    typical reckless media sensationalism
first off, the kid wasn't specifically banned for his hairstyle
the school had a long established dress/appearance code that the kid ['s dad] chose to violate
if you know the rules and chose to violate them, then it is 100% on you if there are consequences
and nice job attempting to play the race card... didn't see you complaining about the other no-no's [mohawks or dyed hair]
you're no victim, you're someone refusing to play by the rules and then blaming it on someone else
maybe you could check with the other parents... and yeah, the school is said to be 95% black idiot
    sadly racism does still exist
but if you think making false accusations help society progress, you're a fucken idiot

Dad takes legal action against school that banned son's dreadlocks
by Elise Solé | Yahoo Lifestyle — 30 November 2018

A father is taking legal action against a school for banning his 6-year-old son for his hairstyle.

Clinton Stanley of Apopka, Fla., filed a complaint against A Book’s Christian Academy for illegal racial discrimination “on behalf of my son and other Black children in my community,” he wrote in a Thursday blog post for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Florida.

In August, Stanley walked his 6-year-old son CJ to his first day at the private Christian school, the boy proudly wearing a tie and sporting dreadlocks which he had painstakingly grown for the previous two years. But when the family arrived, they were not allowed inside, because of the school dress code on hairstyles, which states, “All boys hair must be a tapered cut, off the collar and ears. There are to be no dreads, Mohawks, designs, unnatural color, or unnatural designs.”

“My son just got told he cannot attend school with his hair,” Stanley said in a cell phone video he shot outside the classroom. “If that’s not bias, I don’t know what is.” The dad asked administrators if he could braid CJ’s hair as an alternative and was told, “I don’t think so. It’s in our handbook, it has to be above the ear.”

The family’s video got millions of views on social media, with “absolutely infuriating” and “discriminatory” among the comments.

Stanley tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the school policy appears to target students of color. “What are they saying about kids with dreadlocks — that they’re not capable of learning or are unintelligent? It seems to say, ‘We don’t want black people in our school.'”

According to Stanley’s blog post, CJ asked at the age of 4 to grow his hair to resemble his “hero” godfather. His parents agreed to allow it if he learned how to spell 40 words — a goal CJ met in less than a week.

“I warned him that growing locs isn’t something to take lightly,” wrote Stanley. “The hairstyle has biblical and, in the Black community, significant cultural foundations. Beyond that, it would require the tedious routine of retwisting, washing, and conditioning. Could a 4-year-old have that kind of patience?”

Stanley would soon find out. Stanley kept his promise and let CJ start growing his hair. “The journey had its pains. He’s tender-headed, so he would cry while the loctitian yanked at his roots. But he endured the throbbing. He wanted it that badly,” he wrote. “CJ watched in wonder as his locs took shape by kindergarten. His hair represented the first tangible proof in his young life that hard work pays off. He was bursting with pride. And so was I.”

The school did not respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment. In August, school director John Book told Orlando news station WESH2, “You can see my school. It’s probably 95 percent black. Obviously, I’m not a racist.”

The administrative complaint filed by CJ’s parents, the ACLU and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund argues that “A Book’s policy and practice violates both the antidiscrimination provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Florida law.” It also asks that the Florida Department of Education launch an investigation into A Book’s Christian Academy and suspend state scholarship funding until the school changes its policy “of preventing Black students from attending school due to their natural hair.”

    more sensationalism
the dress code violation was only the start
the kid was tased for being an unruly ckunt who threatened to punch a police officer
ever since the rodney king debacle, violators are now victims
same as the the story i posted earlier... if you violate the rules you [should] have to face the consequences
but the poor kid [sarcasm]... god forbid him having to be accountable for disobedience
    go bleeding hearts!

High School student tased for violating dress code
by Kristine Solomon | Yahoo Lifestyle — 5 hours ago

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after Ohio school resource officer decided to deploy a taser on a 17-year-old student at the Wayne County Schools Career Center on Tuesday afternoon while trying to de-escalate a behavioral incident.

The unidentified student had just returned to the high school after a suspension, and was violating dress code by showing up wearing bright orange cargo pants instead of the school uniform that all students are required to wear. A verbal altercation ensued between the teen and the dean of students, Bruce Woodruff. The school’s superintendent, Kip Crain, told Yahoo Lifestyle the student was offered scrubs to wear in the meantime, and was given the option of contacting his parents or guardians to drive his uniform to the school.

But the teenager allegedly refused to cooperate, and instead stormed out of Woodruff’s office and into the common area, where his classmates were eating lunch. Woodruff then requested that the school’s resource officer, Deputy Matt Little — who is employed by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office — follow the defiant student and intervene in the situation. A second altercation, which was captured on video by another student, then broke out between the student and Deputy Little. In the video, the deputy can be seen trying to restrain the student’s right arm, but the teen pulls away from his grip and casually heads back into the common area.

