If Cody can turn it on a bit, and finish a little stronger than what he looks like now, opportunity has knocked, kicked the dood open, and he could quite easilywalk through the MVP door.
With Yelich down for the year ( imo, the true MVP, based on team depths), it's up to him.
    We'll see.

I don't know if Cody has to do much of anything at this point to win MVP. I'd like to say he needs to finish strong, but I don't see how Yelich wins it when he was at best neck-and-neck with Cody. Basically just don't get hurt is all Cody needs to do.

But if Cody slows down too much he could also get caught by Rendon, who is having an amazing year

And one could argue, that now with Yelich down, the supporting cast of the Brewers is not equal to that of LA, and he deserves it more. I don't see the Brewers there at the end without him, but LA might have been without Bellinger.
    We'll never know.

Wanna see a ton of our righties in the lineup today to see how they fare against John Means. He’s actually not a bad pitcher, so we need to start seeing who is going to take the few open spots against LHP in the playoffs

Defense separates Alonzo and Yelich from Cody BUT Rendon's defense is on par if not better than Cody's so you are correct he is THE threat. Plus he plays the hot corner which is huge.

In this era of launch angle, and especially the last given all the steroid fueled rocket HRs, I'll take Belli's defense in CF + RF + 1B over Rendon's defense @ 3B.

Hopefully Belli beats Rendon out and surpasses Green on the single season HR list. Do both of those.
Was a point when I thought Seager had a shot at doing both of those things. Pretty fortunate that another guy comes along. Guess that's what separates LAD. Another guy always seems to pop up.
Now, only if they could find out how to handle free agency. Their signings are shit in comparison to their trades/player development. Who wants to look at payroll and see 5 of the top 6 guys being overpaid? What happened to " spend wisely "?? Ryu is next.

You'd be wrong lol. Hot corner is more demanding than the OF and Belli hasn't played 1st as much this year. It'll be an interesting thing to monitor but not important obviously.

3B is demanding and Rendon's doing it everyday, so credit there. But it's still a corner..don't get extra value for throwing " hot " at the front it. Lol Pretty much the 5th or 6th most important position out there behind the up the middle positions. I will say this, Belli hasn't played as much CF this season, so that's a mark against him.

From a workload standpoint, I guess one could make the argument that Rendon's had the greater impact this season, but RF is right behind 3B in importance, so it wouldn't be by much if at all. And now Belli is stringing together some CF starts. But like I said, I'd still take Belli's defense overall. Great CF play being the difference between the 2

Love benching Lux against the lefty a night after he goes 3-4 including an absolute missile on a 99 MPH fastball in a left on left situation. I know guys need their AB's, but this kid needs to play for fucks sake.

I think I am on record around here saying that I don't think this team is the caliber to win the whole thing. Obviously I will be thrilled to be proven wrong, but it seems that at this point the starting pitching is not the type that thrives anymore in the postseason. Two years ago I felt they were the best team in the league and I still feel that way(fuck you, Kenley Jansen). Last year I felt there were 3 teams in the AL that would whoop our asses in the WS and aside from major help from Jeffress, we should not have even been there. This year, I still think we are the best team in the NL, but this time there are 2 teams in the AL that are going to slaughter anyone they face in the WS. The other thing now is that I think the Braves are going to be out for blood and they are a much deeper team than last year. Getting by them won't be easy unless we get back to near full strength.

Without someone like Lux, Smith and/or Pollock stepping up, this team could be in a bit of trouble early. It is funny, I am least worried about the bullpen right now since I think enough guys have turned it on when we needed them as Kelly, Baez, Gonsolin, Maeda, Urias, Kolarek and then Ferguson could be a dynamite pen that will hopefully keep us the fuck away from Kenley.

What I keep going back to is as veteran savy of a team this may be, for the first time really in this run we are relying HEAVILY on the kids breaking out to be able to win it all. I worry most that this is going to be a learning year for Smith, Lux, Gonsolin, May and Beaty, made worse now by no Verdugo. Have stranger things have happened? Hell yes. Though I think that next years team is the one that will come out and end the drought.

Pitchers are throwing that and the high FB a TON. The opposition knows and can exploit him rather easily.

He can't seem to hit pitches in the zone anymore, either. He's just not a great hitter. He is a pretty good one with a lot of power and plays great D.

He's not the guy we need leading an offense. Nowhere close.

Corey has run into a few pitches lately, but the swing and approach are the same. he does not look primed for sustained success.
