DODGERS The ongoing OWNERSHIP Thread

Reality check. Frank ain't gonna sell his half of the parking lot and is going to get 14 million a year. If a Dodger fan is unhappy now with the team having the best record in baseball does that mean they become the fan of another team? Watcha gonna do other than be pissed? Boycott games ok, never going to another Dodger game again. Not gonna watch on tv/cable again ok. What is your end game? This is like a nasty divorce and we still hate our wife and she still lives in the neighborhood and while we have custody she has monthly visitation rights and there is nothing we can do about it. Frank isn't even talking about it so can't argue with him. If this doesn't pass does it mean the Angels will pick up some new fans?

 

I understand how you guys feeling but I also know how you guys feel and am trying to get you on the good feeling side of it all. We were all loving Dodger baseball this weekend and it is as if the press can only exist with negativity. We are so conditioned to it that at times we aren't letting go what we can't control. Fuck McCourt as we don't need to see him if we don't want to and I thought we didn't? Why do I care where it ends for you guys? Because you are good Dodger fans and on the field this is about as good as it has been these days. If we win tonight with so many injuries we should be sky high and I hope everyone will be.

 

It's funny, I hadn't seen the press conference until yesterday and so I didn't know how many times the question about the lots and FM came up. What I noticed was that Kasten and Walter seemed to get very, very quiet and a little red in the face when asked about it, but Magic answered with all his heart.

I hint Magic didn't know about this payment and Walter and Kasten just let him lie and stayed quiet. If you can, I suggest watching again. In no way does this excuse Magic from not knowing, but it may show the truer side of Walter and Kasten....for me particularly Kasten because it just seemed like he was super uncomfortable as Magic was answering and did nothing about it .

 

Let's all just be happy and watch this team grow into the elite team of the NL again. Whether you're at the stadium or not.

Year to date attendance info. We are 6th in the majors. Attendance last night was low and that was with CK on the mound. I compared a few other games and it was low for the big boys. Atlanta only had 19K plus but if they had the weather we did I can understand.

 

I admire your conviction but at the end of the day these days you don't know where all the crooks are and like it or not some people just get away with alot of crap, there will never be 100% justice. A toll is taken regardless and I am not going to punish the guy who rescues us from our plight by having the crook ousted even if not 100% ousted. 99.8 is good enough for myself at least.

Frank may have butt raped someone but it wasn't the new owners. As stated before Bud the Empororer was caught naked and the big question amongst other owners is was a condom used.

In addition because Guggenheim Partners the corporation is the majority owner they get tax right offs the other bidders would not have.

 

We may not like it but it is what it is and the financial outcomes are still in the making. If we WANT we can be happy and celebrate that our new owners will have enhanced cash flow just like the Yankees and Red Sox. We do want payroll flexibility like the Yankees and Red Sox don't we? On the other hand we can not be happy about that and oh well, each to their own.

 

Don't know the answer to that question. As I said before this is a very complex transaction and often only the lawyers and accountants know the answers. Normally when these things occur the CEO doesn't have to have a press conference to explain everything. Kasten should know much of it as it applies to day to day operations since he is running the show. The in and outs of the taxes the accountants know and he may not. Walters, not sure about. Magic is there for show and needs to take more of a back seat on some issues. As far as Frank making money from the parking that issue to some was more a matter of semantics. Obviously to others it wasn't. I understand why they have not been fully forthcoming in part and I also wonder what non disclosure agreements exists on a variety of topics. Just like some of the settlement between MLB and Frank is now just being found out so with the actual sale some of it is not subject to disclosure. It was Frank's team to sell on his terms and the BK court was backing him up.

 

How much do I trust these guys? I think everything they say is lies. My guess is that they all want to bulldoze DS and develop the land - and Frank was always a part of that partnership. The motivation from day one was always land development. How could that not be? They are an investment group. And they now have a hill near downtown LA with spectacular views and covered only by a thin layer of asphalt. The baseball team is part of the PR. Magic is there to help smooth things over. Kasten will build a new stadium. Sure, they'll have to come up with some kind of excuse - that it would be too expensive to bring ol' DS up to snuff, etc - earthquake codes, something like that. But I think in a few years the team will be on the move. So, they are all lying their asses off.

 

Except he wasn't selling and didn't have to. Remember there was no auction so we will never know how high the other bidders would have actually gone. The LA press has been clueless in much of this and created expectations that reality didn't back up. MLB books are closed and they may be neither able or willing to disclose much of what the press wants to know. We can either enjoy or get off the sofa because the train has left the station and they are the new owners of the team as is. Who knows what they are writing off this year as a loss to offset taxes on profit from their other business interests.

 

Corporations have a habit of not being fully above board.
