Was listening to the idiot Steiner on the way home. Now I know what TB was talking about. " Martin lifts a fly ball he's drifting under it and it's gone! Even got the player wrong. How does that dumb fuck get paid?

    For 6 months back in 2011 or 2012, AM570 ran a promo with Steiner's call of Kemp's 30th HR..."Kemp enters the 30-30 club!! 30 home runs, 30 RBI's!!!!"

Dude sucks. So did Ross Porter though.

Can’t believe that ball went out, looked pretty harmless.

I thought the same thing, but after looking at some point of contact pics, Smith did everything right. It was in on the hands, but he barreled it AND he lined it up before it crossed the middle of the plate. Pretty god damned beautiful if you ask me.

Actually, Martin really screwed the pooch with that play at home...he seemed zoned out and truly inept on the play.
But, imo, that is absolutely a rarity for Russell, definitely. Whatever he isn't anymore from the younger version, he is a tough, hardass backstop, and game caller. To me, that was inexplicably Grandal- like in it's failure.
An unfortunate thing to do with a baby blue hero sitting in the dugout waiting to just jump right in there to replace him.
    Survival of the fittest.

    Yes. Indeed.
And it's not like it's something as rare as an eclipse...he evidently is on a serious hot streak at the plate considering his insane 6 HRs in 7 games in OK.
And also, if that was a hunch by Davey Robots to leave Martin in ( he could have PH for him with Smith then), then I must commend him on a slick move, especially if he figured Black would rather go at the rook with his best reliever...of course, luck be a lady tonight and all, but give him the benefit of the doubt.
    Well done, Mr. Roboto !

Smith is on a tear, 6 HR's in his last 7 games in MiLB. 3 HR's in his last 4 games at the MLB level. Besides just our opinions, the feelings around scouts right now are that he is the best catcher on the roster and he should be here to stay. With that said, Smith is more than likely a .240-.260 avg guy that gets us around 15-20 HR and playing +D behind the plate. That is way better than what we have, but is important for people to not set their expectations super high and think he is a .280+ and 30+ HR guy. He had a major hole in his swing that was exploited last year and he has done a tremendous job this season to fix. The red flags are still there though of him needing an offseason to correct an issue that had him being utterly worthless in AAA, as well as the fact that he has been somewhat frail as well. It would probably be smart for the Dodgers to roll out 3 catchers and us Smith at 2B/3B once per week as well.

    At the catcher's position, I will even take a 100 wRC+
Just give me a league average hitter instead of weak liabilities like Barnes.
I think Smith can do that, so I am all in.
Definitely do not expect a star

Chingon is the name of the first settlers of the Americas.
The Chingones from the old cantones.
    Descendants of Chinggis the Chan.
From the secret cloud city in the forest of cane.
To the marble palaces of the dragon Kukul-Cain.
Two lands that used to be yuan.
