Charlie had actually only gotten the late season call up and hadn't done squat for us until he absolutely went off in the NLCS. Still, with how hot he was during it, it was dumb not to give him more opportunities.

Not sure, he had never really done much with the club, even at our MiLB level. The playoffs were eye opening and then he really broke out with the Braves in 2018 before regressing last year up until the injury. I would not mind if they brought him back as cheap replacement for a Taylor or Hernandez if they moved one in a bigger deal for someone of more value. He would be a downgrade, but being that he is a UTL guy, the impact would not be extreme since the other two have their flaws.

Cole is meeting with the Yankees today. According to Heyman, "they are very concerned he may prefer the Angels and Dodgers". They also meet with Strasburg tomorrow.

"The #Dodgers quietly are being aggressive this winter. They're in talks with free-agent third baseman Anthony Rendon, and starting pitchers Stephen Strasburg and Kevin Gausman. Several rivals say LA also is willing to listen to trade offers on several of their high-priced players"

    From Nightengale

I wonder what high priced players he would be referring to. Only Kershaw (2 yrs 62M), Turner(1 yr 16M), Jansen (2yr 32M) and Pollock (4 Yrs 48M) fit in the "high priced" category.

I was sitting outside an Italian restaurant in Arvada, CO watching on my iPhone. Practically the same thing!

Kelly could fit in their too... but I don't see a lot of teams enthusiastically picking up the phone for any of those guys though.

I suppose the report could be referring to arbitration guys like Joc, Seager, or Cody?

Yeah, but he has no value right now and I could see them wanting to give it another go around. While he did give up the season ending bomb, he had looked fantastic the inning prior and had no business being out there a second go around when he was coming back from an injury.

Joc would make some sense, but Seager is not really expensive compared to what you get. I do think they should shop him. Bellinger is a hard no for me, unless they think he isn't close to the guy he was last year due to him once again losing his stance as the season progressed. They would have to get a Herschel Walker return to even consider moving him.

    • It’s a Dodgers dump day, Nightengale is also reporting that the White Sox, among other teams, have been in talks with the Dodgers for Joc Peterson.
    • The LATimes confirms that the Dodgers have had recent sit downs with Strasburg and Rendon.

    Yup.
    Eventually we forget.
But hindsight is where analytics live.
It's looking up and into your own ass.
    Fuck MATH.
Analytics is the most rock dumb easy way to hide bookmaking.
If you see weird shit that you cant explain it's either a miracle or someone is getting paid.
    And the dodgers didn't win.
So we know it's no miracle.

    That's what men do.
    Blow money where it counts.

I was thinking about this right after he tweeted that shit too. Of those, I couldn't fathom a way they'd move Turner or Kershaw, and I could see them trying to move Kenley but I don't think there'd be many takers and that $$, The only ones here I see is Pollock and maybe Maeda could be put into the category with likely incentives, those would be the only 2 that make sense.

I'm thinking long term deals (anything longer than 3 yrs) for any pitcher is a bad deal.

Well, Cole's a dickhead, so that sounds about right. NYY going balls to the wall for him is sort of funny..imagine the press Cole would've gotten in NY if he were w/the Yankees when he decided to slap on the Boras Corp cap and say he's not a part of the team after taking the L in the World Series. NY media would still have Cole in a headlock to this day. Lucky he pulled that stunt in lowly Houston, where the culture is obviously 3rd rate and the media non-existent. I don't see Cole as a guy that has what it takes between the ears to be a boss with NYY. Stras should be NYY's guy, but they probably have a strong feeling that he's going back to DC so that he can continue on with his foot on LAD's throat

And we know Wheeler was oft-injured w/the Mets, so probably a solid chance he goes down again. He has the power stuff, though, so I can understand teams feeling like they can work with him and wanting to roll the dice. If Jordan Zimmermann can get $110M from DET - why not? If I'm Wheeler's agent, don't even waste our time with any offers below 5yrs/$110M

Agreed. That said, it's the name of the game, so sign me up - 6yrs/$250M for Stras, no deferred

Joc is one of those " high priced players " that the Riddler aka Nightenfail aka Nightengale threw at us. Of course, not this season, but that money is likely earmarked in trade negotiations being that the payday is around the corner. Same with Seager
