Hanley was the best hitting SS in MLB last year... "don't care him to Brandon Crawford" HA!

and the RedSox got a steal at 5/90, this is bullshit.

Sounding like Pablo Sandoval is also reportedly going to Boston for 102 million over 5 years.

Pablo 3 x World Series Champion and a terror in the WS, HanRam oft injured and can pout so I think he should get more than Hanley. Overall a good spot for him especially with the Dominican Godfather Big Papi there. We're going to miss him but 5 years is a bit long given his fragility.

" out of the lineup stats " are part of the problem. unreliable.

Pablo is younger, has had less injuries (I think) and can legit play defense. Plus, he is a fucking monster in the post season.

Yeah, he's fat, but that has never seemed to really stop him from playing well. It's completely possible that they value him more over Hanley to give him more money/years.

not unreliable at all. Facts are facts. Wins and losses are the name of the game and the Dodgers much played better with him than without him.

you missed the point. Hanley is unreliable and " out of the lineup " is part of the problem with giving him a big ass contract.

but now that we know his deal is in the neighborhood of 5yrs/90M ( my guesstimation weeks ago)..you can finally come up with a contract that Hanley would sign to stay with the Dodgers, right? because not too long ago you said i was assuming that you wanted to give him a big contract, as if you didn't. OK, now you can elaborate..

I'm not happy in the slighest that he's gone. I loved Hanley. I know why we decided not to resign him because of the liability he is defensively, but I won't crack a smile without knowing who the hell will replace him.

i don't think anybody is happy to lose next year's potential 5-hole bat in the order..however, as long as fans understand the multiple reasons for the decision to let him go, and don't try to make it seem like it's " unbelievable " or the incorrect move, then we can come off as a smart fan-base collectively. i'm sure the new FO already understood that they weren't gonna be able to make fans happy all the time. it's the nature of the job and they obviously have experience.

Red Sox signing Pablo and Hanley makes no sense considering their current 2015 rotation is projected as:
    Buchholz
    Joe Kelly
    Rubby De La Rosa
    Allen Webster
    Brandon Workman
Might be by far the worst in baseball.

so you're counting them out on Lester and these other arms?

if they sign Sandoval and Hanley, i wouldn't be mad at you if you assumed that they'll be spending on pitching in the near future. one might take those potential signings as a signal that they're all-in.

I'm not, but right now, that is pretty damn bad. Don't know if they are really going to try to afford 3 18+ million dollar contracts in one offseason. Putting themselves back into the hole they were in before we bailed them out of it

I'm pretty sure they're interested in Lester coming back, too.

is it really a hole, though? they just gave themselves another chance by giving out money again, and hope it works out this time.

well, both Hanley and Sandoval have warts, so if they sign both of them to a combined 10yrs then yes..they will be in the hole at some point.

and that goes for Lester too. but it's just 2-3 years of being in the hole. not forever. fans have a tendency to act like it's " fooooooooooreveeeeeer! " because they wanna win every year, but it's not.

Man, it seems pretty "cheap" to me. Ethier only got $3 less per year

Yeah, I don't really understand the Red Sox either. They buy everyone, and then realize that they can't do that anymore, and then they start buying everyone again. But because it's the Red Sox, it'll work out perfectly.

He's gone, and all this BS about the money and the time he was signed for doesn't matter one goddamn bit. If he's there he's there.
At least they are trying, and if they spend a billion of their money, so what. What does it matter to us? we didn't do it, so we have to "understand" what NerdCo is doing...and what...embrace it? WTF are they doing? Getting it all in line?
Build up the minors for the future and for when players go down...OK, that's sound. and so, what about now?
Who knows what we will have going for us when these kids are ready? maybe CK won't have the ERA in a few years that he's had....maybe Greinke will be gone...maybe Ryu will have additional ass problems....maybe an offense of Puig and Agon will be a fizzle (if we move Kemp for who knows who) and not be enough to win the NLW again. maybe the manager won't know what to do with all this Beanish talent. Etc., etc. How much money has to be "saved" for Stan now...how much does he need? Well, there is Peralta...
I'm wondering if all the money saving measures are more important to some Dodger fans and make them prouder (living vicariously as ML GMs through these guys?), than actually winning? Maybe being elite is the nadir for the Dodgers now...getting to the post for less salary than the others?
I'm saying that being right about signing a player who is a supposed "bargain" money and time-wise is the victory for some, and not getting to the WS and end the looking up the SF Giants skirts again as they collect championship after championship is meh. If it happens , it happens. WTF is going on?
If we have to spend money to get players to finally get what it's all about for Dodger fans, some anyway, then we should do it. It's about time. NOW.
I almost hope Boston does sign them both, and fucking wins everything. It almost reads like the ultimate prize in BB is changing for some.
But we can say, "wow our minor leagues are awesome...wait 'till the new "Joc" comes up- then we'll be something. And we got them all so cheap".
Wonder what the timeline is on all this ?
