Now that I think about it, Doc took Kershaw out at 80 pitches after he had just retired 9 in a row including the meat of the their order at the end of it, he was good for another inning.

Dream scenario is dodgers lose, Dave is fired, JT becomes player manager.

Thought they got about all they could out of Kershaw. Bobbed and weaved through five innings. Three hard hit balls in the last inning (all outs) probably sealed his fate.

So many blown opportunities. A bunt by Lux would have been nice, but do you ask a player who never bunts to bunt Suarez' 100 mph stuff? I don't think so.

Agreed with Barnes instead of Taylor. Taylor would have swung through three Hader fastballs. At least Barnes made solid contact.

Shit luck for Bazooka. Only hard hit ball that inning was the final out to Bellinger. Play by Graterol on the bunt was as good as you'll see from a pitcher.

Fuck the Padres (and the Giants).

and why is it that every player is incapable of using the bunt as a weapon?
even if its a putty knife you still know how to use it as a professional
the team isn't prepared and that's on management to whatever degree they've decided to ignore fundamental baseball

Nah no way. Taylor has past success vs Hader. Barnes doesn’t. Austin Barnes should not ever be the first pinch hit choice off the bench. I don’t care that Barnes made contact. He hit a ball with a zero percent probability of being a hit.

Crazy Joe will be in RF Fri. night...and if Taylor can't play ( I have nothing against him), then why is he wasting a roster spot. ?

Past Taylor isn't the same as current Taylor, especially one who's coming off an injury.

I know this is a "rag on Dave" frenzy, and well deserved, too...but the look on his face these two games is quite different than it usually is. So many times in the past, even when he's really not sure if he's doing the right thing, which is very common, he manages a fascade of bravado and a sense of " I'm in charge and I got this" confidence.
But these two games, he's got none of that at all, and the only thing he is exuding is being tentative and in doubt.
With good reason, judging on the results and seeming lack of preparation.
