    sadly, won't happen
like diablo said, roberts will continue to march him out there regardless
but to be fair, the starters really need to start going deeper into games as colorado noted
not that's it always their fault...
hard to understand robert's logic (oxymoron) when he'll often leave relievers out there far too long to die, and yet have a quick hook for guys like may, gonsolin and urias
glad he's being patient with lux and giving him the opportunity... but how the fuck are our young starters going to get used to dealing with adversity when they're not given the chance?
i guess we might as well get used to it... not like roberts is going to suddenly have an epiphany on the matter

The weird thing about the bullpen as a whole is that, even though they’ve been successful, they aren’t striking out guys often in high leverage. Treinen, Graterol, and Jansen just don’t strike guys out at the rate you’d want for their respective roles. BUT, they’re generally speaking getting weak contact. The defense has helped a lot and will need to continue to be great but the lack of K’s is worrisome for sure.
It is a little weird, especially with Blake and Brusdar cause their stuff is nasty but it just gets hit often. Even once we put some starters in the bullpen, I don’t know how much Urias/May/Gonsolin will help

best bet is that the contact stays weak and that one of Baez/Kelly step up

Roberts isn't acting unilaterally on the handling of the young pitchers. The coddling seems to be an organizational philosophy.

Baez is steady, but unspectacular. Kelly is a coin flip. Completely undependable.

Also goes to illustrate that all the oohs and ahhs and pre ejaculate generated from 100mph fast ball means almost zero except on the machismo meter.
If.you're Jacob DeGrom, who puts it where he wants, it's devastating. Or Buehler ( for about 2 nnings)...but for ML hitters, it's just a matter of time before they get it.

What really impressed me about Lux last night is how he recovered from a horrible AB (the K on a pitch high out of the zone with two runners on). Next AB he hits the 3 run bomb. That's impressive for a young player.

Tip 'o the Dodger cap to Rios, too. Two run double to tie the game, then was robbed of what could have been a bases clearing double down the line in his next AB.

    Yeah...very talented dude.
Just can't imagine painting on a surface as large as the side of a building.
Guy's definitely not shy about signing his name...I guess I might be the same, given I had the same talent.

That Rios play was huge. Good on the DBacks 1B, because if that gets through it's 3 runs like you said. Full count, the runners were going.

Nice play by Walker, but it wasn't in the same league as the DP turned by Rojas. I've never seen a play like that. That was Ozzie Smith/Omar Vizquel stuff.

I know it is one game, but I think Lux breaking out and finding his way has been kind of ho-hum by many not just on here, but amongst the fanbase as well. This is not just SOME prospect that we are talking about with Lux. We are talking arguably the highest ceiling prospect that we have had come up since Seager. He is roundly considered one of the top 5 prospects in baseball, #2 by more than a couple just behind arguably the best hitting prospect to grace us since Vlad Sr. His hit tool is ranked between 60-70 on the 20-80 scale and his power is viewed as at least a 60+. This is a guy who if he lives up to his potential, is someone that would put up numbers in line with Corey Seager's 2016. Complain about this kid taking his time to figure shit out, but man oh man do I hope that last night was his coming out party as that would be a major addition to this lineup at a time where we are going to need it.

Especially with both Muncy and Bellinger still dragging ass at the plate and Turner still on the sideline.
