You folks, what you see, we’re paying a lot more than you realize. We’ve just done it in a way that I have to say is smart. I hate to use that word, but I think that’s what it is when we can accomplish our goals and stay under the luxury tax.

The chink in the armor , imo, in your second sentence is definitely " when we can accomplish our goals and ... "
    Accomplish what goals then?
A lock for second place at best? Being elite ?

You keep making this stuff up. You're inventing a different universe that is not borne out by reality, by facts.

This team, as currently constructed, is good enough to win the NL West. We can get whatever upgrades we need for the postseason at the trade deadline. That's how it works guys. Stay in contention and then peak in the postseason.

Dodgers made some cuts yesterday with Beaty, Lux, Mitch White, DJ Peters, Sborz, Peter and Estevez being some of the notables.

    • Kershaw is throwing an all fastball bullpen today. Reports from those that have been around him are that he has looked and sounded very good after his last couple of throwing sessions. The feeling seems to be that this was all due to some general early camp soreness. We shall see later today.
    • For those that were having a meltdown about it, the Joe Kelly "injury" appears to have been incredibly minor since he was back the next day showing no ill effects. Guessing since it was ST, they were just be overly cautious.
    • Jansen's velo took another step up in his last outing as he worked 91-94. For anyone that is wondering, when Jansen's cutter has been at its absolute best it has sat 92-94. When he was throwing 97-99 for a stretch, it resulted in an incredibly flat and fat pitch. Chad Moryiama looked it up for reference.
    • Two pitchers that have turned some heads this spring are Stetson Allie (the fans are the ones getting excited) and the other being Yordy Cabrera(the club is getting excited). Cabrera was pulled from the scrap heap after for the first time in his career(he's 28), took his conditioning and training seriously in the offseason. Cabrera has been rumored to be hitting triple digits with some heavy sink/tail and showing more command than he has in the past. The Rockies got to him a bit yesterday with 3 hits, though the only real damage came on an 0-2 hanging change that Reynolds easily deposited down the LF line. He sat 95-96 with A LOT of run on his fastball that the Rockies just could not square up. The other two hits were a 2-strike topper for an IF hit and a first pitch bloop single to the opposite field that I think was mostly lost in the sun. He got a lot of pitches in thanks to a couple of bad plays by the minor league IF. I'm interested to know if the coaching staff had him pull back a bit since he was working in that supposed lesser MPH range. He won't be up with the big club early, but is certainly a name to watch along with Allie as the MiLB season gets underway.
    • Gavin Lux is having some serious throwing issues and it has a lot of people jumping on the 2B wagon, but he is even a mess over there right now. The club is addressing his positioning which has been a topic of conversation for the last 2 years.
    • Walker Buehler will face hitters in a controlled environment on Wednesday. The club is bringing him along very slowly after the heavy workload last year. He was said to look pretty impressive the other day by batters that had to face him.
    • Corey Seager has been DH'ing in MiLB games, but has had a few days off after catching a bug. This dude's immune system is something else, I swear he gets sick EVERY year. Still said to be looking really good and should be playing in the field by the end of the week in MiLB games where the club can control his environment.
    • Caleb Ferguson is going to be stretched out to 3 innings with the plan for him to be a long reliever.... honestly would guess that this has more to do with the likelihood that Kershaw and Buehler are not likely to work later into games to start the year.

2B is there for the taking late-summer most likely. Too bad Lux is struggling defensively.

If Hernandez is hitting anywhere close to last seasons #'s and playing some superb defense at 2B in the process, I would not be shocked to see the club wait until September to call Lux up. I will admit though, projection systems are incredibly unkind to Hernandez.

I have her name highlighted in my Dodger Alert App. Whenever it appears I come rushing in for the same reason. Oh well disappointed and back to lurking I go!

I'll take solid D and a 118 wrc+ from 2B, don't get me wrong. But I think there's reasonable doubt he puts that up.
    I see a floor of .190/.283/.384 and a ceiling of .256/.336/.470

Even if he reaches his ceiling, we're still not getting a lot of volume there. At some point, we're going to need guys besides Turner and Seager to actually hit the ball on a day to day, season to season basis.

Kershaw came out of his bullpen looking pretty good and they will try this again in a couple days as long as he comes back feeling alright tomorrow.

Funny. Brock just performed a song with strip in the clubhouse and joked about being sent to AAA while strip joked about Dustin May stealing his job.

Pretty funny. It’s in Strips gram.
