Warriors say good riddance to Russell. https://www.sfgate.com/warriors/art...rade-why-Andrew-Wiggins-NBA-sour-15038474.php
So handing Russell $29M a year has made him even more of a jackass? Who woulda thought? Already having played for 4 different teams, guessing he's about halfway to his final destination
article said it had nothing to do with with his personality or the way he acted. Just a bad positional fit and he didn't play defense.
Collison will make his decision next week. Kobe's memorial will be on 2-24 @ Staples..well done. Still hard to believe, but well done. Kuz thinks it's hard to go from 32 minutes a game to 25 minutes a night. If he's not careful, he's gonna go from 25 minutes a game to 5 minutes a game when Cousins comes back. Could easily see AD picking up half the minutes that Kuz plays @ SF and Cousins taking those PF minutes. AD's certainly good enough to do it and they could deem Cousins a more trustworthy play in the playoffs. Kuz better start putting together some consistency
Article also said that they were " eager to get rid of him " and that they figured out he wasn't worth the time " rather quickly ". There are guys that don't play defense all over the league, but Russell has become one of those guys that you're " eager to get rid of " because he's a jackass and he doesn't instill confidence that he'll ever pick it up.
24 turnovers yesterday, dedicated to Kobe. Seriously, though..the Kobe tributes from every team have to be draining for LAL. Already have opposing teams coming into these games overly amped to play well in honor of Kobe. Maybe the additional stress will be good for LAL at the end of the day and get them into playoff mode a little earlier? Although, LAL struggling to put the Warriors away yesterday was way better than the Clippers having their asses handed to them by the Timberwolves 142-115
They were playing like crap before Kobe's copter went down, especially against teams above .500 24 turnovers and giving up 120 pts to a G league team is a disgrace.
having a let down against the worst team in the league isn't something you hope for but it happens the turnovers were inexcusable but the young guys on GS hit some great shots as well they're going to be in a LOT better shape when the stars get back
It was pretty clear Vogel saw a weak opponent and was trying "new" things out with the rotation that very obviously didn't work. The minutes distribution among pretty regular contributors (Dwight, KCP, Caruso) vs some other guys who don't normally play that much (Daniels, McGee) was pretty fucked up. I'm not putting much of anything into that game.
Daniels potentially getting a little showcase time before they waive him for Collison. If Collison actually does decide to come back, what they could use at that point would be an athletic wing. Would have to guess that's the idea of working out JR Smith. Just wish it wasn't JR Smith. Sort of shows how desperate they are for a bigger, athletic wing that they can give playoff minutes to over the likes of Kuz. Shitty as JR is a lot of the time, will say he's shot pretty well from 3 point land in about 100 career playoff games. And there's been times where he's played solid D against wing scorers in the playoffs, too. At the very least, he would provide at least some resistance against a Kawhi or George. Would be a bitter pill to swallow, though, similar to bringing Dwight back. Basically, the wing version of Javale. Maybe they'll sign Jeff Green instead
If Kobe and his work ethic were still around, JR Smith might actually work. Kobe made Metta an actual NBA thinker. Changed the arc of his career. Unfortunately, Kobe is gone. Is Jeremy Lin available? Just kidding.
JR's already been part of a championshion rotation. Was on the team that beat GSW @ Oracle in Game 7. LeBron's clutch chase down block against Iguodala doesn't happen if JR doesn't get back on defense and make Iguodala change his shot. Definitely wish there were more options, but as stupid as he is, he's definitely among the most accomplished options right now. The buyout market could be interesting. Looks like Harkless could be bought out, so maybe they wait another week or two before pulling the trigger on anything
The good thing about JR is that he gives no fucks like a closer in baseball. He can look like a moron one moment and put it aside and make shit happen in the clutch. Plus imo he may look at the Lakers as the final frontier. As the true major leagues. He looks chiseled. And if JR is anything is a tool to be wielded by a powerful smith. LeBron is that smith. Look what he's done for Javale and Dwight. Not everyone can relate to Mamba mentality and just do it and follow the Jordan rules. That's ok though. Some guys are tools. And they just want to be used. But you got to rub them the right way. For the knuckledragging part of their head gets suppressed and their genius sprouts out.
Welp. Adrian Wojnarowski@wojespn Veteran guard Darren Collison has decided that he won’t return to the NBA this season and plans to stay retired, league sources tell ESPN. Lakers and Clippers had been courting him, but Collison has informed teams that the timing isn’t right for him.
Translation. Collision wants to glom onto a sure fire winner....like a parasite on a GS like train 2 years ago.
