and come back to the lineup, then the hate can start all over again...!
    The fun never stops!
There's no guarantee that he's permanently gone at all.

Just read an article on Ethier by that hack Dylan Hernandez. There's something about him [no homo] that fans love and it's hard [no homo] to explain.

    This part gave me chills:

"...Ethier broke into the major leagues as part of what was supposed to be a golden generation of Dodgers prospects, a group that included Russell Martin, Matt Kemp, James Loney, Chad Billingsley and Jonathan Broxton. Ethier outlasted every one of them..."

It seems like yesterday he came here in a trade for Milton Bradley. He's been a constant for younger Dodger fans. I remember by 2006 there was nobody left from the 2004 team. It's been an organization of extreme turnover. But he was here for the 4 HRs, the Kent/Drew getting thrown out at home plate in New York, Mannywood, Matt Stairs, the Rollins double to the gap, the Mccourt divorce, the 2013 Magic Castle Dodgers, the 5 straight division championships, eight post-seasons, Vero Beach, Camelback ranch, Grady Little, Joe Torre, Don Mattingley, Ned, the Nerds, etc. etc. I know that sounds like mostly torture, but there were some damn good moments in that era. It's an era that carried many of us from childhood to adulthood.

With Vin gone, Ethier is the last piece of my Dodger adolescence. I hope he's able to close the Dodger chapter of his career with a huge, WS defining moment on the national stage to cement his 12 year legacy here.

thank god our catcher has a way more respectable 15, with 11 less hr, 32 less rbi, hitting 30 points lower

If Ethier wasn't fucking hopeless against lefties I would have liked him more. Fucker doesn't like to get his pants dirty either. Plus, his name is quite similar to "either" which at times was tough on the internet banter.

No doubt, Dinner with Dre was one of the finest blogs of all time. Of all time!

"I had been hearing great things about this new Mexican restaurant in downtown Phoenix that had unbelievable red and green chile. Being an admirer of both, I had to try it. The place was all it was cracked up to be – great food, service and atmosphere. But (you didn’t think a but was coming did you?) it still was a sister of all the other regular Mexican food spots. I was in search of the cousin!"

    Writes like a 7th grader.

Gonzalez to stop boxing, focus on back stretches during offseason
by Daniel Starkand | Dodger Blue — 2 hours ago

The 2017 season was a rough one for Los Angeles Dodgers veteran first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, as he never quite managed to get healthy. The 35-year-old reported to Spring Training with a minor elbow injury that limited him throughout camp, and he then dealt with recurring lower back trouble due to bulging discs.

It forced Gonzalez to the disabled list for the first time in his career, and a second, more prolonged stint. He was recently shifted to an exclusive role as a pinch-hitter in order to prepare for likely playing in that capacity during the playoffs.

But after Gonzalez received a rare start, in which he hit a double and opposite-field home run, the Dodgers shut him down for the remainder of the year. Unforeseen circumstances could lead to a change in course, but matters would need to reach a dire state for that to occur.

Gonzalez called the decision for him to be shut down a difficult one but acknowledged it was for the best in terms of his future. He’s under contract for one more season with the Dodgers.

In a recent interview with with David Vassegh of AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio, Gonzalez explained how this offseason’s workout program will differ from year’s past:

“I’ve done so much research that I’ve got a pretty good handle on what I’ve got, how to combat it and come back to be ready for Spring Training. I’m going to focus more on physical therapy-type workouts. Doing all the exercises back specialists say you should do, sticking to those and not doing anything outside of that box. If you do things outside of the norm, you can put yourself at risk for injury. It’s going to be a very straight forward, back-oriented offseason. There won’t be any movements that are not under control. When you box you have a lot of movements that are not in control. The core exercises in boxing are not in line with the core exercises that need to be done for a back issue. From now until my career ends, I’ll put off boxing and focus more on the physical therapy.”

