May or Lux and more pieces for a relief pitcher?
Time to let these young hurlers do their thing
    Who needs another preening ego?

Genuinely hope Vazquez tears his UCL in his first inning after the deadline.
The Pirates deserve a tough lesson.

The mishandling of him on a damned weekly basis was one of the most frustrating things to watch. He was the victim of unfortunate circumstance as our farm was not nearly as deep as it is now and he was basically the only back of the rotation arm that we had where we could just bounce him back and forth. He lost about 5 ticks on his fastball and I feel it was mostly all due to the team yo-yo’ing him around from starter to reliever, back to starter 3 days later and so on and so on. What he had when he first came up, would have been a valuable pen arm now. Damn shame how it all played out for him.

I'm super excited to hear the reasons for not spending money next season!

Good thing they didn't buy Lourdes Gurriel
.900+ OPS through nearly 300 plate appearances this season for the Jays
11 homers in 65 games last year, and 18 homers in 71 games this year

One can only imagine what this FO could have done with a properly stocked Int’l scouting department for 2015-16 and so on. No idea why they didn’t buy him when we were soooo fucking thin in MIF talent.

And he's mainly played LF this season, so they might have even moved Joc to another team. Might have stopped them from stupidly spending on Pollock, as well. If Lourdes were to have locked in LF for us, with Belli locked in @ RF, only place for Verdugo would have been CF. Then if Peters just can't be stopped, Lourdes goes to SS, Corey to 3B, Lux 2B and Turner 1B. Or Corey to 1B. Would've been so many options.

.850ish OPS VS RHP for Lourdes this year.
    1.000+ OPS VS LHP
Imagine that leading off everyday instead of Joc's inconsistency

I know this isn’t going to make anyone feel better, but this is from JJ Cooper at BA. This is also not the first time that I have seen this today. The feelings around the prospect world are all pretty aligned in the belief that the Dodgers call ups are good...
“The Dodgers didn't do much yesterday. That said, it wouldn't stun me if Dodgers prospects Dustin May, Will Smith and Gavin Lux make as much impact over the remainder of the season as anyone traded to an NL team yesterday.”

I would be a lot more optimistic about things going forward if the Astros didn't get Greinke. Yes, we've had good success against him, but the playoffs are a whole different animal and it's so demoralizing to see a team like the Astros and know in your heart of hearts that we simply can't beat them. Maybe some disagree with me, but I think it'd go a lot like the Boston series. Our starting pitching could hold them down, but they'd rip our pen apart. As constructed, the Dodgers can surely make the WS again but god help us all if it's against that team. That 1-2-3 to go with their offense is frightening. And we all know that the Dodgers and luck don't go together unless it's bad luck....there's no way in hell someone upsets Houston if we make it to the WS. I know I shouldn't look ahead or think about WS scenarios since we could very well lose in the NLDS, but it's so hard to not think about it given how close we've been and how badly we all want them to break through. I think we could beat anyone in baseball except Houston. I originally had the Yankees as unbeatable for us, but their starting pitching is so bad and they didn't do anything to upgrade it yesterday.

The crazy thing about a possible Astros/Dodgers World Series is that all the Astros main starters are righty (which LA is better against) and our starters are lefty (which Houston is better against). Houston bullpen would be kinda pieced together just like ours. But it would be an insane series. It’d seriously be a game of strengths against strengths

But, gotta get there of course and all that

Lux needs to be given a shot at 2B down the stretch, although the possibility of having three rooks (Smith, Lux and Verdugo) in the everyday lineup is scary.

Get Lux in there and move Muncy back to 1B. Have to wonder if his recently struggles in the field are affecting him at the plate. I'd say the same about Joc, but his entire career is one of massive slumps and hot streaks.

However, LAD's weaknesses sit at the top of their payroll, so we as fans have the wonderful opportunity to sit and wonder how wise spending would've impacted the team..while they're having their asses handed to them, of course.

Our new reliever Kolarek has only allowed 2 home runs to lefties over the past 3 years. That sounds like a great stat to flash on the screen right before he gives up a bomb to Freddie Freeman in the NLCS

We could’ve had those three and Greinke or Shane Greene or Diekman or Aaron Sanchez.

No one loves him but he has potential to be a good reliever and cost a 26 year old AAAA player.

Seemed like everyone on ESPN and MLB Network loved everyone traded. I think it was Tex that got excited so maybe it stood out to me so I thought there was more love than there actually is. As for Sanchez as a reliever, Maeda has proven that he can be good reliever, Buehler has closer stuff assuming Rich Hill comes back and pitches well so he can be moved to the pen. I just think our versatility can mitigate all this hate the FO has been getting. I'd be real interested in how Kolarek does going forward. He's killed lefties and he has been pitching well in the AL East now Alexander was supposed to be that guy last year and it didn't work out.

    disappointed we didn’t get help
but now that i’ve had a day to think about it, i’m good
we’re still favorites to get to the ws and we didn’t lose any of our top prospects
as i said in another thread, i think gonsolin is going to be a huge difference maker down the stretch and beyond
and the ceiling is literally limitless on may, lux and a couple others
the fact that smith has done so well and friedman was still unwilling to part with ruiz speaks volumes
i’m actually excited to see how this plays out

Kinda like the "Kershaw is 49-0 with 4+ runs of support" stat
