So I was just perusing stats among league leaders, and three things stuck with me:

    1. Ryu's WHIP. We all know about his scoreless streak and MLB-leading ERA, but his WHIP so far for the season is an otherworldly 0.74! That's crazy!

    2. Seeing Verlander's continued dominance rubs more salt in the wounds. Who would've known that choosing Darvish over him two summers ago would still be haunting us so?

    3. I'll always hate the Marlins for expecting so much more from us for Yelich than they did from other teams. I look at how crazy-good he's become, visualize him paired-up with Bellinger, and imagine "what if !?!?" But, for league-parity sake, it's probably a good thing it didn't happen. This team might've been a perpetual 110 game winner with him.

It was the Mariners so maybe take with a grain of salt, but we could already be looking at the start of the trade season. The Giants hold the most valuable assets in regards to the Dodgers needs as they have multiple high leverage relievers that would be massive upgrades to our bullpen. One team that I say to keep a close eye on are the A's. The Dodgers have been rumored to be in on Blake Treinen each of the last two deadlines/offseasons(even when the A's were rolling). The A's are below .500 right now and with the 3 division leaders all looking VERY solid, the attention turns to possible WC teams with the Red Sox once again looking formidable after an early slump, plus the Rays continuing to do their thing and the Indians being solid even with their struggles on offense, hope may dwindle early in the AL. We shall ultimately see, but there could be a lot of options to maybe stock the pen up from outside sources as the farm is not trending great right now to help this season.

I don't think a 22 yr. old Latino kid is going to stick with Onanism.
That's in the past, imo, and now being on the brink of real stardom, that's where it will stay.
Btw, how come no one on here is calling the Guerrero kid a fat fuck?
    He makes Joc look svelte...

Totally agree on Yelich. Screw the Marlins.
Verlander...to a degree...we should have won both games we faced him in the WS and if Kenley and Kershaw do not choke, I doubt we are thinking about it.
The Astros got lucky and only picked him up because pressure from the media.

Lol Trump would've been all over that one, a high profile LAD. We know he likes to throw his hat in the ring when it comes to sports.

Doubt it. Urias is not here illegally. He is here on a legitimate work Visa, makes a half million per year and pays taxes on it.

If Urias were to be deported for violating the laws of the land and forfeiting his ability to work, that would be the system working. That's something everyone would get behind. There is no political statement to make in a situation as cut-and-dry as that.

Thinking about the Marlins, we failed to make deals for Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna and Realmuto off the top of my head. Irritating. We probably did not want Stanton cuz luxury tax, but still. They asked for Bellinger for Realmuto. Crazy

As of this point, I have a hard time seeing the Dodgers making any additions in the field at the deadline. Catching is a black hole right now and the only position that could use an upgrade is 2B. With the clubs luck of 2B acquisitions over the years, they may decide to stay in house. Keep an eye on Tulsa, Gavin Lux is crushing the ball again and is probably about due for a promotion. The Dodgers could have another star youngster on the way.

How much time would Lux need in AAA before being deemed ready to take over 2B? And would he still get big league innings at SS to stay sharp?
How does he look against LHP?

It is hard to tell these days and now that AAA is using the same ball as MLB, hitters are putting up inflated numbers. I think 200 PA is ideal, especially with his only brief time at the upper levels thus far. I don't think he see's much if any time at SS with the big club since Taylor and Hernandez are still here. He has a SUPER SSS against LHP'ing this year, but he has over an 1.000 OPS in 32 PA's this season. Was not outstanding against them last year and has already matched his career HR totals against them (2). Reports sort of expected him to take a minor step back since his numbers were fairly gaudy in his breakout 2018. All he has done is to put up even better numbers at a higher level. Feelings were if he just stayed on par with last season, he would likely leap into the upper tier of top prospects.

Another homer and two more doubles today.
He should be in OKC tomorrow. LA by August if Kikè keeps ops’ing at or under .700.

    More pontificating from Dusty
    ------------------
"....What’s weird to me is that law enforcement sources can make a statement like “the case is ‘weak'” if it, like MLB, hasn’t even seen the video yet. I guess they’re going off statements from Urias and his girlfriend — both of whom are reportedly cooperating with law enforcement.

The video will likely come out eventually, but until then, all we know what happened is what we’ve been told. It’s a tough situation for the Dodgers and the fan base. I’m not going to try to tell anyone how to fan. I just know there’s a taint surrounding Urias now, even if he didn’t “intend to injure” his girlfriend in the incident.

I’m not in the business of ranking or determining different degrees of domestic violence/battery. This situation described above is not as severe as some other reports we’ve heard in the past with other athletes in other sports, but it’s still not OK. The fact that he, on some level, put his hands on her in an attempt to restrain her should not have happened. And even if there was no intent to injure her, she still ended up on the ground, potentially as a result of him putting his hands on her.

For now, Urias is back with the team. He’s probably going to pitch this weekend in Pittsburgh. I’m not sure how to feel about it. I’m not sure what to do.

Maybe he’ll be cleared of any legal wrongdoing. Maybe he won’t. Until the investigation is finished or progresses, all we can do is wait...."

If you or someone you know needs help, the National Domestic Violence Hotline can be reached at 1-800-799-7233 or by visiting this website.

    nope
    no taint on urias
peoples feelings does not equal truth
putting your hands on a woman is not the same thing as putting your hands on a woman
one is an objective fact that can mean many innocent things while the other is a meme that means one thing, a fist
if you mean the meme let me assure you that he did not punch the woman, he did not 'put hands' on her
if you are saying that he is guilty of whatever for simply touching her with his hands... no, that is retarded
specially if you haven't seen the video

    Hehe, he said "taint."

Just another hack trying to stir the pot, which increases views and helps him keep his job. He's saying we shouldn't speculate until we know all the facts, but read between his lines and he's already strung Urias up. I say there's just as good a chance that she stumbled and he was trying to catch her, than her ending up on the ground due to ill intent.

While I appreciate this take... Just to make sure I'm not losing my mind, we were talking about Dustin (Dusty?) Nosler, right? Did Baker weigh in on Urias, too?

I thought you were referencing Dusty Baker as a joke. Didn't realize you were sincere.
