Orel is hardly boring or inane. He's a good baseball analyst.

My only beef with him is that is an over the top homer most of the time.

Apparently he didn't want to throw the slider that fanned Hosmer to end the game Tues.

It might have been the best pitch he's thrown all year and best slider I've ever seen him throw.

I agree 100%. It was sarcasm, gleaned from a multitude of previous posts for literally years.
I love the fact that he is a homer...one of the best things about him.

Kenley was just kicking back and watching Kershaw call his shot in the offseason, and now he's flexing his own power because why not? What are they going to do? Give him a lucrative extension? Trash leadership from ownership on down. None of these stalwart guys have won the big one and earned the right to be teflon or turn down direction. This is where Steinbrenner did excel as an owner. He was terrible for all the meddling he did in making shitty trades to try and win in the 80's, and they built a beast after he was banned from baseball and away from the team, but at least he did have a stronghold on the NYY culture.

The culture with LAD is weak. Guggenheim is as weak as Dave Roberts, that's why they're a perfect match and couldn't do without one another. I could maybe see if these guys were champions. One of these guys needs to be shot out of a cannon, but they won't do it. Well, they did fire Puig off, but another one. Do another. The last time they did, they gained a superstar in RF. Shoot Kenley the fuck outta here and bring up Gonsolin so he can be a star. And they should strap Pollock to his back while they're at it..dumbass signing.

for those who may have missed orel's remarks...

"I think Russell Martin is calling the pitches that the scouting report calls for. I think Kenley Jansen is saying, My ego is bigger than that pitch selection. Here we go."

The teams issues are real and I'm not diminishing them but I give you this from the LA Times.

Comparing the Dodgers through 39 games this season to the same number of games the last two seasons:

    2019: 29-16, .255/.343/.453, 5.22 runs per game, 3.51 ERA

    2018: 19-26, .249/.319/.393, 4.31 runs per game, 3.84 ERA

    2017: 26-19, .265/.347/.435, 5.07 runs per game, 3.41 ERA

Obviously reading the above 2017 and 18' didn't end where we ALL wanted but I prefer not to go full blame game until the end. I don't begrudge the griping though.

In the end they have to face the AL. So long as that's a stipulation in winning a WS, optimists will likely be in the minority.

My underlying intent wasn't to be or promote optimism but to show restraint at early struggles (should have wrote it lol). There is plenty of time for adjustments and it's ALWAYS about the WS.

Gotcha. I mean, the team's record is pretty good, so as far the early struggles go, fans are probably just thinking macro and looking back at how things usually fall apart against the AL side. Dodgers don't have any problems on the NL side. This franchise hands out PTSD like hotcakes

    • “I talked to Kenley, and I think that there were some signage things. When you’re in the moment, the pitcher, the catcher, feel a certain way as far as how you’re going to attack a certain hitter. But I think the No. 1 thing is the ball is coming out of Kenley’s hand really well. And I want conviction with whatever he decides to go with, because ultimately he’s making the final decision as the pitcher. So we’ve had those conversations, and all is good with the battery with Kenley.”

    just saw this on fb...

See the young man in this picture (below)? He was 18 years old when it was taken at the train station in Mobile, Alabama, in 1952. There is $1.50 in his pocket. In that bag by his foot are two changes of clothes. (And if his mama was anything like most other mamas in the South, probably some sandwiches and other snacks.) He was on his way to Indiana to take a job.

He was going to play baseball for the Indy Clowns of the Negro Leagues. Apparently, he was pretty good at it. A couple of years later, he was signed by the (then minor league) Milwaukee Brewers. He played for the Brewers for 2 seasons, then moved across town to the Braves, and later followed them to Atlanta. Eventually, he was the last Negro League player to be on a major league roster.

He still hangs around the baseball world. At the moment, he's the senior vice president of the Atlanta Braves. Even though the team has changed stadiums (twice) since then, his retired number, 44, still hangs on the outfield wall of the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium near where he belted a homer to break Babe Ruth's all-time record (which he held for 33 years).

Happy 85th birthday to Henry Louis "Hammerin' Hank" Aaron.

When I first saw the picture and the mention of Mobile, I thought it was McCovey because they all look alike.

Good god, I did not realize that if Urias did get convicted, he would have been deported back to Mexico. That could have been some serious shit.

Would absolutely be deserved if he were deported for that conviction.
His only business here, presently, is to play baseball. If he were suspended from baseball, on a battery conviction no less...bye bye. And don't come back.
Luckily Dustin Nosler isn't in charge of due process.
As the evidence comes out, Julio is looking okay.
He is a good guy and everyone is capable of getting heated. Doesn't sound like he struck her.
Hopefully this is a learning opportunity for Julio and the consequences you mentioned (losing the opportunity to be an American resident or citizen down the road and earning lots of money) are motivation for him to be more responsible.
