Midnight last night was the cut off, but I would assume that the loophole for injured players still exists.

 

I'm sure all the cheap teams love it, like the Pirates, Rays, Royals, Marlins, Orioles, A's, and Indians. The teams who spend money but are still ass, and don't know why, probably also love it like the Rockies, Angels, and Astros.

 

• There have not been many reports out of Alt-Sites, but the things I have heard is that Gray's velo was up and he was looking good. The opinion at the time though was that he was still not ready for an MLB rotation spot. Kind of disappointing as most pre-season projections had him making his debut this year. He has been working on refining his secondaries and his change was still very much a work in progress, but he was showing a better feel for the pitch.

• The team recalled McKinstry today, the assumption is that Ferguson to IL... which, not great, Bob. Also tells you how the team feels about our lefty bats at present.

Yeah, got worried there for a bit, but it makes sense since they did that with Gonsolin too. Wonder if they are gonna do the BP day thing with both coming out of the pen instead since they have experience and success as relievers. He is absolutely going to be needed as a starter if we get to the second round.

Roberts said an MRI exam Wednesday revealed “a pretty good tear” in Caleb Ferguson’s ulnar collateral ligament and he could miss the rest of the season.

Ferguson injured his left elbow on his third pitch of his relief appearance Tuesday and immediately exited. He was placed on the 10-day injured list before Wednesday’s game.

Ferguson, 24, underwent Tommy John surgery as a high school senior in 2014. Roberts said Ferguson will decide whether to opt for surgery or pitch through the injury.

The left-hander had been one of the Dodgers’ best relievers this season. He allowed runs in just four of his 21 appearances and posted 13 strikeouts per nine innings.


PEDERSON AWAY FROM TEAM AGAIN

Joc Pederson was placed on the family medical emergency list minutes before the first pitch Wednesday. Utility man Zach McKinstry, who had already traveled to San Diego from Los Angeles, was recalled to take his place on the roster.

The move came five days after Pederson was activated from the paternity list. Players must spend at least three days on the family medical emergency list before returning. Roberts declined to share the reason for Pederson’s absence.
