Considering he asked everyone in MLB to not talk about it, yeah, he’s not happy.

Of course, Manfred let Correa off the hook without punishment, so he probably expected him to fall in line more easily. But what do you expect from dumb jocs whose best plan involved banging a fucking trash can.

Hopefully it’s enough for him to lose his job too. That would be total justice for protecting the Asterisk

    • Justin Turner laying waste to Manfred right now. The gap-toothed piece of shit will be in AZ tomorrow for a second interview, apparently.
    • Mookie Betts posted a pretty cool video thanking Boston and ended it with a nice new beginnings segment in LA.
    • Graterol will be throwing with the team for the first time since the trade. He has been out with a nasty case of the flu.
    • Dustin May is dealing with soreness in his side and he is getting shut down for second. It is not a big deal and seen just as a usual camp ramp up thing.
    • Honeycutt showed up to camp this morning.
    • Turns out that Verdugo had a stress fracture in his back which is what ended his season. It is said to not be something that is expected to be a reoccurring problem. The Red Sox are said to want to slow play his return.
    • The Clevinger injury is only supposed to take him out of action for 6-8 weeks. With him missing camp, I would not be shocked if it is 3 months before we see him back in action.
    • Mike Trout joined the chorus of folks that have spoken ill of the Astros now.

Man, he must have been really bad in the clubhouse to not see anything yet. What a total waste of talent that guy has turned out to be. Bulldozes through the league for 2 years, then just mediocre ever since. All he had to do was listen to the coaches about positioning in the OF and that would probably have been enough to just get him MLB contract. I wonder if he went somewhere with a tough/spanish speaking coach, if they could finally get through to this guy. Not sure where that would be, but it seems like it may be one of the only ways to get through to this guy.

I am curious to watch the Padres this season. We have a lot of attention, for good reason, but there are a few "Preller is running out time" notions being thrown around the sport. It sounds like if he can't field at least a .500 team this year, he could be fired. That factor could make for a dangerous situation for the club down south if the Pads gets off to a slow start... or a super hot one, knoeing Preller's tendencies. There are a good amount of scouts and analysts that think that Paddack is going to take a decent step backwards this year and that their starting pitching could be worse in general than last season. Besides him, their rotation was iffy to begin with and while Gore is one of the top prospects in all of baseball, they could do some damage to his development if they bring him up too quickly, though he does appear close. The rumor that they were willing to part with such a good prospect in Campusano for Betts was an eyebrow raiser for me as yes, Betts absolutely would have boosted the club's performance, but they still had a massive issue in their rotation and this did nothing to fix that. The other problem for the Padres right now is a large chunk of their great pitching prospects have started to slide down into reliever territory, making their immediate future on even more shaky ground(it's why many clubs believe you develop hitters and trade your pitching prospects for starters). It will be interesting to see if Preller panics and overpays for someone this season at the expense of the long term future for this club.

Something else of note is there seems to be a problem of sorts in the clubhouse. Apparently Machado rubbed some people the wrong way and the Pham trade was partially an attempt to get someone in the locker room that would tear guys a new asshole for slacking off. He has always had a reputation of not being well liked, but it was from guys across the diamond and media, while his teammates always seem to like him. Machado did not impress in his first season with the club posting WAR's of 3.1(BBRef & FG) and 1.5 (BP), while also struggling against RHP'ing (.715OPS) and at home (.703 OPS). When the club is already looking down the barrel of two awful long term contracts in Hosmer and Myers, Machado not turning back into a superstar could put the org in a tough situation. I would bet good money that 2019 was just a blip, but man if this is one where the dude got paid and he is happy now, that could sink that ship really fast.

I give them credit for spending money, but they have done some weird things with it when they have and I don't think it was done wisely. They were always a couple of years away and instead of probably using the funds on guys that coulda been trade bait when the kids started to show up, was a poor choice. They play in a division where they have two behemoths that can usually buy themselves out of trouble(the Giants just fucked things up to the 10th degree), so when a little guy like them spends big, they need to hit. Not miss, then miss again, then tie up more funds for even longer in hopes of buying their way out of trouble.

There are some rocky seas on the horizon and there is more pressure than ever for the Padres to win and win now. If not careful, they could have a situation where how they navigate those waters impacts their course for the next 5 years.

Dodgers signed Terrance Gore to an MiLB deal. He can't hit, but defense and speed are his thing. Interesting as the 26th man, plus not only the depth on the roster, but versatility of it at basically every position could make him a useful player come playoff time. Fun fact, he had been in the majors for parts of 5 seasons before getting his FIRST hit in 2018 with the White Sox. Ended up playing a bit more last year and put up a respectable .275/.362 AVG/OBP with 13 SB's, but a poor ratio thanks to 5 CS.

Like I said, his teammates had always seemed to like him in LA and Baltimore, it was always the other guys he pissed off which is generally ok, to a point. I have only seen it in a couple of places where they said the clubhouse was not great, but it was brought up in the same light that it was why Pham is there now. It will be interesting to see how the club responds to Pham being in the clubhouse as his approach wore out his welcome in STL.

    Some more notes,
    • Kershaw has shed some weight and came to camp after his first fully healthy offseason in a few years. He was able to stay more active during the winter which allowed him to keep playing catch and he has started the spring feeling strong compared to year's past where he struggled to get things going. We will see how that impacts the rest of his game.
    • Ross Stripling has a new changeup grip that apparently everyone really likes as it is very deceptive out of the hand. The club is using their tech to figure out how it works and see if it does in fact have better action than his old grip, but players said that they really struggled with it.
    • Jimmy Nelson also has some soreness in his groin area, but it is nothing major.
    • Yadier Alvarez IS back, but they are not sure for how long. He remains on the Restricted List and has not been allowed to work out with the team.
    • Arte Moreno confirmed that he was the reason that the Pederson/Stripling deal was nixed. He says there were other factors beyond him being impatient and he felt the resources used could have better been used to acquire a frontline starter.
    • Apparently Greinke is not showing up until the last day players are required to report by the league. Greinke usually has some problems creep up in the first couple weeks of ST that include "HE'S THROWING 82 MPH FASTBALL'S" stories that then get whipped away as he ramps up.
