Lux has played well in AAA but we must temper the excitement. The power output is encouraging but we can’t realistically evaluate players in that environment with the incorporation of the “juiced” ball. There being more HRs at the ASB than there were in all of 2018 is telling...

Granted PCL is a launching pad but AA isn't and he was solid. Your juiced ball theory has some legs obviously but it's been that way for everybody and he has been crushing. His ascension through the ranks of prospect rankings has been been remarkable and rapid as well so there is something there I mean really there. Small sample size I do get it but .482 in 85 PA's is mind boggling. DJ Peter's my man crush as seen my some posters on here has been real good too. Dustin May after an initial rough patch has been settling in. I'm glad CKWG has been enjoying his trip but I need some back up lol.

Both AA and AAA for the first time this year have integrated the same ball that they are using at the MLB level. I guess they were using a slightly more depressed/synthetic ball in the past since it was cheaper. It’s why in recent seasons you’d see more instances of some guy coming up from AAA that had shown iffy/good power, then would be crushing everything in sight(Max Muncy for example). Not saying that Peters and Lux are both 1.200 OPS guys, but reports on them are incredibly impressive, numbers aside.

Lux at 10, May at 35, Ruiz at 36, and Smith at 57. That's ridiculous and awesome

I doubt they move Lux or Smith. MAYBE May, and I'm betting they do move Ruiz.

Pirates want the moon AND the stars. Close to major league ready. Ruiz a year maybe 2 away. Smith ready and Lux/May (can't have both) are on the cusp depending on the rest of the AAA season.

Keep an eye on DJ Peters. He has been lighting up AAA since his promotion. His numbers started taking a turn in his last month or so in AA where he seemed to be getting a grasp on his rebuilt swing. Peters has the skill set to be a monster middle of the order bat and him being right handed is a huge deal for a Dodgers club that is littered with LH staples at the MLB level (Bellinger, Seager, Muncy and Verdugo) with top hitting prospects and bench bats also being LHH (Lux, Beaty, Rios as switch hitting Ruiz that is better from the left side). I could see the club trying to hold onto Peters at the deadline now as the results he is seeing could turn him into an elite COF bat.

His biggest knock has always been a long levered swing that caused his K’s to rack up by missing pitches in the strike zone. He has always benefited from having a great feel for the strike zone, so tightening the swing up to make more contact would have a massive helium impact. He has seen 70-80 grades for raw power and shortening his swing could still result in 30+ HR power. His OF defense would be above average to plus on the corners and likely average in CF where his reads are just so so. He has seen comps to Jayson Werth and I’ve heard Aaron Judge upside if he ever put it all together.

It is going to be interesting to see how the club approaches things at the deadline with him, but we may see as many as 10 or more untouchables in a Dodgers system that has totally reloaded.

Was just saying they should probably keep him with the juiced ball effect going at the big level. Pretty much the ideal environment. He could thrive in short order.

    He's like a 40 grade prospect, no?
Not saying anything CKWG is invalid. I'm stoked on those comps
    But "untouchable"...I can't get there...yet...
I do agree that a middle-of-the-order RH bat would be huge.

    Gray
    Cartaya
    Vargas
    Hoese
    Busch
    Lewis
Downs (Maybe only in deal for Thor)
Peters (Maybe only in deal for Thor)
Gonsolin (Maybe only in deal for Thor)

No, he entered 2019 as a 50 grade spect even with shit contact being his only sub 50 grade. If he has fixed his contact woes he’s a 55+ spect depending on just how much of a leap they think he’s taken. Also, when using untouchable, I’m meaning this trade season as I think it’s mostly shit out there. Thor would be great, but that is hoping that he regains his old form. I don’t believe in paying heavily for a dude that is having a down year. As for Vazquez, I feel relievers can net you intriguing spects, but not guys knocking on the door to become potential regulars. If you look at the Dodgers records for acquiring relievers, it seems the FO has a similar mindset.

So yeah DJ cutting those K's down is huge. You know how enamored I am (no homo) with his talent. I will take credit for believing that he would become an important spec. Run of the mill relievers I totally agree but IMO I think Vasquez is special.

Like that the farm is so strong, of course, and yeah, there are reasons to hold on to these guys, if only that obviously some of them aren't currently at projected apex value so it's just too early. Little too early to think about dealing a Cartaya for example.

Hope they end up keeping Gonsolin. I know they're developing him as a starter, but that arm may be a nice bullpen option at some point and that's pretty much all we talk about these days is the pen.

It's encouraging to see how much the farm system has been re-supplied.

I think about what's made this team as strong as it is, and it's heavily due to talent from our scouting/farm: Belli, Seager, Joc, Verdugo, CK, Buehler, Ryu, and Maeda (and hopefully Smith and Beatty can continue to contribute). The only "outsiders" who have made an impact for more than a season are the ones who were unheralded: Turner, CT, and Max.

Then I think about higher profile acquisitions like Darvish, Machado, Forsythe, Dozier, Madson, Kelly, and Pollock. Maybe you could say that Yu and Manny had their moments, but in the end there are more negatives than positives with each of these.

I've argued all season that the Dodgers need to make trades to shore-up the pen, but now I'm starting to have second thoughts, particularly if the pickings are so slim. If a year from now Lux is in our starting infield, Smith and/or Ruiz are our everyday catchers, May is our 4th or 5th starter, Peters provides a RH power bat, and the farm STILL has considerable talent... where's the weakness? Yes the pen, but relievers are pretty much a crap shoot anyhow. Let's let all this considerable farm talent develop and work for us, and whatever happens with the pen, happens.
