    First off-season 15 years I haven't made a lineup on a napkin.
Every once in awhile I wonder if and when I will start caring again

You could do a Dodger lineup and use it to wipe your ass. I would. That’s how I feel about managements great escape of improving our team.

Before considering $$$, maybe. For the most part. Still don't know how the Padres' reported interest in Lindor can be taken seriously w/Tatis Jr. @ SS

You're not wrong, although I guess the plan in that situation would be to move Tatis Jr to the OF and slide Lindor into SS. Still, a lot of positional talent wasted, since the Padres would then have 3 of the top-5 SS's in the game and only one of them would actually play SS. As my Padre fan coworker said the other day, "The Padres need pretty much everything, except a SS".

Probably just trying to drive up the price for LAD. Or maybe they'd put Tatis up for sale and look to fill some holes that way? I dunno. Would be interesting to see what Tatis would be able to fetch on the trade market. Obviously, a great, young talent and cheap, but he did have a back injury end his season pretty early. Would teams jump @ the opportunity to add Tatis?

I’d say Tatis would be a perfect fit on any team.

The back thing might make him a candidate to move to the OF.

    can't say
personally, i'm jaded and won't pay a cent for tickets, merchandise, anything
so sick of "the dodgers could do nothing and still be a legitimate ws contender" narrative
the window has come and gone
had the chance to improve last year, did nothing
had another chance this year, nothing
    rinse, repeat
fuck walter, fuck kasten, fuck earvin
they can't use (being above) the luxury tax or (a lack of) prospects as an excuse
and i don't want to hear cole and rendon's flimsy excuses...
do want to play in la? convince them otherwise... and (more) money does talk
btw, there's zero chance they trade for lindor, clevinger or mookie
no way they'd part with lux or may, and no way cleveland/boston wants 2nd tier spects for established stars
fuck this organization, fuck this team
    out

Apparently the Tatis camp was initially pissed about the Padres supposed interest in Lindor and he is not willing to move off of SS to accommodate. There was a rumor earlier in the offseason that the two sides were going to discuss a long term extension, but not much else has been made of the subject. Since there has not been much talk about it in recent weeks, I would not be shocked to hear that the Padres were only rumored to be in on Lindor to make the Dodgers have to offer more. His defensive numbers were rough last year at SS, but I have a hard time believing that they would want to shake that tree. Also, the back injury was said to not be super serious. They were out of it and decided to shut him down to stay on the safe side. With all that said, he is not going anywhere and the Padres would be insane to even entertain that. I don't know what the return would be for him, but it would be an unprecedented package.

    • Puig's market seems to be heating up. The Blue Jays and Marlins seem to be the most serious suitors. The White Sox were rumored to be close to a deal, but that was later denied.
    • There is a rumor that if Arenado is going to be traded, his desired destination would be the Dodgers. This leak is believed to be from within his own camp to pressure the Rockies. With the Angels and Padres both locked in long term at the 3B position, the SoCal native would like to play close to home. The Dodgers would be interested in acquiring the superstar 3B, but get this, they are willing to wait until his free agency in 2 years if the Rockies asking price for him does not come down. Reports are that the Rockies are telling teams they would need to take on the entirety of the 7 years $234M remaining on Arenado's contract, PLUS add on a substantial haul of top prospects. Several reports have said that the Rockies have been deemed incredibly unrealistic and unreasonable to even deal with at this point, making the chances of him being traded, very unlikely.
    • Jim Duquette reported the other night that the Cubs asking price for Kris Bryant is insane as well. The Cubs are asking for a package that would completely revamp their system to the tune of multiple top 100 prospects as well as at least a potential superstar headliner if they were to deal him. He mentioned that they are looking for something bigger than the Adam Eaton return of a couple years back and are using it as an example in trade talks. Duquette said that this whole arbitration thing is a mess behind the scenes and that the chances of Bryant remaining with the Cubs beyond the rest of his contract is close to 0%. The presumption around the game is that he is almost certainly going to lose his grievance and talks are centered around 2 years of control. Still, the chances of him being traded are slim at this point. He said the Braves reached out a couple weeks ago and the asking price was Austin Riley, Kyle Wright and another couple top Braves prospects. He thinks they also asked for Drew Waters or Ian Anderson in the trade, but couldn't get that confirmed. That's a whole lot for a guy that hasn't been MVP caliber since 2017.
    • There is a growing belief that the Dodgers are about to pull back and start focusing on the season with the pieces they have in place. There are multiple voices within the front office that want to start tearing some of the MLB roster apart, but the risk averse higher ups are rebuffing this notion to SOME degree. They do all agree that something needs to change to get over the hump, but have said that they will not be unreasonable in trade talks to make it happen. The feelings are from within that other teams have not been realistic in trade talks with the org and are making things harder than they should be. I.E. the "Dodgers Tax" that has been groaned about is apparently somewhat real. Teams are regularly asking for Lux and May in talks, but the team is said to not be willing to include them in deals. I have heard a number of MLB Radio folks that have said that many within the industry think Lux is going to be a superstar as soon as this season and understand why the club is so unwilling to consider moving him. If the season started today, the Dodgers would be the overwhelming favorites to win the NL. The league champ Nationals took a massive hit to their lineup and other contenders around the NL have not and don't appear to be on the cusp of doing anything drastic enough to put themselves in the drivers seat. The Braves are the team that is on the cusp of becoming a problem, but there are some questions about just how good they truly are at getting their prospects over the final hurdle. So industry people think the Dodgers could decide to withdraw and make needed changes at the deadline as they have in '16, '17 and '18. It seems like the Josh Donaldson decision could have the biggest impact on the rest of the offseason.

That's one of the negatives about having lots of talent. Even if their 3rd best prospect is better than half of the mlb teams the teams want one and two. I wonder if it has SOME trade optics thing. Teams want to sell the trade as getting a teams top prospects

puig reunited with mattingly would be great drama for an otherwise dull team/organization

lol at the dodgers willing to wait for arenado to reach free agency
    wait for what?...
so they can leak out rumors of being involved and then sit back to let someone else sign him
not falling for that shit again
that said... if the rockies asking price is absurd, fuck them

and fuck bryant, fuck the cubs
still a solid player, but like you said... years removed from being an mvp candidate
    pass

    dodgers standing pat... shocker [sarcasm]
i get wanting to hold onto any top prospect
but imo if you can swap them for established stars, you do it
not discounting lux, but seager was supposed to be a star too
    proven > potential

    just my (bitter) 2 cents
