Never seen anything like it. It's positively a testament to Kobe, but it says a lot about today's society.

Kobe's death got me to thinking about whose passing outside of family and friends could move my emotions to tears. Kobe's was a gut punch, just like when Big D passed away alone in his Montreal hotel room. But no tears.

I'm thinking when (perish the thought) Vin dies I might need a hankie or two. He was as much a part of my life as anyone outside of family and friends.

    Its expected.
Hes James Dean and Kurt Cobain and John Lennon and Tupac and JFK plus he's black Batman after the last movie in the new bat cave with his girl wonder.
Kobe seems like the type to go around in his mambawing fighting evil and doing good deeds in secret.

Yeah, Chick Hearn passing hurt far more than Kobe for me. I loved watching Kobe and loved what he did for the Lakers, but Chick was in my ear and in my head for 30+ years of listening to and watching the Lakers.

I gave up on the Dodgers after the O'mallys sold the franchise, but still think of Vinny as the voice of baseball the same way Chick is the voice of basketball in my head. It will be a sad day when he passes.

With all due respect, I’m going to side with bestie on this one. For starters, I’d say pick your battles. Now, I’m not someone leaving flowers and candles or shedding tears for someone I don’t really know; but a lot of shit is going on in this world, surely a girl putting a candle by a restaurant and reflecting on a celebrity’s death isn’t a major problem in your life. Her “grieving” seems unauthentic or off because it’s not grief. She probably thinks it is, but it’s not. She didn’t lose someone. This doesn’t affect her day to day life. She’s reflecting on death, and death is a bitch of a concept. 150k people die everyday, it’s impossible to take all that on, but when someone we’ve seen on a TV dies, some people use that as an opportunity to reflect. Anyone rushing to the crash site or taking pictures in front of Kobe’s house is an asshole, but people going to Staples or Kobe’s high school or a restaurant, that’s just people doing what they do. I think we all agree this is an incredibly tragic event, so don’t overthink it, there’s no need to judge people if they aren’t hurting anyone.

I say give bestie a break and stop being such a curmudgeon. Give her a hug, mix her a drink, whatever it is you do. /endRant

Why you gotta judge huh? you rat faced punk!
    But yeah...
I watch bill burr sometimes and he's hilarious of course.
I would probably get along with him great.
Yet the fact that his shtick is not just jokes but a reflection of the daily fatigue from having to deal with people not as smart as himself on a daily basis.
Comedians are masters of ceremonies and many ceremonies are filled with hecklers who think they can out master the guy holding the ceremony.
This I'm sure takes its toll.
    Like being a teacher does.
Curmudgeon tendencies for a lifetime teacher are like ptsd symptoms for a veteran war hero.
I think like BlueMouse 100 percent of the time.
    Just not always initially.
And not always at the middle.
But in the end it's the spirit that should prevail over temporary emotions.
    It's for our own good.
At least according to the life lesson plan I've been getting.
But then again... I'm not the best student.
Which is best expressed whenever I think Ithe best course of action is to teach someone a life lesson so their behavior can more align with my idea of what's good.
    Yet I share finskis taste.
But I hope I can temper it with BMs conscience.
Which was probably pretty similar to finskis 30 years ago.

Kind of like starting a sentence with "to tell you the truth."

Like you've been bullshitting them before.

    Speaking of....

NBA Announces Kobe Bryant Tributes as Part of 2020 All-Star Game Format Changes

The NBA announced Thursday that it will honor late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant during NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago next month.

One of the tributes will be a nod to Bryant's No. 24 jersey. The NBA is using a target score in the untimed fourth quarter of the All-Star Game, which will be 24 points more than the score of the team leading after three quarters.

That means the team leading after three quarters will win the game if it reaches 24 points or the team trailing after three quarters will win if it reaches the total of the leading team plus an additional 24 points.

Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant, died in a helicopter crash along with seven others Sunday. Kobe was 41 years old.

In addition to the target score, the NBA is planning to honor Kobe and Gianna in other ways that have yet to be revealed.

NBA President of League Operations Byron Spruell said: "We spent a lot of time considering the right target number to use for the fourth quarter. Through the events of this week, it became clear to us that the only appropriate number for this season's All-Star game is 24."

Each quarter of the All-Star Game will be a minigame as well. The team that wins the quarter will earn money for a Chicago charity. In each of the first three quarters, $100,000 will be on the line, while the team that wins the fourth quarter will earn $200,000 for charity.

The new format is a one-year trial for the All-Star Game in hopes of making it more competitive. With a target score rather than a clock in the fourth quarter, it is guaranteed that a player will have to hit a winning shot in order to secure the victory.

Spruell noted that if things go well, the target score and charity element could return for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis.

The 2020 NBA All-Star Game will be played at the United Center in Chicago on Feb. 16 pitting Team LeBron against Team Giannis.

Lakers star LeBron James and Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will draft their teams next week.

The NBA's All-Stars will be playing this year with Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant on their minds and on their jerseys.

So, coming soon: No. 24 Giannis Antetokounmpo and No. 2 LeBron James.

As part of what will be a series of tributes to Bryant and his daughter Gianna, the NBA announced Friday that every player on Team Giannis will wear 24 on his jersey and every player on Team LeBron will wear 2 at this year's All-Star Game.

Pelinka's on his own, now. Hope he's up to it

NBA Insider @ShamsCharania reports Carmelo Anthony will not play Friday night against the Lakers in Los Angeles "because of his continued grieving and emotions over the loss of Kobe Bryant on Sunday."
