    Bumgarner's record would be a lot better than 3-6 if he were a Dodger. He's made 11 starts where he's gone 6 or more innings and given up 3 or fewer earned runs. In those games he's 3-4 with 4 no decisions. In those three wins he had an ERA of 4.00. But in the no decision games his ERA was 3.38, and in the 4 losses 1.38. Now I know W-L and ERA aren't always the best barometers for gauging effectiveness, but you'd have to think our offense would have given him wins in at least half of those losses and no decisions.

    I'm not a closet Giants fan, I just think Madbum could be a viable option come July 31.

    Okay, let's set aside his supreme doucheness for a moment. Let's also ignore the fact that statistically, he clearly is not the pitcher he was five years ago (and I'm not talking wins). Have you seen what our starting rotation is doing? Why would we waste specs (5 of them, according to rumors out of the Gnats front office), on another starting pitcher that potentially does not even improve upon whomever he replaces, when we have a HUGE need for BP help and also a weak link at 2B?

    Well, I'll buy that you're not a closet Gnat fan if you say you aren't, but at a minimum you're enamored with his past postseason successes and are reaching if you think it's a given that the current version of him would be able to replicate those successes.

    If we take care of the Vagiants, we could have 4 SP with sub 3 ERAs. 1 of them sub 2. So while I would take an ace (or resurgent former ace) in a lopsided deal in our favor, we gotta use any prospect capital and salary on elite relief pitching first and foremost.
