Stewart never seems to hold front office jobs more than a year, his teams don't improve and when a promotion becomes available he gets passed up But he pitched really well 30 years ago.....

I can't wait to see the Stewart video when the Dodgers disrespect the AZ pool again. That high pitched voice will be priceless.
The AZ dilema is interesting and a compelling element in BB overall. Who knows what will happen with the wholesale changes...you just don't ever know. I liked Stewart on the mound , no doubt, but what is his track record as whatever he is now? I do know, that every drink Tony laRussa ever had, shows on him though. Wow. I've seen combat veterans that look better than he does...but I guess his BB brain still is working. I guess that's why they got him, not how pretty he is, but it is a warning to all who over imbibe, so to speak. Looking at the NLW overall next year, I do think we will have a much tougher time with the Rockies and the Padres especially...they will both be far better than they were this season, barring the tremendous injuries like they faced this year, and a player or two here and there. I wonder if there is some kinda job possibilty lurking within our organization for Gibson. He is an historical, iconic LAD, who is still around. Based on his previous disdain for the times we tried to honor him, I would say chances are slim to none. He has come off not only aloof, but disrespectful to us, IMO. And of course, there's always Mac, and Gibby's look of fear when he was grabbed by him.
^^^^Yeah, he played for the Tigers...we all know that. But what he did on the LAD is shown over and over again, always will be, and is one of the greatest moments in Dodger history... in fact, in BB history overall. I don't see how playing for the Tigers diminishes that one iota, but whatever. As good as he was for the Tigers, he never did anything that equaled that HR.

He had a clutch reputation before ever playing a game in LA Sure the 88 WS home run was huge, it doesn't make him a "dodger". He complained to the press about the organization shortly after putting on the uniform and wasn't very happy with his decision to sign there.
As I wrote about in my original post. His disdain for the team is well documented. Whether he was a "Dodger" or not, he hit one (if not the) biggest HRs in Brooklyn/LA Dodger history; the other one was hit by a NY Giant, unfortunately. I always thought he was a scumbag after 88, but it is what it is... he did it, and nothing he ever did will surpass that. And nothing you have responded with has changed my mind. It's still the top achievement in his career. I hope he doesn't find work anywhere, personally. Mac grabbing his throat and the look of fear on his face was what I liked secondmost about the guy, actually. The D on his hat does not say or mean otherwise, and his Detroit clutch rep doesn't mean or change a thing about what he did with us either. He'll find a job, but not as a manager. I think he'd be a good bench coach, but this guy decided to go for revenge on Braun rather than do his best to win a game. You can't have a manager who does that.