In the past, Gonzalez used boxing as a means to improve his conditioning and core strength. He was limited to just 71 games, and hit .242/.287/.355 with three home runs and 30 RBIs, which are all career-lows across the board.

With the emergence of Cody Bellinger at first base, Gonzalez’s days as the team’s starter look to be over, although Bellinger could be shifted to the outfield. That would not appear to be a likely scenario, however, whereas the Dodgers buying out Gonzalez wouldn’t be much of a surprise.

I'll remember Dre for his season with 15 walk off hits, his battle with Juan Pierre to play LF, those periods where I forgot he was on the team for a year at a time, and the 6 years of trade rumors where we were convinced he was going to Boston to be with his buddy Dustin Pedrioa.

It's great to see a guy in one uniform for so long, and he was a big part of this team at times, but it really feels like an accident that he's still here. He was damn near traded to Arizona at one point, and if he had been then we'd be talking about Kemp still being with us instead.

Either way, when right he's been one of the most important Dodgers over the past decade. I like to think he has one more walk off hit in him.

Yeah, passed balls are an issue for both, but Sanchez is far and away behind in the framing category from Grandal and isn't much ahead of him in the throwing department, while also making 13 errors at the position compared to YG's 6 who has had WAY more chances. So at least defensively Grandal makes up for some of his shortcomings, but for fucks sake, so many of his passed balls could have been avoided. I understand the need to steal a strike here and there, but a lot of his PB's are on balls that he needs to turn the glove over or breakdown. Also to be fair, if Grandal is calling Yankee stadium home, can DH 20+ games a year and is in the AL East, he probably has AT least 30 HR and his spray chart supports that pretty well. That division outside of TB is a complete hitters haven, especially for a guy like him that likes to work the corners. If he played in Boston, he is probably close to a 40+ HR guy since a lot of his outs are on deep flyouts to LF-LC. Not saying that Grandal is the better catcher, but if he is in that division, his numbers would probably be much more comparable.

Also, while digging for this I took a look at Barnes. His numbers behind the plate have taken a hit lately and he has dropped a bit in #'s compared to where he was before he started playing more regularly. It is weird as I had noticed when he was catching, he was not getting as many close calls as he had earlier in the season and his framing numbers are showing it. Not sure if umps are more on to him or what, but those borderline calls that Grandal gets more regularly are not happening for him at the moment.

Stanton sitting on 59HRs with 3 games left
Will he tie the Babe @ 60?
    Maris @ 61?
    Or explode and pass both?

Hear you, but if they "are on to him" with his sleight of hand framing, why don't they do the same with Grandal then?
He's the one with all the press behind it, not Barnes.
    He's not " The Framer"...

no honorable mention of his 19 kids from 15 different women?
the fact that he is torn between rooting for the team who's still paying him vs. his former manager speaks volumes
tell you what carl... root for maddon
don't want/need a bum like you riding on our coattails/bandwagon

Carl Crawford at home, being paid not to play
by Craig Calcaterra | NBC Sports — 57 minutes ago

Carl Crawford, as you know, is out of baseball. He has been since mid-2016, in fact, even though he’s still being paid pursuant to the contract he signed with the Red Sox prior to the 2011 season. That deal is in its last year and is paying him $21.9 million this season.

Scott Miller of Bleacher Report caught up with Crawford at his home near Houston recently. He seems to be at peace with his career being over. He owns a barbecue restaurant and his back yard is a playground of trampolines and four-wheelers and stuff. It’s not a bad life.

Crawford talks openly — more openly than you tend to hear guys who are out of the game — about his physical breakdown after he left the Rays for Boston. He also talks about his unhappiness with Boston and acknowledges that all of the barbs he threw back that way after being traded to Los Angeles were ultimately negative things that he has moved past. He likewise talks about the dilemma he has this postseason: cheering for his most recent teammates with the Dodgers or cheering for his longtime manager and baseball mentor, Joe Maddon.
