as if we needed any other reason not to pitch this fucken hack ever again
    • Dan Haren is 5-8 with a 5.32 ERA since the end of April. If he pitches 58 more innings this season, an incentive in his contract will trigger a 2015 option at $10 million.

the way he's been pitching, 58 more innings might be like 15 more starts which won't happen!

    Can we bring in Lee?

What's his deal? We might as well bring him up in lew of Dan Haren sucking choade.

    Hell, bring up Patterson again.

I hate the turd, but Ian Kennedy might be worth a shot if he comes cheap enough.

Scouts have been pretty disappointed in his lack of development. Hasn't really been impressing with his secondary pitches and his velocity has not ticked up like many thought it would with a move to baseball only. Not really sure he is much of an upgrade over Haren right now.

I just really don't want to trade away high level specs for pitching this year.

We all know we have a problem with age, and trading away our young guys and messing with our future is not the way to go.

Are the Dodgers about to dump Dan Haren?

Dan Haren finished last season strong for the Nationals, signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Dodgers this offseason, and got off to a nice start in Los Angeles.
However, since June 1 he has a 6.04 ERA in 10 starts and has served up 13 homers in 52 innings, which is why the Dodgers are seemingly thinking about dumping the 33-year-old former All-Star from the rotation. His being 58 innings short of triggering a $15 million option for 2015 is also a big factor.
Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports that Haren’s turn in the rotation will be skipped at least once, meaning he won’t start again before August 2, and between Josh Beckett‘s impending return from the disabled list and the July 31 trade deadline arriving next week he might be out of a job altogether.
When asked about Haren’s status, manager Don Mattingly gave a non-answer:
Danny has kept us in a lot of games. The last couple haven’t been great. Again, now is not the time to sit here and discuss Danny’s next start or his future or anything else.
Even if Haren sticks in the rotation for now there’s no way the Dodgers will want to be on the hook for $15 million on him next season, so something will change down the stretch.

Again, I haven't seen anything from Lee which categorizes him as anything but mediocre. He may have been balls to the wall when younger and that's why we wanted him, but he looks like a junk throwing journeyman type, with very average velocity. I don't get him at all.
I guess giving almost anyone a shot within the system makes sense, since Dan is pretty much an L now when he takes his turn.
The Dodgers have a lot of roster players that are underachievers, just plainly and simply, without any spin. There are quite a few players that seem on at the end of their productivity, or at least heading headlong for it.
This is what a GM is supposed to have a nose for, not semi-reclamation projects that need to be shitcanned.
Ned's fucking specialty. Mostly always pushes the wrong button.
I guess he'll get extended soon.

A move like this would surprise the shit out of me, though welcomed with open arms.
Dodgers don't have the stomach for it, unless things are very un-Dodger like all of a sudden. Maybe someone finally sees the same shit lining up again to happen, and just maybe enough is goddamn enough.
They'll still put the 3mil+ in the seats, even without Haren, Stan. Still tops of the pops, Gugs.
Even without Ned stinking up the place like always.

I certainly think while ZLee might not ever live up to his full potential that he is better than Dan Haren is as of right now

Patterson is meh IMO; Fife 2.0

I wouldn't be opposed to this, obviously the guy is an asshole, but he's been pitching solidly, an improvement over Haren, no doubt and not that expensive

Kennedy would be a good #4, though... and he's ARB eligible again next season, so he wouldn't be that expensive

    I know he's a doucher

    meh, espn hypothesis/rhetoric fwiw...
    • Jayson Stark of ESPN.com runs down the possible landing spots for Price, calling the Dodgers the favorite, but noting that L.A. has said it will not part with both Joc Pederson and Corey Seager, even in a Price trade. The Mariners are the second choice, he notes, with the Cardinals listed third followed by the Giants and Blue Jays (both of whom are painted as long shots by Stark).

    rosendouche, so (again) fwiw...
    • Though some around the league believe the Dodgers are highly motivated to deal former star Matt Kemp, the Red Sox were not left with that impression after making an inquiry, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. At least three other American League teams have also asked about Kemp’s availability, including the Indians, Mariners, and Rangers, but Rosenthal says that none have made trade proposals. Cleveland and Texas both appear unlikely partners, while Seattle could have an outside chance of adding him. Though moving Kemp poses many difficult questions for the Dodgers, Rosenthal says that the veteran is "at odds" with manager Don Mattingly.

    from stark's article...
    • Los Angeles Dodgers: Still the favorite [to acquire Price]. They have a $241 million payroll. So who has more at stake than they do? They're shopping for pitching. And a Kershaw/Price/Greinke October rotation would be ridiculous. But the Dodgers have told teams all summer they're not including both Joc Pederson and Corey Seager in any deal. And if they don't, there's an excellent chance the Rays walk away. So do the Dodgers relent? "If they're going to ante up for anybody," said one NL exec, "they're going to do it for Price."

A possibility that I read on Twitter was trading Kemp and using the prospects from that deal to package with one of Pederson/Seager for Price. Seems like a long shot though.
