Ehh, if Urias can build up to 5-6 innings before the playoffs, then he is definitely worth having out there. They have refused to use him back to back games, so his use in the pen is stunted. He could get 5-6 starts before the playoffs, so that should be enough to get him built up.

Yeah I’m not denying he wouldn’t be more valuable as a starter in general but I just feel like the back of the pen and left handed wise especially is lacking without him. I’d be more excited if they let him throw an inning on back to back days or at least every other game type thing.

I'm really not interested in playing the Nationals in a 5-game series. Yeah, they're probably the only team who chokes more than the Dodgers do, but they have the talent.

I really think he’s unable to go back to back games or even like twice in 3 days. If that’s the case, they basically need to use him as a starter. It’s an underrated aspect of trying to put a starter in the bullpen, not every pitcher can pitch effectively back to back days or often. And if you’re gonna have him do 2 innings every 3 days you’re better off just having him go 5 innings every 5 days because 2 innings every 3 days means he only pitches in like 2 games a series

Brandon Morrow has been shut down for the remainder of the season. This will likely end his Cubs tenure which saw him only throw 30.2 innings across 2 seasons while netting $21M. He was still elite when healthy, but for the last year and a half he never was. The Cubs are likely to buy him out of the remaining $3M left on his contract at the end of the season. We watch our team every night to bitch and moan about our shitty pen that somehow ranks as the 7th best in baseball. Bullpens have been a disaster league-wide this year and the Dodgers are one of many contenders with issues. Throwing money at the problem is not the answer and trading for high end arms doesn't seem to be that much better. It is going to be interesting to see if there is a market correction on relievers this year. I also wonder if the Dodgers are able to get Morrow back in the offseason on an MiLB deal.

As bad as we think the Dodger pen is, there are many just as bad or worse, including other contending teams like the Cubs, Nats, Braves, Mets, Phils and Brewers.

Maybe they didn't show up right away for them, but the guys that the Braves got at the deadline sure made the Dodgers look like shit. I don't know the numbers since, but they looked awfully good to me.

Which is EXACTLY why we should have taken advantage of the others' weaknesses!

Maybe Upton is a weak lay. The pretty ones often are. That would frustrate the hell out of me too.

yeah but fuck these reporters thinking its their right to be everywhere and everywhere.
the media is saying that not letting reporters into the clubhouse strictly within 10 minutes of a final out is 'intolerance'.
    fuck them

Verlander being high profile marriage guy and what not, his POV with the media has to be different than most other guys in MLB. He's definitely dealing with more all around media fuckery than other players. I mean, on one hand you could expect him to be pretty loose with the media by now because of that, but it also is pretty reasonable to think he's tried to prevent having to whip ass on occasions here and there because of the sheer volume of BS from the media/paparazzi

Safe to say that some or maybe even most of us would take his place, but still all the extra BS would get old at some point for any real guy. Imagine that every so often all the BS bleeds over together and he just decides swings the hammer. Reminds me of new school media and it's " block " or " mute ". Twitter, anyway. This reporter/troll fella was basically muted. Everyday shit really

exactly, these 'reporters' are part of the business
    they are not real reporters
    this is sports entertainment
its like calling WWE reporters 'journalists'
sports reporters are supposed to be part of the act
they arent supposed to fuck up the act by trolling players for no reason

point im making is that these sports reporter guys are trying to put on the holy mantle of protected journalist so this can be about censorship and the right to a free press or some bullshit
sports reporters need to shut up and just play basketball

Order of teams I'd like to face in the NLDS, if the current Division leaders stand pat:

    1. Phillies
    2. Brewers
    3. Cardinals
    4. Mets
    5. Nationals

The Nationals remind me a lot of the 2013-15 Dodgers teams that would get off to slow starts with tons of turmoil and eventually talent prevailed for a 90+ win season and a great chance at the WS.
With that rotation and lineup, they will be extremely tough.
    Really hope they get bounced.

I think I’m lower on the Nats than most people. I think we’d destroy their bullpen, their starters are great but won’t have as big an effect on the games as we’d think, and they have the worst manager out of all the contenders.

    agree
problem is any contender (or non-contender) poses a threats if kenley is in the game
and until mgmt realizes this and is willing to go to someone else... this team, as good as it is, is extremely vulnerable
