a couple years or so ago I said that Dave should try Baez in the closer role someday
everything is there for Baez to be a top notch closer in the game if he was not a mental case
but maybe that's Dave's real forte?
that he is able to slowly over time massage the brains of mental cases so they can settle down and let their talent shine through
I thought maybe if they said to Baez that he would get a shot at closing that the situation might shock him into becoming the player he has the talent to be
but instead Dave has kept him in there while he struggled but made improvements
now Baez is about as good of a reliever that we got
with added rub being that this is Baez worst statistical year as a Dodger
yet the traditional stats go out the window when you realize how the game is different right now
his higher ERA means less with how much offense there is
instead you look at how few hits he gives up and how low his opponents AVG is
he is having a career year in those stats
and not giving up a lot of walks or homers
he is giving up a lot of runs but for the most part they are garbage runs
in comparison to years past when he would give up runs at the worst time every time
which is why I thought that if we ever let him go that some other team like the Pirates might turn him into an all star closer because they would not have anyone better to give the job to

Or if he and his lineup mates could manage a few more runs in a bullpen game against one of the worst pitching staffs in the game.

There is no 'should' in baseball.

Puig is a star, no problem with his media attention. Starshine lasts longer than statistics.
Don't worry, Max is steadily building his star with every bat drop and drop down stare followed by affable laugh.

    Pedigree is for pets right?
Anyway, stop being racist against Max just because he's an oversized half-elf.

It's a great thing about sports. Hate him when he's on another team, love him when he's on yours.

Muncy's bat drops are a thing of beauty though. He knows when he dropped a bomb on the opposing team. Personally fond of him punking madbum

I get the Astros series, but what's the 2nd WS he cost us? Not defending that clown by any means, but just curious because I don't think we defeat Boston 4 times even if Kenley pitched well.

i actually hope he goes andrew toles and disappears
or that his cardiologist says he needs to have zero physical activity and no stress for the next 4 months
and fuck roberts for lacking the spine to make a change and give someone else a shot
especially since now — and not much later — would be the time to experiment

    7. Joc Pederson LF
    8. Russell Martin C
    9. Kenta Maeda P
Guess which of these has the highest batting average? Hint: It's not Hernandez, Pederson, or Martin. They have been in a 3-man race towards the Mendoza line since the ASG.

I hope the pen is up for some work tonight. I figure with Kenta on the mound, we'll probably need about five innings out of them.

Pollock leading off? Yes, better than Joc, but hopefully he's just keeping the spot warm for Lux.

im such a nerd that I designed a card game that took pro sports stars physical abilities/game style/stats and turned them into the attributes/skills/powers for fantasy characters in a world where after a war/disaster most of the US devolves into baltimore/detroit in the north and east and juarez/tijuana in the south and west and sports stars guilt kicks in and they start becoming vigilantes/heroes using their money and the cutting edge biomedicine and technology it can buy to defend the people of their old hoods or the cities of teams where they play
where they fight against a rogues gallery of enemies from back in their old hood that don't want to see folks that made it come back and 'try to help' because all they do is attract zealots/haters/criminals that perpetuate the violence thanks to the hero baller not staying home and minding his own business

That was kind of the idea.
Teams of different classes of players made up of big power hitters as front row melee with linebackers as big damage taking and dealing tanks and 3 point shooters as magic archers lobbying damage from range like pitchers throwing fireballs like wizards.
Frank Howard as a half giant Teutonic knight smacking you with mithril hammers in the shape of Louisville sluggers.

Fucking feast or famine shit is really annoying. Can't buy a hit tonight, just like last night.
At this rate, the damn Yankees will cruise over us.
    Fuck.
And the fact that this guy is a starter is not the reason, because we flat out sucked against a load of bp guys the night before.
