Unbelievably, Jerry West showing zero class by talking shit about the LeBron signing. Last guy I'd expect to say that about.... he's probably lobbying hard to make that Kawhi trade, saying to the SAS, "Let's get together and fuck those guys" Dickhead
i know what you're saying but the logo gets a pretty wide birth imo he wasn't really saying anything that wasn't' true about his family and him wanting to come here and he ended saying he wishes him the happiness he found playing in LA, just not when they play the flippers besides the Lakers should have brought him back in the fold as a consultant or something fuck letting him ink w the bench warmers, thats an embarrassment
He's getting up there too and you know a flipper faithful reporter would love to put those kind of words in his mouth they need to stick to covering Laker championship banners w promo photos thats some lame shit right there
I give logo a pass. We loved him in LA because he is competitive as hell, made LA champions as a player and a GM, and he left because the Buss's in a sense chose an outsider in Phil Jackson over a die hard Laker in West. Not is fault, and if we were idolizing him as a Laker for that fiery spirit, no sense in knocking him for having that same spirit as a GM for another team.
His agent and Rockets' execs were seen meeting in Vegas @ the SL a couple days ago, looks like that's where the most interest is coming from
Pelinka - " trying to outshoot the Warriors is a trap..need defense and toughness " What myself and a couple others were saying about the 3pt shooting concerns. Defense and toughness have to be priorities. Magic knows, they all know. Those old Pistons used to give Magic's high scoring unit hell. They're gonna take LeBron off the ball some and let him conserve energy to defend. Obviously, can't get as down and dirty as the Pistons used to get in the 80's, but they can still play a strong brand of D. Gotta turn it into football somewhat, take advantage of opportunities to run here and there, which Zo and Rondo can do, but mostly a controlled tempo. Occasional 3's, but not one after another.
Houston this past playoffs was the warning sign. They tried to out shoot and out score GS, but they ran out of gas by the 3rd and 4th quarters. Game 7 was a disaster for them in terms of 3 point shooting. If Houston could keep up the defensive pressure all game long, they had a chance to win Game 6 at least.
I get that you can't beat the GSW at their game. But you're minimizing the need to have a few bodies who can hit from three. It's a huge part of the game now.
Pelinka also ran down the list of guys on the team that can hit the 3pt shot. LeBron 37% KCP 38% Ingram 39% Kuz 37% Hart 40% Obviously, shooting is Wagner's and Svi's strength. I'd say that's a few bodies. Laker fan expecting the FO to roll out Reggie Miller this offseason will just have to make due with LeBron James.
HOU also only had a couple guys that could drive and get to the FT line. I'm more worried about free throw shooting than I am 3pt shooting. LAL has far more guys that can drive and create off the dribble, but if they're able to get GSW into foul trouble, they have to convert more often at FT line. I mean just getting to the FT line will slow the game down and create opportunities for rest, but have to finish up by making the FTs
A Tristan Thompson/Luol Deng trade right about now wouldn't be terrible. Of course that'd mean LAL gets Khloe back.. Haven't heard anything specific, but it'd make at least some sense, what with all the questions about the 5 spot and the FO wanting to be as competitive as possible right now. They could stretch/waive Thompson to help clear enough room for another max contract player after the season, same option they currently have with Deng. Not a big fan of T.Thompson or anything like that, but he'd probably wind up starting and maybe even closing games. Adding Tristan Thompson and Nwaba would be a couple solid late additions
LeBron courtside in Vegas taking in the asswhoopin on Detroit 35-16 LAL ahead, Hart almost beating DET by himself, 12 PTS early Jeff Ayres is probably gonna make the team..same agent as Kawhi
