one of those rare cases where there's nothing they could do to make it anywhere as enjoyable as what we were fortunate enough to experience
best for me was 81, but 88 was close

Take back what I said about Last Kingdom. Season 3 was fantastic.

Mad Men is a real slow burn.

If you have Amazon Prime, I would suggest The Wire. The first season is slow but my god is it an amazing show.

We just watched Bodyguard on Netflix. 6 episodes and done. HEAVY English accents to deal with though.

Mad Men is great, but its a soap. A great soap that has some meaning but the drama is still mostly about relationship issues. I never got around to finishing it.
The Wire, on the other hand, is real drama.

I loved mad men for a while, but gave up somewhere toward the end. I think I missed the last two seasons.

After a while, I started feeling dirty every time I watched an episode. You can only watch corrupt people sabotage themselves without redemption for so long.

Not in the loop here at all, but really enjoying " My Brilliant Friend"( HBO), about two girls growing up in a Neapolitan neighborhood.
Truly beautiful use of Italian when interpreted to English.
Class all the way. I don't know one other person who is watching it... " it's subtitled"...lol.
Just never thought a story about two little girls from Naples would get to me. Fascinating.

    Exactly.
    Same with something like GoT.
I watched the first two seasons and enjoyed them.
The shit was right up my alley.
Friend at work gave me a memory stick with all the seasons but I never touched it.
I can't get myself to create the time to get that involved with it.
I stopped watching during the Red Woman stiff and I remember it was great but at the same time a little too much.
Like too much frosting on a good but already very sweet 3 leches cake.
You can only eat so much of that frosting before you don't even like the cake anymore.
Then you remember that you have always been a pie guy anyway.
And whipped cream is always better than frosting.

no doubt its an investment in time but i find its pretty easy to skim watch them and not really miss all that much of the plot on most
one of the reasons i didn't start w thrones is that i know i have to pay more attention plus 7 seasons or whatever it is
definitely different having this kind of access to tv but i like it esp wout the commercials

Have u watched last kingdom yet?
I'm in the middle of season 3 and the heart in the last few episodes is nowhere to be found in shows like GOT.
Dinklage is far and away the best thing about GoT.
Last Kingdom balances the action with the wit and heart aspects perfectly.
It has true villainy and real magic not the DnD fantasy tropes of most other shows with these types of settings.
It is a lot more like Vikings than GoT.

locked into the wire atm but i plan to try everything recommended here
one thing that cracks me up is how EVERY one of these shows has to have gay intimacy scenes
its like they won't produce one without it
