Mookie and Arenado..quite the bloodthirsty duo if things do work out in negotiations. Fiery competitors day in and day out. 162 games of that level of action..of unrivaled passion for the game and winning? Don't mind if we do

Yeah, that was interesting part to me cause, yes the opt out almost seems to help a team like the Rockies. I thought the same thing in that it probably helps unless the Dodgers are interested in taking on the whole amount or they are going to be sending the Rockies a ton of prospects and they are desperate for them. The other risk for the Rockies is that he gets hurt and doesn't opt out, suddenly you have a dude with an NTC that's not worth his contract on your roster.

That was something that Bowden mentioned. The Dodgers like that they would be bringing in a dude that is absolutely zeroed in on winning. I guess the FO feels it would be a needed presence in the clubhouse.

A silver lining in the Arenado rumors, if they are true it means the Dodgers probably aren't concerned with the Luxury tax in 2021. I know there is a lot coming off the books in 2022, so maybe they think they have another chance to reset it before they need to pay some of the younger guys. Or maybe they don't care. As a fan I like it if they don't care about the tax.

Morosi mentioned Lux as a possible trade piece, but if Arenado is a precursor to letting Seager walk I would think Lux becomes even more valuable to the Dodgers.

Yeah, this would mean that they are planning on resetting in a year. Something they mentioned on the NBA channel when talking about the tax, they said that the league was going to ease the tax burden this year on teams after the hit from last season. I wonder if that could be in play for MLB as well. If so, Dodgers are getting ahead of it.

We also are a year away from 5 star SS's becoming free agents and if we have another shortened season + no fans in the stands as is presumed, there are going to be a lot of teams that are hurting a year from now. The Dodgers could simply sit back and wait to grab one of those guys at a discounted rate. Still, no fucking way is Lux in the deal unless the team is really worried about Lux.

I will say this, if the Dodgers REALLY are talking to the Rockies about Arenado... there are 29 other teams in the league that are starting to sweat.

Absolutely. I wasn't shitting on the team when I pointed out their fortune in coming back from 3-1..in avoiding a Game 7 VS Tampa. Things ended up working out for LAD, but fans wanted their heads just a couple weeks before. Lol They simply weren't dominant. FO should want to be dominant

We know our team and how bland they can be at times. Still work needed on the culture. Heavy lifting is done for the most part..still need to ditch the very heavy Jansen and his shit, but the ball is rolling. I called Kasten - that asshole - who could push for another big addition..maybe he's behind this push for Arenado? We know this - after the Braves added McGriff and eventually won big, they got passive and never won again. Guess we'll just have to see if any of this Arenado stuff has real legs

Apparently the FO has been very vocal behind in the scenes in saying that this is not a one and done goal. I think the org is very well aware of the Braves "yeah, but" run and don't want to be known as the team that dominated the division for a decade to only walk away with a single title. If they are in on Arenado, I would be really interested to see what else is going on behind the scenes right now.

yeah if there’s one year where it doesn’t hurt as much to lose your all star short stop, it’s next year haha. I’m not surprised boras and Seager won’t want to sign yet, there’s so many damn variables out there and Seager is coming off arguably the highest his value has ever ever been. We’re in November, he’s got so much time to change his tune.

I also don’t think it’s crazy for Dodgers to have Seager/Nolan/Mookie. I’d hate to NOT get arenado to save for a hypothetical with Seager. You get the damn good players, and you’re 2021 is unreal. You figure out 2022 later, a million things could happen.

I'm not gonna lie... I may have taken that quote out of context. I thought Pillar was subtley shitting on Arenado.

I mean let's be honest here, Seager's defensive metrics were pretty bad last season as well. The FO may be reluctant to pay him as a star SS for 7-8 years when they may think of him as a 3B in the real near future. The more I look at it, the more I think this is a powerplay to say to Seager, "sign a deal with us or we are getting the guy that is playing the position you would have if you re-signed and we can look at one of the more athletic SS's next offseason before making a decision on you."

Having to win 3 straight after losing 3 of 4 to a playoff-worthy team - the second best team in the NL and possibly in MLB - doesn't taint the season as far as I'm concerned. Statistically, the Dodgers were dominant this year.

All the more reason he should extend now rather than risk another season.

If he came to the team looking for an extension now that should throw a red flag and scare the shit out of them, especially since he's a Boras client.

They still probably feel like they got fucked by Brett Anderson.

Braves possibly being the 2nd best team in MLB this past season doesn't really speak well of the level of competition this year....but it was a 60 game season with all kinds of fuckery going on, so there you go. Pretty much told you the same thing the other day about Seager when you were ready to lock him into SS for the next 7-10 years because he performed well over 60-75 games after years of injuries/struggles..after they just shopped him last offseason. Chill..he's not very good at playing SS. Was this Braves team on par with NLCS participants of the past? On par with the Cards, Giants, Nats or even Cubs? I think not

Obviously overjoyed that the 32 year drought ended and celebrated it for more than a week, so the season wasn't tainted for me..they competed like everyone else. But after the smoke clears, gotta see it for what it was and look to upgrade accordingly. Gotta sit all the cute stories aside and fix the warts. Signing Seager to a wild long term deal to play SS for the next 7-10 years = that cute story. This team was a couple base-running blunders away from another postseason disaster. It's the sort of fortune that we were owed after years of misfortune, but expecting these breaks going forward isn't practical. Gotta check in on guys like Arenado and Lindor. You see it happening. That's that

..that was my 2nd thought when hearing this

3rd - Dodgers potentially being used by the ROX to leverage another deal

    1st - get it done
