Not mad at those. So many teams adopting gold and trying to steal LAL's signature look, solid alternative to the purple road unis
They gave me what I asked for so I'm good with them. I wanted more black trim with the purple and 3 colors..not 4 like the purple unis that were unveiled a month or so ago, however long it's been. Never made any sense to have 4 different colors on a uni, so I hope they nix the road purples and just wear these city editions most of the time
I think the city edition unis are going to change from year to year for every team. City edition unis last year were the Black Kobe inspired ones that had the snake pattern. Year before that they were the black Hollywood Nights unis, so it'll be something different next year as well. Then of course, the Sunday whites landed in about 2005 or so and everybody loves those and the baby blue Minneapolis throwbacks. Dodgers actually did break from tradition a couple years ago, have essentially canned their " Los Angeles " road unis for the ones that just say " Dodgers " on the front
Dodgers went for a little change in the late 90's as well. Almost forgot about those blue jerseys from the Mondesi era
Celtics fans on Twitter having hissy fits over Rondo's comments Lol They're wasting their time and they know it, Rondo doesn't give a fuck..of all the players in the league, he may have the least amount of fucks to offer
Merchandising sales are a HUGE factor in franchise profitability.. huuuuuge$$$ involved because 'the marketing think goes' that die hard fans will need to get one of every style so every new variant introduced is a huge cash cow... as long as one ignores the negative effects of brand dilution. What? Brand dilution? What is that? Yeah like pinstripes=Yankees=success=$$$ So LeBoner wants pinstripes because #success; as if ruining the Lakers purple and gold 'brand' costs nothing. don't get me started
Yep. Of course, we know what the bottom line is for ownership. That dollar. I'm sure the Fox group was happy to grab the cash they made from selling those blue Dodgers jerseys in the late 90's. Now they just go about it in a different way, throw up a billion advertisements in Dodger Stadium. O'Malley threw a white a boarder behind the LAD lettering in '88 and grabbed that cash too. They find ways. Happens to the best of them. Celtics have changed as well. And yeah, LeBron likely had a hand in the pinstripes being added. The next monster FA they sign or trade for may have similar privileges
Are you thinking about the Heroes edition that had the white piping all over the chest? Beltre's 1st career hit - blue LAD jersey against the Halos. They had a big brawl with the Pirates in those jerseys as well, IIRC. Jogging my memory today. Lol Jason Kendall was a prick
LAL is going to trade Zo for Lillard, and I don't think I like it. Hopefully this rumor is to just light a fire
Well Lilliard is a proven vet and a known bigtime scorer. What D? And Lonzo has yet to display that his sack has dropped in a bunch of ways. So? Maybe lighting a fire is a good thing.
Yeah I heard part of an interview with him claiming his input to the new jersey's was exactly the pinstripes element. And yeah both teams and the league itself do this shit all the time. Ghost jerseys, unicolor jerseys all sorts of random variations. All about jersey sales and nothing about brand development.
They definitely wore them for more than a Think Blue weekend. Or maybe you're talking about the Heroes edition, which was even worse
