?

If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Ferguson looks like a big, tough, ginger paddy that can crack your head if he wants to. Reminds me of a kid from the old neighborhood.
    Good.

Why would they think this kid is ready for the show ?
And Turner should be back in there now?

Yikes, Miguel Cabrera is done for the season after rupturing his biceps tendon. Fuck, that’s awful. Hate to see one of the all time greats have his career totally derailed by injury after injury. He still has $154M owed over 5 years

Here are the player performance bonuses that the team has to consider in the just under $16M in cap space that the club has
    Clayton Kershaw:
    - Award bonuses: $1M for Cy Young. $0.5M for 2nd/3rd in vote
    Hyun-Jin Ryu:
    -Performance bonuses: $0.25M each for 170, 180, 190, 200 innings
    Kenta Maeda:
    - $1M each 15, 20 GS. $1.5M each for 25, 30, 32 GS
    - $0.25M each for 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 190 IP. $0.75M 200 IP
    Tom Koehler:
    - $50,000 each for 40, 45 games. $0.1M for 50 games. $0.15M each for 55, 60 games.
    - $0.25M each for 10, 15, 20, 25 games started.
    - $0.15M each for 20, 32, 40 games finished

When the club entered the season with the $16m in tax space, many people ignored these #'s when accounting for the room that the club had. Since that time, we have figured out that Kemp is probably here to stay and the following once achievable bonuses are out the window, plus those still on the table:
Kershaw top 3 Cy Young: +$1M
Ryu not getting to 170 IP: Realistically probably +$500K in the clubs eyes
Maeda not getting to 30 starts: +$3M. Starts still on the table -$3.5M
Maeda not getting to 170 IP: +$1.5M. IP still on the table -$2M
Koehler not getting to 40 games: +$350K
Koehler not starting 15 games: +$750K. GS still on the table
    -$250K
Koehler not finishing 32 games: +$300K. GF still on the table -$150K

So after all that, the club has eased themselves out of $7.4M in potential dues so far this season, but still could be on the hook for as much as $5.9M in bonuses if basically everything were to go right for those guys still with some red. That leaves the club with roughly $10M to work with at the deadline, minus prorations for MiLB call-ups so maybe realistically somewhere in the $6-8M range in room. So what you are likely looking at is the club will probably focus on cheaper reliever options unless it can get someone to take on Forsythe in a deal. With the way the offense is going, I find it hard to believe that they will look at someone for the lineup and I bet they wait to see how some of these guys come back before making a move with the rotation. The Dodgers could have as many as 5 starters back from the DL in the next 3-4 weeks.

I get the innings pitched incentives money.
But the GS could be paying for really weak shit, like some of Maeda's earlier starts his year. Poor.
He has heen in 11 games, and has a total of 52.1 innings.
Imo, this is far trom reliable or dependable, overall.
GS seems almost throwing good money after bad. A pitcher could rack up some long dust, and last only 2/3 innings per game theoretically...certainly possible on the LAD.

Based on how far they are letting him go, Rich Hill might be able to re-join the rotation next week.

    4IP, 3H, 1R(unearned), 0BB and 9Ks. 60 pitches / 47 strikes

He has returned for the 5th, to be greeted with an infield single, an error, a strikeout and a sac fly by Austin Hedges

    Final line: 4 2/3IP, 3H, 2R(unearned), 0BB and 10Ks. 75 Pitches / 58 Strikes.

The results don't really matter, just like to see him hammering the strike zone, and velo was normal, according to reports.

He talked on the postgame report how they think they figured out the cause for his rough outings earlier in the season. Obviously we will ultimately see on the field, but it sounds like they pinpointed an issue and it has worked better for him since.

I actually am expecting him to be effective when he gets back because they made some mechanical changes and even though it was only high A but 9 k's is impressive. I'm probably the only one though.

Anyone else think that Austin should be sent down? He did get the game winner but that was mostly Kike.

If that weakass little chopper on which even a semi accurate throw on would have cemented another commonplace failure by Barnes with RISP can be classified as a game winner ( shows you how inaccuate some stats are, imo), then Hillary Clinton looks good in a thong.

Yes, but to his credit, he did not strike out but put the ball in play towards the correct part of the field to force the defense to make a play.

Agree completely. He looks lost and indecisive at the plate. And it's not like Farmer isn't a capable backup catcher.