That’s when Deputy Little and Woodruff — along with the school’s security guard — confront the boy and try to restrain him again. He frees himself from their grip, but he’s surrounded. The teen is heard saying, “I didn’t do nothing,” while the deputy demands that he return to the dean’s office. After the student fails to comply, the deputy has him turn around and put his hands on the wall. Then the student turns around and appears to smile at the deputy, who then removes his taser from its holster and uses it to subdue him. The student falls to the floor, and the officer tases him a second time, causing him to roll over.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has now launched an investigation into the incident. “School officials and the deputy tried to contain that [situation] away from that area, but the young man moved into that area on his own,” Wayne County Sheriff’s Capt. Doug Hunter told local Cleveland news station WEWS-TV. “The young man was given numerous opportunities not to get into any trouble at all or be involved in any type of physical altercation.”

Crain told Yahoo Lifestyle that the deputy was trying to de-escalate the situation. “[The student] was told if he needed to blow off stream or decompress after he had his blowup that he was to go to the front office,” he said, adding that the student refused. “He started throwing F bombs and threatened the officer, and that’s when the officer was afraid that he was going to come at one of them or the students.” Capt. Hunter told WEWS-TV that’s the deputy determined that tasing was necessary. “After the student threatened to punch him,” he said, “the deputy discharged the taser and essentially ended the incident.”

Capt. Hunter said the taser was a less harmful alternative than a physical fight. “Potentially, the risk of injury would be much greater than the taser,” he said, adding that although the deputy used the taser twice, the probes that carry the electrical current only touched the student once. According to WEWS, the second attempt to tase the student came when the teen refused to put his arms behind his back. Photos of marks left behind by the taser have appeared online.

Ultimately, EMS were called to examine the student, as tasers can deliver 50,000 volts of electricity and have been known to cause short-term cognitive dysfunction, according to Popular Mechanics. The school declared the student unharmed and sent him home. Superintendent Crain confirmed the student had “prior disciplinary issues.” School officials are scheduled to meet with the boy’s parents on Thursday to determine whether he will be allowed back in the school. “We’d like to this to be successful, but he’s got to keep himself under control,” Crain told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“It’s like seeing your kid being electrocuted,” the boy’s mother, Dainyelle Adams, told local news station WKYC. “It didn’t have to escalate to that.” The mom took to Facebook to express that she does not approve of her son’s behavior, but that she feels “things could have been handled differently,” adding, “he didn’t have to be tased multiple times or even at all.” She denies that the school ever called her to bring him the proper clothes. Yahoo Lifestyle reached out to Adams, and will update this story when she responds.

In the meantime, the resource officer has been temporarily reassigned and replaced with “a different resource officer who’s a little more patient, and who we think will be working with us the remainder of the school year,” Crain said. The results of the investigation — which is being conducted with the assistance of an outside agency, in the interest of full transparency — will determine whether Deputy Little’s use of force is deemed reasonable. If so, he’ll have the opportunity to resume his duties at the school at the discretion of the dean and the superintendent.

Crain told Yahoo Lifestyle that the reaction from parents and students has been mixed, with some calling in upset and others expressing thanks for keeping the kids safe. He said that Deputy Little was new to the school this year. “He was trying to follow his training. He’s a law enforcement officer and was trying to keep the kids and staff safe.” He said that in his 15 years at Wayne County Schools Career Center, this incident is unprecedented. “We definitely wouldn’t want any officer [tasing students], but that’s what happened.”

Artist behind viral Barbara Bush cartoon returns to reunite her with George H.W. Bush
    by Gina Martinez | Time — 1 December 2018
    [IMG]
Clarion Ledger cartoonist Marshall Ramsey has followed up his viral Barbara Bush cartoon, drawn earlier this year, with a new illustration reuniting the Bush family in heaven.

President George H.W. Bush passed away on Nov. 30, 8 months after his wife of 73 years died. The Ledger published a new cartoon from Ramsey on Dec. 1, which depicts the former President arriving into heaven in a TBM Avenger plane, like the one he flew during World War II.

Bush is drawn reuniting with Barbara, who passed in April. The pair are also joined in the clouds by a drawing of their daughter Robin, who died when she was 3 years old. In the cartoon, Barbara is saying “We waited for you.”

The illustration is a follow up to Ramsey’s earlier viral image of Barbara arriving at the gates of heaven exclaiming “Robin!” and running to the depiction of her daughter. The cartoon even got the attention of President Bush himself.
On Saturday, Ramsey posted a series of tweets detailing his appreciation of President Bush and the history of his cartoons.

He said he received a note on Bush’s behalf regarding the Barbara Bush cartoon.

“I received a very kind note from President George H.W. Bush’s Chief of Staff for the Barbara Bush cartoon,” he tweeted. “President Bush was unable to write due to his Parkinson’s, but it was his sentiments. And it was very humble and gracious.”
Ramsey said he has also flown a TBM Avenger, and was impressed that Bush could fly that plane as a young soldier.

“I can’t imagine being that young and having that much responsibility as he flew through fields of flak,” he tweeted. “And then barely surviving after being shot out of the sky.”

Though he acknowledged that not every cartoon he drew about George H.W. Bush was positive, Ramsey sent his prayers to friends and family of the late former President.

