lame series but at least it's making it crystal clear that we need 2 relievers. making Urias/Kelly/Baez essentially 6th/7th inning guys instead of set up 8th inning guys makes this bullpen pretty damn good. Leave Kenley to only need 3 outs at a time and let better relievers have to get more outs in higher leverage spots and good things can happen.

How sad would it be to watch this team blow lead after lead in the postseason and squander so much good? The asking price for good relief pitchers will probably be insane, but we are guaranteed another 2nd place finish or worse if we stand pat.

4-3 on this roadtrip isn't terrible against some fringe postseason teams but should've won 1 more against Philly.

Again, this roadtrip should be clear to the FO they need 1 elite then 1 good reliever and then it's all up to the players

    And AA is calling Joc.
Better get to a meeting fucking soon. That might be one explanation. Drunken stupor. And lazy in the OF, too.
And the errors and Ks are mounting up for Max...too bad. Starting to hurt a bit.
But no team, however good they are supposed to be, can cover a shoddy defense like we've shown for at least two weeks. Not forever.
Looks like Kelly sure isn't the answer. Nope.
I haven't the foggiest what to do with this pen. Not with the personnel in it now.
    Uh uh.

Not that it is important, but that's not so. The kid was good when he first came up, and had some nice outings. But that was then, this is now. And now, he sucks, I get it.
So, he is at fault for allowing the tie.
Make no mistake, however...Kelly lost it.
Fear the Fish...they beat us like a drum last season.

They'll add a couple. They usually do. And then Kersh will either blow pivotal games so badly that they'll be useless, or Roberts will burn through them by the 2nd or 3rd inning. Think we know how this works by now

don't get how Kelly "lost" it
he gave up a hit to a guy making 330m, a ground ball and a slap hit on an outside pitch
of course everyone wants more but if caleb doesn't put two on to start the inning theres a couple of hits and a run scores
i'm fine w how he performed and have confidence he's turning it around
yes he has a past but he's also electric and i'll take my chances w him over just about everyone else in that bp atm
essential to any chance we have

Tip your hat to Hoskins for hitting a good pitch.

Kelly was extremely lucky Harper didn't hit that hanging piece of shit 450 ft instead of a line drive single.

That said, the current Kelly is starting to resemble the guy they faced in the Series.

I'd prefer to see Beaty in Joc's place in the OF for the short term and possibly for the long term if he performs.

At the very least this hot streak possibly makes Beaty an attractive trade piece.

Yes, play the hot hand. Why does that make so much sense to us and yet Roberts can't see it? I'm telling you, he's too nice to be a great manager. Doesn't want to upset the apple cart.

On a related topic, Joc is now 3 for 18 (.167) since the HR Derby. I've yet to see a Dodger player participate in it and not have his swing screwed up afterwards. Maybe America was entertained by Pederson's fine showing. Me, I'd gladly trade that in for two more hits (5 for 18) - something that was attainable if he spent the break in a batting cage working on mechanics instead of trying to jack every pitch he saw.

Just for shits and giggles, I looked up the only other two guys that I know were in the Derby. Wanna know how they've done since?

    Alonso: 2 for 19 (.105)
    Vlad Jr: 3 for 21 (.143)

By those comparisons, Joc is killing it!

Seriously, that thing should be axed, or at least permanently boycotted by the Dodgers.

But Joc was utter trash basically the whole month of June, before the HR Derby. However, certainly don't think the Derby helps a guy that struggles with consistency.

That being said, Joc usually does his share of good in the postseason. I'd just bat him 8th in the order. Don't give a rat's ass about him being an all-star

Thinking about whether I have less respect for Neris or Jansen. It's close.

At least Neris showed he has some fire. All Jansen wants to do is pull his shirt away from his shoulder and prance in a circle around the mound after a strike out while thinking about shoe shopping on QVC.... That, or be a pouty cKunt when he doesn't get his way.

Too bad that come-backer didn't shatter his foot!

Showing fire or a flaming asshole? The latter, I believe. Gutless piece of shit. You don't throw behind someone that high.

That said, Jansen is a twat.

Uh...this is how he lost it...the first two runs were shitbag Fergeson's responsibility...so the tie to a 5-5 score is on him.Floro didn't contribute to any men on base.
Kelly came in and immediately gave the Phillies the lead, which stood up. Mystery solved...that's how he he shit the bed.
And really, using the hit to a guy making 330 million...is that a criteria for you? What about a guy who doesn't pitch that much at all ( too afraid to use him earlier) making 25 million? Giving up clutch hits to someone is.justified because of big salary? Worse argument ever.
He might be the only guy that we have as an alternative, I agree.
    But "dependable" ? Pretty funny.
Yes, good stuff indeed. I agree.
So do the broadcasters, our FO, Kelly's supporters, etc.
Brett Tomko had good stuff, too.
We'll see how it turns out...but I fully expect Jansen out there next save situation barring a complete LAD 180° turn around from previous approach.

I was thinking more of when he yelled FU than the bean ball. People (like Kelly) throw at us and we remain "Gentlemany" too often. This team needs to earn it's swagger before it takes the next step and there's nothing wrong with a little FU attitude.

Jansen is another perfect example... He thinks his shoes and his lame AF Kenleyfornia sign scare the other teams, and they don't. A little chin music coming from that apathetic fuck would impress me about now.

Haven't been on this thread during the series but what struck me was that we made 2 ERRORS EACH game!!! What the hell.
