This is one of those offseasons where it can change the direction of your franchise for the next decade. Not only for the good, but spend some money poorly and you can set yourselves back. Will be interesting to watch. Astros could be walking away from the next couple of offseasons fairly pilfered.

oh no question it just reminds me when we were "in" on every FA for a decade
would be a crying shame to see the asstros damaged for eternity

...and may the Gods grant that it comes to fruition.
So let it be written, so let it be done.

    • In a piece that I can not access, Buster Olney apparently said that from what he is hearing, a Dodgers-Rockies deal for Arenado is going to be nearly impossible to pull off. Like I have said in the past, the Rockies FO and ownership do not like the Dodgers and it would take a gross overpay for them to send a star player to us. Something we don't need to do.
    • Andy McCullough had an article about Corey Seager this morning. Unless everyone is playing this coy, it does not sound like the 2 sides have engaged in extension talks. He said from what he is hearing from the club, if they were to re-sign Corey, the team is likely looking at Buehler or Bellinger as someone that is not going to be a piece of the franchise long term... and vice-versa. He thinks the club may take this year to watch Gavin Lux, then make a decision after that. He believes the club is also somewhat hesitant to give a monster deal to a guy that has such a checkered health history, but points out that Seager has taken weight training much more seriously and last year focused heavily on better strengthening his lower half. I have been back and forth on this, but I think the club is going to hang tight and not sign Seager to an extension. Next off season could be really interesting with 5 star short stops on the market as well as a scenario with 3 star 3B, in the event Kris Bryant returns to form, Seager has another mediocre year of D at SS and if Arenado opts out, the market will be heavily saturated in guys looking for big contracts with less teams to compete with for their services if Covid heavily impacts the upcoming season. The Dodgers could wait things out then strike on multiple fronts, or allocate resources elsewhere if Lux finally breaks out.
    • Expect some finite decisions this week on the future of MiLB for the upcoming season. The league is going to begin sending out PDL's(Professional Development Licenses) to the 120 teams that made the cut. It will be interesting to watch unfold as some franchises have said they will simply refuse if they are moved down levels or into franchises they are not interested in. The move to shrink affiliates has been met with plenty of criticism, but one can argue that there is some understanding for the moves. Some of the changes to expect:
      • There will now only be AAA, AA, HiA and LoA. Short Season leagues are gone. Rookie Level clubs will be based out orgs spring training facilities and at DR complexes.
      • Seasons lengths have changed to 132 for A, 138 for AA and 144 for AAA
      • Leagues are expected to be an East-West for AAA, Central-South-Northeast for AA, Mid Atlantic-Midwest-Northwest for HiA, Cal-Florida-Southeast for Low A. The Dodgers affiliates are expected to be in the West, South, Northwest and Cal Leagues.
    • Baseball America announced the Dodgers as the organization of the year.

Huh? Did I miss something? Aren’t the minor league cuts something MLB has wanted to do well before COVID?

The only thing Covid did was kill the MiLB season last year. This was all expected to happen this year.

Fresno has a beautiful AAA facility built in 2002. The Giants, the Astros and the Nationals (made no sense) have been the affiliates. Despite the shifting affiliations, the team was pretty well supported.

Now the Nationals have pulled out and Fresno might have to settle for an A team. Fresno had a Cal League team until 1998.

tickets are going to be$ 55 -115 per car
wonder why they didn't just charge $50 per person and make more money
seriously who the fuck decides $50 a car isn't enough to drive through the fucking parking lot and goes for that extra $5
i guess if you drive a nice car its $115

    Covid is like hoobastank.
The reason was their only hit.
And covid is gonna be the reason why many things change that folks been meaning to change.
    By reason i mean excuse.
But since its temperamental fear science based the excuse will go down as well reasoned.
So any beefs not settled, any revenge not served, any deals unreneged, etc...
All will be settled, served, or reneged.
And friends will become strangers in the night saying goodbye stranger, its been nice... hope you find your paradise!

This team is really holding out hope that Alexander turns back into the dude he was before we acquired him. Been frustrating to watch this guy languish since we got him, he looked to be turning a corner a bit last year, but still struggled to throw strikes. Kind of surprised that they would hold onto him after he was at the Alt site the last month. I wonder if they were finally able to work something out that gives them hope going forward. The fact that they fully guaranteed his contract means that they have to have seen something they like.

These are the moves that I smile at. While many mock them I know this regime has proven they can reclaim once great relievers. Not much to lose.
