Guerrero isn't a SS anymore and Seager is playing SS for now

curious where we're headed with this
many are saying he's a future 3rd baseman
is this strictly because of his size or does he lack the tools/skills to play short?

He was a HS shortstop... so he knows how to play the position. But I think the projections were based on his size, and thinking he would be too big as he matured.

Also, we haven't had a steady 3B since Adrian Beltre... so it's a position of need.

didn't your wife think the same of you, only to be disappointed later? :poke:

    but seriously
how big [no homo] is too big to play ss?
arod and tulo weren't exactly small when they broke in

    perhaps
but i think if seager is the best shortstop that's where you put him
uribe isn't a "great" 3b, but he fields the position well and doesn't often hurt with his glove/arm

Arod was on roids and Tulo is hurt all the time.

And my wife took a gamble marrying a young guy. I locked it up early and now she makes more money than me... so game, set, match Mouse.

Uribe can also play SS. So if we re-sign him, we can go with whatever combo works best.

We still need to get younger. I like Uribe, but his free swinging isn't going to help us. If Arru can develop a decent bat to go with his glove, we can take a shot at Seager at 3rd.

Or we can bring back Beltre somehow.

Damn, I'm still pissed we let him go.

hoping for the best chance at a smooth transition for Seager, so if he's manning SS with the big club next year, hopefully Friedman will have gotten that divisive clubhouse in order. no more " slap aaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssss! "

that being said, even if they move Seager to 3B, Guerrero isn't likely to be at SS. unless they off-load Dee, Guerrero will probably be in LF going forward..that's if he's not dealt.

yeah, was using uribe as an example
he's obviously not going to be around for the long haul
    not sure on beltre either
he's getting a bit long in the tooth

That's how I feel. I bring in some decent/average bucks, so I do my part, she just happens to make a little more. She manages to spend more too (women be shopping, amiright?), so it all evens out.

Beltre is coming off an excellent season. .324/.388, sign me up. Even if the power is down a little.

Arod and Tulo are the exceptions... I've seen a lot of comparisons between Seager and Tulo because of their size

I think he can stick at SS for a few years and move to 3B down the line (we don't need a 3B..... yet)

Seager's a little taller than Hanley, who's a legit 6'3''. but the thinking is that Seager's not done filling out yet. looking forward they project that he may be a guy who sits in the 230lbs-240 range when he matures physically and that's just too damn big for a SS.

Because Dee was such a stellar SS? There's a reason he got moved to 2B.

Hurry up and wait for our great leader to figure this shit out.

one may say " well, keep Seager down at 210lbs-215 "..it's not that easy to just say you're gonna hold a prospect's potential back. he's gonna get stronger and build more muscle naturally. and muscle adds weight. also, obviously there's a good chance that his power may peak as he gets bigger/stronger, so the Dodgers are inclined to push him to maximize his strength. power around MLB is way down..Seager might hold even more value to us with an increase in strength. he can't be held back because of position..just have to let nature take it's course in his case.

btw, Joc himself is a bit chubby. he needs to take the opportunity this off-season to shape up. maybe those 5 or 6 " warning track shots " he hit in September go out if he's in better shape and a little stronger. great season in the minors..gotta raise the level in every way in the show though.

Seager is tall and lean from what I see, I don't think weight is an issue.
