    Maybe they're planning to soon.
    Regardless, reporters are mostly incompetent.
Once people decided journalists should be affluent and famous, it's become more and more about speculation, commentary and sensationalism.
    Why bother with the truth?
Get your Twitter hits, and then say "nevermind".

He updated the story to reflects comments that Magic said he didn’t meet with Harper. He’s probably lying though. Passan, Brown, and Chris Camello reported it. There’s smoke there

Patrick Corbin to the Nats, shocking. Must be nice to get such a huge contract based upon 1 good year.

Man that just feels like a massive overpay and there was an article earlier today mentioning that Corbin's slider usage is a HUGE red flag going forward when the dude has already had TJ..

Goldy to Cardinals is imminent. Deal breaker may be Goldy getting extension in Stl? The re-build in Zona commencing?

Astros signed catcher Robinson Chirinos and now that market is getting really interesting. The Astros, Nats and Braves have all conceivably wrapped up their pursuits at that position. The Yankees have also come out and said that they are not moving Gary Sanchez(probably cause his value is extremely low right now). The teams that were said to be pursuing Realmuto the hardest are mostly all potentially out of the sweepstakes now, leaving the Dodgers and maybe inter-division rival Phillies. There has been murmurs in the last couple of days that the Dodgers may have been the best suitor to make a deal, but now they could be looking even better. I think there is a real risk for the Marlins to continue to wait out a market where they could maybe lose one or more bidders once Grandal and Ramos sign.

If I am not mistaken, the TV payout actually starts out around the $150M range then escalates slowly before ramping way up in a few years. I could be very wrong though. I don't disagree that this franchise should spend and be near the top in yearly payroll, but I don't agree that they can just spend wildly on whatever and expect to be a successful franchise. They do make a shitload of money, but their yearly income from everything can't only be attributed to the teams 25 man roster. The owners get their deserved cut, then you have the FO's cut(which is sizable), the coaching staff, the second deepest MiLB development staff in baseball, the vendors, the MiLB players, the draft, etc... There is a cap on that money and it is probably not nearly as high as many of us would expect. We also haven't yet gotten into the fact that MLB gave the Dodgers a mandate to get under the tax threshold within 5 years and then many other franchises suddenly acted as if that thing was a hard cap this past season. I think if they could, this FO/ownership would spend $300M a year, but I honestly don't think they have those means, at least not yet. There also seems to be something else afoot with the way MLB has handled us, @TuborgP seems to know more, but hasn't really explained it in detail. I would not be shocked if the owners cut was pretty sizable for the next many years since they are playing with other people's money too.

Very interesting article about the Dodgers new hitting coach and his methods. Mentions the launch angle stuff that seems to drive a lot of folks nuts and how he use that information differently than others do. He is most definitely saying all the right things, we will see if his methods work and if players will be receptive to his teachings.

Morosi now reporting that the Phillies have stepped up their pursuit of Bumgarner once they saw that they weren't getting Corbin. Brewers are also in the mix. So we have gone from not going to be traded, to probably getting traded, to not getting traded and now maybe getting traded. I know Harold Reynolds is a dope, but he brought up a good point today. He doesn't think the Giants will trade him this winter as the ownership is probably aware that it would be an instant black eye for the new FO that just came up from their rival. Waiting until the deadline would likely be in their best interest, but I would say that one thing Zaidi won't give a shit about is what the fans think of him.

Mets are said to have turned their sights towards the Marlins and Realmuto. Mixed reports of how far along they are. That division is going to be a beast this year even if the Mets don’t land Realmuto since there are 4 teams going for it. I could see this backfiring royally in the end for basically everyone outside of the Braves since the Nats and Mets don’t have a ton of depth and who really are the Phillies?

Interesting bits I’ve been seeing/hearing lately are that there’s a good amount of people in the prospect world that feel Will Smith and Keibert Ruiz are both going to be stars. The weakness at the position right now makes folks feel that the Dodgers should charge a premium on them. I’ve even seen some folks say that they would not advise the Dodgers to include Ruiz in a deal for Realmuto as his ceiling is higher. Sounds like folks are really impressed with the kid after the AFL, though he still showed zero pop.

What is a "star" catcher these days? Sincere question.
