When do we trade Beaty for a bullpen arm?

They have nine more outs to catch us?
With this bp, and Dave, I have no doubt they absolutely can.

The type of arm Beaty would net us would likely be no better than what we already have.

We have to roll the dice with Kimbrel and trade our top catching prospect for a reliever of consequence.

Our bullpen is so bad that it cannot be remedied by moving starters down there, hoping Cingrani comes back, and betting on Kenley not to choke. If the F.O. thinks they'll win the WS with only marginal upgrades in the pen, they are fooling themselves.

They have to be bold and willing to make a deal that makes them uncomfortable.

Seager takes the shittiest, weakest swings ever. Bravo on the 430 ft HR, though.

Really improved lately. Last Sunday's appearance aside.

This team is playing great. Starting is pitching pretty dominant and the offense is much easier to watch this season.

Hope we can figure something out at 2B.

Absolutely have to address the bullpen in an impactful way though.

If the Dodgers could get Kimbrel and another ELITE ELITE reliever, I'd consider trading Kenley. He is a selfish cancer with diminishing stuff. His contract status and limited suitors might make it complicated or not worth while, but at least consider it.

Roll into the postseason with Kimbrel, Felipe Vazquez, Urias, Floro, and Baez as the big guns. If Maeda could do what he did in 2017 out of the pen, that plays too.

Absolutely no way Alexander, Garcia, or Ferguson types should be anywhere near the playoff roster.

They are not going to shell out dough for Kimbrel, and Kenley is untradable.

But in the past two seasons, we did see the FO trade for Darvish and Machado. They just didn’t pan out. I hope they do make a major move for additional BP help and a closer....just don’t know who that could be that doesn’t come with a long term contract for tens of millions per year.

Like I said... Kenley's contract status and limited suitors would make a trade extremely unlikely. As for Kimbrel, all he costs is money after the draft is over.

They can't blow an opportunity to win the World Series because of stubbornness not to go over the luxury tax. It is one thing to shy from Harper because we already have elite outfielders. It is another to avoid upgrading the bullpen when there are no alternatives in house. I understand the reluctancy to spend big on the bullpen (see Morrow with the Cubs), but you have to take the risk when it is your only weakness and you have to beat the AL.

Yes, they did trade for Darvish and Machado. But they were both pending free agents who only cost us 2nd tier prospects at best. An elite reliever like Felipe Vasquez would require them to part with a number 1 prospect. That would be new territory for the F.O. But they have to do it. Marginal upgrades in the bullpen will not work.

It is the era of the super team. Sub-100 win teams with even the slightest weakness need not apply. You have to be virtually flawless to win the World Series nowadays (the last 3 years in particular) and it is a trend I do not see going away.

While we shouldn't take the pennant for granted (it took us 29 years to get one), our bar has to measure up to the American League superpowers. Otherwise, why play? To win the NL West and print money?

Ownership could really blow this. I hope not. This team is too good not to fill the one glaring hole [no homo].

    totally agree
    but i doubt it happens
the guggenheimers are all about profit
baseball (competitiveness) is a distant second
and that's what makes it even more frustrating that they recklessly threw away money on a scrub like pollock
same for kelly, but at least that was an attempt to improve the area of need
so they'll continue to be in on rentals every deadline
but a big signing... i just don't see it ever happening

I really do want the Dodgers to do something big, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that the Guggs behavior does not suggest they will do that.

    That’s just who they are.
