This is where virtual reality would be awesome. Re-create the WS environment and see if he doesn't collapse.

Honestly, I still don't want to see Darvish in blue again. Idgaf what his numbers are. He failed us on the biggest stage we had in nearly three decades.

Knowing how this front office thinks I’d be really surprised if they spent 40 million on the pen.

Olney now saying that the Marlins asking price for Stanton is perceived to be unrealistic. They want top prospects AND the new team to take on most of his contract.

This type of stuff relates to what they were talking about on MLB Radio yesterday. A couple of former FO guys said how they liked to circulate random rumors to fuck with reporters and this new generation of young FO guys love doing it just as much. Seems messed up since it’s their jobs, but it gives these GM’s something else to do at these meetings.

I could see them do it this season if it alleviates the glut of vet pitchers. Not saying they would sign another reliever for 5 yrs at $15M per. It would be Britton in a contract year and all indications are Morrow is looking somewhere in the 5-7M a year range. Having an upper echelon reliever over another #5 pitcher in the rotation is probably much more valuable to this team in its current construction and Morrow would probably revert to setup in a yr if all else holds up.

Just seems like negotiating 101 to me. Starting high and coming down is normal, starting low and coming up is never the case. We all know that Stanton will not be traded till mid January at best.

Assuming Britton is still upper echelon.
This is still a guy coming off a down year in a role notorious for it's volatility.
Why the failed signing of Andrew Miller still haunts to this day..well, that and the Chapman trade that went down the toilet.
O'Day pushed LAD to the side as well.
And of course it was Peter Angelo himself that blocked the Britton trade.
At this point I have about zero confidence that the pen will be addressed with Britton/Morrow, but I do have confidence that Friedman will pick up the pieces in the event that they strike out and still put together a top pen anyway.

I dunno. Something tells me Jeter is serious. He doesn’t want his 1st year as owner start with giving up his marquee player for anything other than a sweet deal....otherwise, just keep him. He could try to sell off everyone else and get prospects so long as Stanton’s HRs has a chance to bring people to the stadium...while the prospects mature.

Otherwise, he has a crappy cartoonish stadium no one will come to, even less than now.

Been saying that for a while. Jeter should keep Stanton. No deal is going to make complete sense for them because they have very little leverage. If it's damn near a guarantee that Yelich and Ozuna will fetch more on the trade market than Stanton, and that Stanton is the face of the org anyway..just trade Ozuna and Yelich.

Stanton doesn't want to be a part of another rebuilding effort in Miami, but I guess somebody should've have clued him in on how things are done in Miami..I'm pretty damn sure most of us knew a fire sale was coming before he even signed that contract.

Oh I believe Jeter IS serious, but the Marlins have a ton of holes to fill. So of course he is going to fill every hole he can fill IF he trades Stanton. IMO the Marlins need to fill Stanton's vacated spot, and try to upgrade 3b, SS, and 1b as well as SP. The Dodgers could fill most of those positions with ready or near ready MLB tallent in offering Alvarez(SP)/Verdugo(RF)/Lux(SS)/Rios(3b/1b)/Farmer(3b/c).
Yelich is not going anywhere......Ozuna is absolutely a possibility, however they would get significantly less for Ozuna than Stanton.
Sadly Miami might have been on a different trajectory had Fernandez not passed away.

He still has some freedom thanks to the no trade clause, to a degree at least

Been reported that it doesn't look like Stanton has any intention of playing in Boston or St. Louis.
Couple of fan bases that are notorious, so no surprise there if true

lol, I see a report, post about it and walk away from my phone/computer only to see immediately after that a report to the contrary. This is going to be the dumbest sweepstakes ever... Now reports are saying that the Giants and Marlins seem to have the early framework of a deal with Heliot Ramos being the centerpiece spect going back(would guess he was going to be the Giants #1 or #2 going into the season after a strong first year). Would guess that it would still cost them considerably more than this unless they are about to assume the vast majority of that contract.

    - Dodgers scout Aaron Sele has left the organization for the Marlins in a higher role.

    - Andy McCullah was told that the team is using the GM meetings to address the vacancies that are popping up all over the FO. They do not feel that any of the team's needs are a pressing matter at this time.
