One time Shaq was doing some of LAL's highlights and when Caruso made a shot he yelled, " Mike Penberthy! "
Almost fell out of my chair

Feels like overkill. Wanted Ainge to get a taste of AD/Lakers on opening night..or Popovich..or Kerr.

Yeah, I don't like the opening night one since PG will be sidelined. Don't want to hear any excuses.

Definitely glad the sorry ass Knicks aren't playing on Christmas this year.

Cray Cray signs 4 year extension. Why didn’t he wait till the off season and get a 5 year max deal?

Clippers are gonna be super load management champs. Don't know why people think they'll be the 1 seed.

Knicks are so sad. Porzingis demanding a trade was damning and it ended up playing out the way it was supposed to, with them on the short end of the stick in NY

Probably wasn't getting a 4 yr max offer on the open market. Could've even took a short term deal to hit the market again when the cap goes up, but yeah this is probably him acknowledging a weak market. He's breaking down some physically, coming off a long run. Locked in the money, gonna have stress free, fat and happy vaca this season with team expectations lowered. Shit, he got fat last season, before he had the money locked in

Idk his net worth is listed at 20 million and in the next four years he's going to make 5 times that
Just on the chance of an injury or erosion of skill sets I think it's a wise choice

Of course, they really value his mouth and call him the motor/heart of their dynasty. And he definitely played a big part in their playoff run this past season, but he also basically used the reg season to get in shape. Obviously, they've played a ton of ball over the past 5 years, so some would probably give him a pass.

They did him a solid with this deal, for all that he's done..almost reminds me of Kobe getting the big extension at the end of his career for all that he had done for LAL. Similar in some ways, but I am surprised that they found themselves having to overpay Draymond since they're supposed to be " light-years ahead of everyone ". Guess they also have the opportunity, with this deal, to sort of look good with the players since they've been under attack as of late for their medical team's decision to clear Durant. Taking care of Draymond looks good, even though a lot of players don't like him

Durant's "team", including the physician who performed the surgery on his Achilles also gave the OK for Durant to play. Lots of so-called blame to go around there.

They did, but only one entity was pressuring him to return. GSW.

Can't forget GSW's part owner literally taking a swipe @ Lowry during the Finals, so that on top of Lacob/GSW pressuring Durant publicly. Then the alleged sex assault by Luke while he was on GSW's watch. They've been under fire in recent months. Signing fan fave Draymond does give their fans a positive headline, at least in their eyes. David West sort of pulled up the curtain on their sketchy culture on his way into retirement. Caving to public pressure from GSW ownership and teammates, obviously, some of that is just on Durant. Nobody actually put a gun to his head and he has a record of being weak, but GSW definitely did their part in keeping the flame to his feet.

While on the topic of public pressure, David Griffin is also pretty weak. Weak for whining about the media scrutiny he'd have to incur as a result of LeBron returning to Cleveland to compete for championships, and weak for backpedaling after opening his mouth about LeBron. Shouldn't have even been talking about LeBron at all..talk about your own team..same goes for Kerr and his BS take on AD. Fairly easy to shit on a reporter's question and move to the next one. Happens all the time. Now, you gotta hand out explanations because of backlash. Smh Whether he meant to do it or not, Griffin exposed himself..probably shouldn't even be considered for big market jobs from here on out. Let him stay in small markets and continue being the GOAT draft lottery winner.

Can't forget Melo and his weakness either, calling for an impromptu 1 on 1 interview on BSPN to " set the record straight " and beg for a job. No different than Dwight and his fuckery every offseason, pleading for spots on teams. Melo says he's willing to come off the bench and play a lesser role. FOH. Nobody really cares about a washed up 17th year star that can't defend or catch and shoot. " I was the 4th option for OKC "..guy would be like the 8th scoring option on the Lakers. Rather they run a screen/roll heavy O with McGee than dump the ball in to Melo for old man iso/mid-range BS. There are just options that are better suited for the role he needs this late in his career. And saying, " I want to play " doesn't help when the role you're best suited for is the Jared Dudley/mentor/bench-rider role. He thinks he's being blackballed..excuses. 1 dimensional his whole career..of course nobody believes he can fall in line and have an impact doing other things.

Wonder if Penberthy will be tasked with fixing LeBron's free throw fuckery. If LeBron isn't going to make free throws, just give the ball to AD in the 4th and gfto the way

Looks like the entire Celtics' roster is on the USA FIBA squad. Wow. And coached by Popovich and Kerr. Kuz is in enemy territory

To avoid all this stuff team USA should have two squads.
A junior squad with only players that are still on their rookie contracts.
Once a player finishes the years on his rookie deal he no longer qualifies for the JV team.
That way the main squad can't be supported by young players but instead would depend on veterans.
So Melo could still play and somebody might care :D

JV team would be a nice mix of former/current Lakers and former/current Celtics.