“Not every cartoon I drew about President Bush was flattering,” Ramsey tweeted. “But the last one is. My prayers are with his friends and family tonight. And the nation. He lived a fascinating life of service.”

Bush, passed away in Houston last night at the age of 94. He served as President Ronald Reagan’s Vice President for two terms, then became the 41st President of the United States in 1989, serving a single term. In 2001, he saw his son George W. Bush follow in his footsteps and become President for two terms.

My late uncle, the true character of our family, served with Bush on the San Jacinto in the South Pacific during WW2. Uncle was a sailor and Bush was a pilot.

My father was also in the South Pacific in the Army during that time. After they got home, he found out that my uncle's ship had provided cover for my Dad's unit as they landed on a beach in the Philippines. Needless to say it was an emotional moment when they found out.

Too few of these men are around today. Sad. Not sure their kind will come around again.

    Great story...thanks for posting it.
I don't think their kind will come around again, at least not to the volume of heroes we had then. But the men and women volunteers serving presently are cut from that very same cloth.
Back then, guys like your uncle and mine, my dad, etc. all truly believed they were duty bound to protect those back home. And of course, to some degree, they actually were, especially on the other side of the Atlantic.
Only a select and very few are compelled by inner voice to put it on the line these days as so many willingly did back then.
Just my tuppence, but this is why we need to honor and appreciate our vets for what they are doing.

    great post bz
    problem today is society
it's now the norm to question authority/leadership and disrespect those who came before them
the constitution lays a great foundation, but there are many areas/statutes that are antiquated and need to be amended
freedom of speech, right to assemble might need some revisions
i took pride in reciting the pledge of allegiance every day
and standing for the national anthem
not saying we need complete totalitarianism, but there needs to be a little... for lack of better terms, reverence
maybe a little bit of third world order
remember the looting after the la riots?
shoot one of those ckunts in the head and see if anyone else picks up a tv
and while we're at it fuck rodney king
motherfucker was high on pcp driving in excess of 100mph through a residential area
only crime in his beating is that the limp-dicked traitor who videotaped it and sold it to the media
and that's not racist, i'd be saying the exact same thing had it been a white tweeker
    sorry man, ranting...
    just miss patriotism and respect

^I think the police need to be held accountable for brutality (like what happened with Rodney).
That said, I don't think cops just start beating the shit out of people for no reason in 2018.
If you get shot or beat, it's because you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing.

CUT TO MSNBC NEWS: "DeVarious was such a great boy! He never did nothin wrong!"

    There are exceptions, of course.

bottom line about the white tweaker is that while you may have said the exact same thing about him.. he is the mythical white guy people bring up
because it was not a white guy getting beat half to death
its generally not a white guy
im sure white guys get beat
but statistically speaking you can go ahead and say that it practically never happens.
so while im with you that you would say the same thing if it was a white tweaker getting beat to death... the white tweaker is not getting beat to death.

people of all color get beaten
just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen
media only broadcasts what spike interest/rage, hence, ratings
i still don't know a single black man who thought oj was innocent
but the media wouldn't quote them... they'd find black men/women wearing "free oj" t shirts and make it a race war
furhman et al would have done the exact same thing to king if he had been white
no man or woman, should be unjustly punished because of their race/creed/ethnicity/religion/sexuality/etc
that said, anyone who commits a crime -- regardless of race/creed/ethnicity/religion/sexuality/etc -- should be accountable for their actions and pay the price for their crimes

I have this thing with the word 'shouldn't'.
I tell the boss that there is such and such problem and his response is 'impossible, x shouldn't result in y'.
And im like... yes... but it does.
Its not supposed to work like that he says.
And im like... but it does sometimes.
But its not programmed that way he says.
And im like... i know, but it still doing that thing you said it should not do.
So go fucking the problem already.

Should is not wont/cant. We use should so much when we really are wishing that should meant cant/wont.
Its also a huge passing the buck technique.
You ever tell a kid... hey, you shoulda known better than this.
Why not just tell the kid... hey, you know better than this.

Should and kind of and like are not trueisms. They are emotional buffers.

Here is the thing with this dude.
Drugs like PCP turn you into an unholy demon zombie.
Unless you are Jesus or Father Merrin you will most likely have to remove a lot of your humanity to deal with this kind of threat.
And once you get amped up like that there is no easy off switch to get you to turn off your base ape like instinct to beat the shit out of a bad guy. Like how in third world countries where they take incest seriously those fuckers get chased out into the street with machetes and get eunuched in the public square.
Once that blood debt is raised it is tough to bring the rage down. So you will always have excessive force when you need to use force.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
    Except when they do.
Because it was not the guy with the camera that made King a celebrity.
It was not the media that made him one.
It was not us watching at home either.
It was the cops who beat the living shit out of him and erased every one of his sins with that beating.
They could not stop themselves from being gorillas and stomping all over the guy after he was subdued.
    They expiated his sins.
Most of us forgave his errors on the spot.
We acknowledged them. He was wrong and drugs are bad m'kay... but what was done to him made him a celebrity by default.
There is no should or should not.
    Only will and will not.
