Toles looks to have added 10 lbs of muscle on his frame during his rehab stint.
If he gets 500 AB he should hit at least 20 HR and 30 doubles.
IMO he should start in CF.
I would much rather see Toles in the lineup vs righties than I would Logan.

On the surface Joc looks to have 35 HR, .350 OBP, with above-avg D potential. But that thing between his ears is the limiting factor, and that can’t be fixed.

So is anyone going to sign Arrieta? Still can’t believe there are so many FA just in limbo.

He might just need to suffer a little bit, suffering is the best thing in the world from turning a turd with high potential into a diamond in the rough.

Once upon a time, Toles had that between his ears thing, but bagging groceries killed that shit. Maybe that's what Joc needs to set him straight? At this point, I'd say a maxed out Joc would be like 25HRs/.800 OPS, which is pretty good if it's in CF, solid if LF. Toles was maybe on his way to 20HRs before the injury, for the most part his ISO numbers were hovering around 10th among all LF in MLB, exited with a .780+ OPS, is projected to be .800+ this year by BR, has already shown he can at least be average at all 3 OF spots, hits for average to a degree and was a highly touted spec himself in Tampa. Speed tool, advantage Toles. Defense/arm, Toles. Commitment to fitness and professionalism, Toles +1,ooo,ooo.

And I'm OK with Joc, feel he's had a productive/successful career thus far even with the turbulence, he doesn't seem to annoy his co-workers much. Maybe there's still some room for Joc to improve, certainly felt there was before he showed up to ST still fat as hell. But we've seen both guys swing the bat very well in the post-season. Overall point being, don't sleep on Toles and his upside, plus talent there..if Joc does have the advantage, it's by an eyelash. But I could see where some would say they'd rather have Toles by a wide margin because Joc just isn't helping himself when he shows up looking like a Dallas Cowboys' O-lineman from the 90's after a poor season. Totally good with having both around, certainly over Kemp.

The thing between his chest and waist might be a factor, too.

anyone still think the nerds should have tried to outbid the dbags?

Zack Greinke is struggling to crack 90mph with his fastball
by Craig Calcaterra | NBC Sports — 8 Mar 2018

Zack Greinke is not like most ballplayers. He does not speak in cliches like they do and he does not try to spin every single negative thing as a positive. We’re used to only hearing negativity from players when things are really bad — athletes always try to think positively — but with Greinke, it’s not safe to make that sort of an assumption.

That said, given how important Greinke is to the Diamondbacks, it’s still worth paying at least some attention to sentiment like this:

    Zach Buchanan ✓@ZHBuchanan
After his intersquad start this morning, Zack Greinke said he
has a nagging fear that he doesn't have it anymore. Velo has
been down. But he also said he has that fear every year.
    11:27 AM - Mar 8, 2018

Greinke was above 90 in his first spring outing but has been only hitting the mid-80s in his last two starts, including an intrasquad game this morning. Nick Piecoro, who has followed Greinke for a long time, notes that Greinke has had to build up his velocity during spring training in the past as well. He wonders whether or not Greinke has dead arm, which is not an uncommon ailment for pitchers in March.

Greinke, 34, posted a 3.20 ERA and a 215/45 K/BB ratio over 202.1 innings last season and was fourth in the NL Cy Young Award voting. There’s no reason to think that he’s suddenly lost it. And again, it’s not wise to overreact to what he says, but it’s probably something worth watching.

Yes, but that would have been an inning longer than Darvish.

    Now, apply the price tag.
ROX beat Greinke over the head in that WC play in game, had him looking like Kershaw while getting Kershaw money.
    No thanks.
We already have Kershaw for that shit

TBH, if we had Greinke, the domino effect would be that we wouldn’t have Hill. So our playoff rotation would have been Kershaw, Greinke, Yu :barf:
