Joc is more made for the HR derby than anyone on this team. He's a BP bomber

Damn. He's gonna be rusty after that stint.

Wonder of those curve balls are messing him up at his age.

A rough couple weeks before the all star game. And I don't believe the Derby did him any favors thereafter.

He may be a natural HR Derby guy, but we know he's not a natural in games that matter, so I'd be a little worried about the effects of the derby on such a mercurial player

the NL central and east being shitty, along with mediocrity in the second tier AL teams, sucks for us as far as trades are concerned. Right now, in the NL only the giants, Mets and Miami are more than 3.5 games out which means I can see the rest of the teams not really being forced into selling.

In the AL you have more teams on the outside, with Chicago, Seattle, Toronto, Detroit, KC, and Baltimore but from that group there’s like 2-3 good relievers? Shane Greene, Ken Giles, and Colome? Maybe bummer and Ian Kennedy?

Best hope is that the Reds/Giants/Pirates decide to for sure sell and make some lefties available

We know the Giants have one really good one (Smith) and a second decent one (Watson).

Okay the following is based on saves and age which was 29 -36 AND is for the entire major leagues. Many guys who are unavailable as of today due to their position in the standings.

Update: Probably should have gone a little younger than 29 but I think we are looking at help for just this year. I'm also highlighting that despite Kenley's flaws he's pretty fucking good. Post season though he HAS to be better.

Will Smith was just placed on the injured list with a strained lat muscle. The Dodgers really need to figure this Bullpen out.

Dan O'Dowd, a former general manager (and analytically competent) panelist said today exactly what most fans feel...

"...As great as they are offensively, defensively, and no matter how strong their rotation is, I have serious concerns about the bridge to their closer, and honestly, even Kenley Jansen, who has not been lights out this year. They need to find a way to add two elite arms..."

That is real talk you ain't gonna get from VassGAY.

Twatage notwithstanding I get the frustration when he fails but he's only human. I prefer to appreciate him on here and I don't get caught up in those failures in a 162 game season. Having said this I still hate that he game up a HR to Marwin!!!

    • A source told MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal that Jake Arrieta has a bone spur in his right elbow that will likely require surgery. Rosenthal reported the news in a story for The Athletic on Sunday (subscription required), though the club has not officially confirmed the injury.

I'm a fan of old-school baseball, but the Astros going full Scott Cousins on Lucroy well after the rule changes is just stupid. The Astros aren't the brightest bunch.

    gurnick...
    • The Dodgers made their first in an expected series of All-Star break roster moves on Monday by activating veteran David Freese from the injured list and optioning rookies Kyle Garlick and Edwin Rios to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Freese was out with a left hamstring sprain since June 21. He has appeared in 56 games, batting .308 with eight homers and 23 RBIs. The Dodgers are expected to also activate shortstop Corey Seager and outfielder A.J. Pollock from the injured list before play resumes Friday in Boston. Both are scheduled to conclude Minor League rehab assignments on Monday night. Garlick appeared in 25 games, hitting .216 with two homers and four RBIs. Ríos made eight appearances, hitting .267 with one double, one triple and one RBI.
