It'd be awesome to get Manny for the freeway series.

I’ll respectuflly disagree as I still think he’s traded the day after the All star game

Agreed. Being that the game is in DC it would be a bad PR move to trade him, seeing him for the last time in an O's uniform would appease the fans. Having said that Angelos could easily fuck it up.

Bowden reported earlier this morning that his sources have informed him that the O's have two deals in hand that they would take right now to move Machado. One is a Brewers package that though it was shot down by multiple other reporters yesterday(including Rosenthal and Heyman who said that would be an extreme overpay), he is adamant that it is true. The package is said to be former top prospect Orlando Arcia, former top prospect Keon Broxton and their #2 prospect RHP Corbin Burnes. This seems like an actually somewhat weak offer IMO as both Arcia and Broxton have been shit with the stick (and Broxton is not exactly a spring chicken), but both are tremendous fielders. Burnes was just called up to the bigs after struggling in the PCL/Colorado Springs(1,000 ft higher than Denver) and this looks to me like an audition for a trade. Burnes looks to be the prize here and a fingers cross that Acria bounces back to hit enough in the AL East....

The other deal they are said to like is the Dodgers offer and he says that it centers around Gavin Lux and Dustin May. Both have been two of the top performing prospects in the system this year, both with very high ceilings. There would be more to that offer and the suspicion is the Dodgers are pairing that with an O's reliever or even two. My guess is that Edwin Rios would be in a deal to the O's as that guy would fucking mash there.

One other thing he said is that the Yankees are firmly in the picture now and that is the extreme danger to all of this. Cashman is known around the league as a last second offer trumper that will come in after the acquiring team believes they have a deal, to only have them come along and snatch the guy if they really want him. Justus Sheffield is said to be off the table right now, but the O's are adamant about acquiring some good young arms. If the Yanks decide they want Machado and are willing to move Sheffield, there is not a player in the Dodgers system that they could probably use to beat that offer. Verdugo is currently the higher regarded prospect, but if the O's prioritize pitching, only Walker Buehler is currently the better pitching prospect we'd have(and he's a lot better).

The D'Backs are said to have their top prospect RHP Jon Duplantier on the table in an offer to the O's, but as a whole it sounds like it is falling a bit short. He has a shoulder injury in his past and if that were a red flag to any franchise, god knows the Orioles would have some questions.

Man, I think that is such a dumb plan and a massive risk. So he goes to the ASG and all the coverage will be about who is he going to be traded to. Trade him beforehand, have the O's fans in attendance maybe give him a standing ovation when he is announced for "team x" and thank him for his services. With every week that passes, he gets a bit cheaper and oh man could you imagine if he got hurt?

I agree it’d be a dumb plan, but there’s too much smoke around reporters saying the Orioles are operating this way.

Interesting that Bowden reported on Lux + May cause Heyman also reported that that’s the offer. Heyman made it seem like that’s the offer the Orioles want though. But maybe it’s the one the Dodgers have made and the Orioles are sitting on it. There’s part of me though, based off Bowden’s Brewers report, that thinks Bowden’s reported offers are actually what the Orioles are requesting from the team... not the offers the teams are making for Manny. Just basing this off how Rosenthal and Heyman have talked about the Brewers/LA offers. But idk.

Also, I watched Britton’s last appearance and I can see why interest in him has peaked. He’s super super risky and hasn’t been good this year but he was throwing hard and with great sink. I can see why some scouts probably called their GMs with excitement

Actually, damn, Britton hasn’t been nearly as bad as I thought. Had one awful appearance, his walk rate was also blown up by his first outing back from the DL... he’s still risky and expensive but the rest of the bullpen options aren’t that exciting tbh. I won’t be upset either way when it comes to Britton

What I had read about the potential delay was that some thought it would be in the back of the O's minds, but there was no indication that they were going to do that. I will admit that I can't honestly keep up with everything, but most of what I have read has said that they want to move as quickly as possible to get the best return that they can.

The thing for Bowden with me here is that he has ties to this Dodgers FO and the O's(my guess with his DC area roots). He had the Dodgers landing Chapman days before everything leaked(though that could have been a Reds source), but he lives part time in LA and seems to know his stuff when it comes to stuff within the org. If the Dodgers have gone from Lux and May being untouchable, to the centerpieces of a deal, would have to think that on the surface is a better offer than what the Brewers rumor seems to be. We will have to see if that is the offer or the request, though he seemed adamant that those offers were on the table and leading the pack.

Britton is going to be a lottery ticket is he is moved now, so his value should be low. If they waited to see how he does closer to the deadline and he continues to improve, they could get a much bigger haul for him. I will be interested to see how they approach things with him. Landing Machado and Britton would be great, but if the Dodgers did that AND Britton returned to what he was closer to 2016.... look-the-fuck-out.

Random, but in the offseason the Dodgers were said to be #2 for Miles Mikolas who signed out of Japan with the Cardinals. It was said that the Cards blew all the other offers out of the water and that they were the only ones offering him a spot in the starting rotation. What a lucky fucking hit that was for them.

Nightengale is joining the party and has said that the Dodgers, Brewers and Yankees have separated themselves from the herd and that there is no clear cut favorite among the 3.

Or they are playing hard ball and waiting for one team to cough up more resources. Lets all remember the trade deadline is still 18 days away.

How many prospects would we have to give up to get DeGrom? 10?

A lot since he has 2 more years of control. Don't even think the Dodgers have the pieces to meet a Mets asking price.
