One thing we know almost certainly is the Dodgers won't make the best offer, the Cubs probably won't either when they can get Arrieta on a 4-year deal. The Yankees, like the Dodgers, would have to move a player (Gardner or Ellsbury) to create enough space under $197M.

The Twins will almost certainly have to go a 7th year to get Darvish.

Something like 5/125, with massive deferrals is the best I see from the Dodgers.

Yes, it's tricky...but if we think that CK's back is an automatic 18 wins and he's a CY candidate for sure, as usual, and Wood wins 16-3 again (not happening) written in stone, Mr. Blister's age stays hidden, the Asians repeat the ying/yang, etc., we may be depending on magic beans again.
Even considering the colossal bed shitting of Darvish in the WS, we still need the horses to get us there...y'know, like the world's best pitcher we've had for the last five go rounds that failed miserably. All the grumblings of " let him go" increasing and being heard and read so often now.
Maybe we should seriously sign this guy, even given his pitch tipping, evidently top secret to LA coaching, obvious flaws.
I hated what he did too...lost the 7 th game of the series...but I also hated the docket of heroes who just simply disappeared from the lineup.
And the barely mentioned ever Choke Jansen. Pt. I and Part II.
Imo, the real chink in the WS armor.
Darvish takes the hit, but would be a fine acquisition for the 162 grind.
Evidently, the post season formula, totally escapes the LAD so far, so
we keep on praying on rookies each year.
    Buehler? Buehler?
It's your turn...line up behind Puig, and Joc and Corey and Cody and Julio...the Thin Blue Line is forming again.

I’ve spent the morning watching highlights of our playoff run for the first time this offseason and man, I guess I’m in a place where doesn’t get me depressed to watch even though we didn’t finish it all. In previous years, watching playoff run highlights sucked but making it to the World Series made it worthwhile to watch. Lots of really fun moments. Fuck, even though Kershaw fucked up game 5 of the World Series, I’d forgotten how great his game 1 was.

Anyways, I’d like Yu Darvish or Lorenzo Cain. If not Darvish, I wonder how much Lance Lynn would cost cause he’s pretty damn good too.

Damn, looks like the Giants are gonna acquire McCutchen. A shame because I really like McCutchen but the Giants still suck.

    Mets included
Mets are probably a year and half away from needing a fire-sale, they really should sell Thor while he still has some team control, he's already showing cracks health-wise

NYY may have come to their senses weeks back, realized they already had a Cole
One pumped up spec for Cole ala De Leon to TB for Logi, OK
Getting into a bidding war and sending multiple specs for Cole, just a waste
Would only make sense if McCutchen were coming as well, and perhaps not even then

Feels like LAD should either find a long term solution in LF or just keep moving with what they have
Already dealing with having Yasmani in a contract year, him knowing that they don't plan on re-signing him
Their most important position on the field dealing with lame duck status, which is obviously great
McCutchen coming over in his contract year just adds another everyday guy who knows he won't be around long
Will be out there playing for himself like Yasmani will be..like Hanley did in his underwhelming final season
Optimal time to deal for McCutchen was last off-season, when many questioned whether he could still produce

Wouldn't say Lynn is pretty damn good, but he is solid. Certainly respectable pitchability

Oh look at that. The heroes again
Given the recent Jay Bruce/Mets deal, I imagine perhaps SFG and the Mets were battling, the loser having to trade for McCutchen

Well, other than the initial uber disappointment couple of weeks when his name occasionally did come up, not a thing.
And you could make an argument, a valid one to some degree, too, that talking about his momentum changing, traditional Dodger RP post season failure, does not change the results...but any fail from Kershaw or anyone else, is droned to death. And actually used as bb acumen and cleverness to put blame there.

Atrocity could rival the OF the Padres put together a couple years back
Maybe the Giants traded for the Padres' GM earlier this winter and told no one?
Definitely feels like a Padresque bandwagon is forming somewhere over the pacific

Gnats did get better but they also got older and old guys don't last 162 very often. Cutch is far from the CF'er that he used to be but his bat does still play. We have done shit just not the noteworthy knock your socks off moves, we had to replace a very good pitcher for us in 2017 but I think you'll like Alexander. We got Koehler I mean come on that is legit!! :sarcasm:. Still early but I do get the frustration, it'll pay off in the end I really do believe it.

Update: 1 less suitor for LoCain, Grandy got a 1 year deal with the Jays!! Who knew?
