  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

Roberts said that he wants to keep Taylor at CF. Based off what we’ve seen, I think Taylor is pretty bad at 2B.

My worry too. More likely than not, he doesn't come back as the same player.

Here's the question: do you target a June return to give the team enough time to evaluate what Turner will have for the second half? If he's not the same do you then make a run at Machado?

This is the risk you take when you have players that are at their peak and don’t take advantage of that situation. One column breaks, and you don’t know if the building will stand up.

It just looks like at this point the Guggs better spend a crap ton of money in 2019 to just get back to where we were in 2017.

Sheeeiiit, I swap Turner for Machado, injury or no injury.
Maybe that should be the trade, Turner is definitely on the kind of contract Baltimore would rather have with their cheap asses.
And Machado gives us another guy in his prime.
    Do that deal tonight

    yup.
teams like that come around once every 30-40 years. And we still lost.
we were going to be worse by default and now our best hitter and team leader is down

then again...Freddie Freeman is the closest injury comp and he hit fine after his 7 week recovery
and crappy teams have won the WS before. Who says we have to be the best team? Didn't work for us in 2013 or 2017.

Hopefully he recovers and we've all forgotten about this by June

    One word though....pitching.

Not sure why the Guggs are risking this season with the lack of SP....unless they are willing to pay a ton load on that, as well as pursuing guys like Machado and Harper in 2019.

I'm just really afraid that in 2019, they are only going to pursue re-signing Kershaw....or maybe not even going that far.

That might mean another 20 years of kinda close, but no cigar.

Still pissed? here's something to make you feel a little better.

Justin Turner is an absolute stud, and losing him hurts, but it's amazing how little this changes my outlook on the Dodgers. His PA get picked up in some fashion by Hernandez, Toles, Pederson? It'll cost the Dodgers, like, a win. Depth is good.

Manay hate the depth talk. But it can save a season.
Turner can recover. I have felt that his HR totals would be decreasing anyway and that he would become a line drive hitter for average and obp.
The wrist injury might push him more towards that end. The silver lining is that he will be less fatigued in the playoffs with that extra rest.
And we get to see more of Toles.

Said it just a few minutes ago. Next man up.
No matter how good he is, if a team can't survive a couple months without a 34 year old, they're not a very good team..shit, they're probably the Giants.

If I was Dave I would use this opportunity to give Trayce one last shot at being a Dodger.
Start him in CF, move Taylor to 3B. Trayce can either play himself out of the blue, make a big splash, or at least show some flashes that elevates his trade value some.
Last time he got his chance up he did not have this type of lineup around him.

What a crock of shit it doesn't hurt the team at all...lol.
It'll hurt them, bigger than shit, are you kidding, and btw, the fact that he's 34 in this context means zero.
    Nothing.
Sometimes the cockeyed optimism displayed results in something entirely different...need not be identified.
Just hope this type of thing doesn't happen to the pitching staff. Less resiliency than the lineup, imo.

Aye...it springs eternal. We do it...uh... eternally.
Celebrating a WS championship is not in the books, I guess.
    Eternally.

Alex Guerrero falls flat - Justin Turner emerges out of nowhere as his replacement
Jimmy Rollins gets hurt- Corey Seager takes his spot
Andre Ethier gets hurt- Trayce Thompson emerges as a potential star as his replacement
Trayce Thompson gets hurt- Andrew Toles emerges as a potential star as his replacement
Logan Forsythe gets hurt- Then Andrew Toles gets hurt- Chris Taylor emerges as a potential star as their replacements
Brandon McCarthy gets hurt- Alex Wood emerges as front of rotation option behind Kershaw
Andrew Toles gets hurt- then AGon gets hurt- Cody Bellinger emerges as superstar 1B
Adam Liberatore gets hurt- Grant Dayton gets hurt - Brandon Morrow emerges as elite setup man

This organization has taken plenty of blows over the last few seasons and almost every time the Dodgers have come out all the better for it. There is no easy replacement for Justin Turner as he truly is a star at third base and this fucking sucks, but the team is stacked enough everywhere else that this will give opportunities to some intriguing players. No, they are not going to go out and trade for anyone and they aren't trading him. They will look within the org and find a temporary replacement. They may hit on a couple duds, but they could find out what they have guys like Toles, Hernandez, Farmer or Verdugo with more extended playing time.
