Seager is sticking at SS, Hanley to 3B in 2016 makes perfect sense...

I would say we're stuck with Uribe - 3B, Hanley -SS for 1 more year

Dodgers expected to extend qualifying offer to Hanley Ramirez
Jon Heyman | CBS Sports Baseball Insider -- 2 hours ago

The Dodgers are expected to extend the $15.3-million qualifying offer to star shortstop Hanley Ramirez.

The move would appear to be a no-brainer -- one agent, who doesn't represent Ramirez, called it "automatic" -- but the Dodgers haven't said anything publicly, which has triggered some Internet debate.

Top players like Ramirez generally get the qualifying offer. There's no question he is looking for a big multiyear deal, and going into the season at least it looked like he might be in line to have Shin-Soo Choo ($130 million) and Jacoby Ellsbury ($153 million) as comps. There has been no recent word of multiyear talks between the Dodgers and Ramirez, however.

Dodgers president Andrew Friedman didn't return messages, and Ramirez's agent, Adam Katz, declined comment.

While Ramirez's offensive performance slipped from his brilliant first year and a half in Los Angeles, he'd still have to be considered an elite hitter at that position. He hit .283 with 13 home runs and 71 RBI in 2014 after hitting .345 with 20 home runs in 57 RBI in little more than a half season in 2013. He was eighth in MVP voting in '13 after playing superbly for the Dodgers in the second half of 2012, as well.

Hanley Ramirez To Receive Qualifying Offer
by Matthew Moreno | Dodgers Nation -- 22 minutes ago

With the conclusion of the World Series and 2014 season Wednesday, free agency officially began Thursday. The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the offseason with seven free agents, which increased to eight when they declined the team option on Chad Billingsley for 2015.

Their total number of free agents is also slightly skewed given that Josh Beckett announced his intentions to retire after the Dodgers were eliminated from the National League Division Series. One of the biggest question marks they face is what to do with Hanley Ramirez.

Unsurprisingly, the first step in addressing Ramirez’s free agency will likely be the Dodgers extending the qualifying offer to the shortstop, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

By offering Ramirez the one-year, $15.3 million deal, the Dodgers would receive a draft pick if Ramirez to sign with another team prior to June. Ramirez was traded to the Dodgers in 2012 and filled an immediate need at shortstop.

Although he began the 2013 season on the disabled list, Ramirez returned as one of the hottest hitters in baseball as the Dodgers completed their turnaround to win the NL West title. The bar was then set high for Ramirez in 2014, which proved to be a frustrating and injury-plagued season.

Ramirez battled various injuries but to his credit, or perhaps detriment, only landed on the disabled list once — with an oblique injury. The 30-year-old shortstop maintained his contractual status did not affect him throughout the year and got defensive over his decline in production at the plate.

The dip in Ramirez’s offensive output left the Dodgers in somewhat of a bind as his defensive range and glove aren’t among his strong suits. The Dodgers have until 2 p.m. PT Monday to present Ramirez with the qualifying offer.

No brainer obviously but if he turns that down he's a moron. He's not going to get that average salary anywhere IMHO.

He wants security. I'm sure he'll turn it down knowing the Yankees are out thee. Someone will offer him a multi year deal and he'll have a miraculas run of good health and put up MVP numbers again.

he gets a contract easy. some team will say fuck it and take the hit.
its the best for all parties. we need to become a pitching and defense team. and then we get 2 first rounders in the draft, get to keep building the farm so when all our guys get old we can build on the cheap

This shouldnt even be up for debate
you have to give him a QO

It's a win win for the Dodgers

    Scenario A: He declines
You get the draft pick and go move on with what would probably be a glove first SS

    Scenario B: He accepts
You would be paying a 3-4 win player (basically if he equals production from this year) only 15M.
There is the chance that he stays healthy and puts up 2013 numbers which would be 5-6 wins over the course of say 140 games.
Then theres the chance he's injured for the majority of the year. But the likely scenario would be him equaling last years production which is still great production especially at a 15M price tag

Idk how we lose in this tbh

I personally think he will get that salary fairly easily and probably more. this isn't the early 2000's.
