the most you can say about the Pads' rotation is that it has " potential ".

    Luebke..hasn't done shit since 2011
Ross..is just coming off his 1st full year as a starter and he was decent
Cashner..has the most potential out of all of them..also has the most ailments of all of them. hasn't been above 175 innings at all ( only been above 130 innings twice), just turned full time starter himself
    Kennedy..again..blah
Despaigne..you don't need baseball reference to know that he didn't set the world on fire. 65K/32walks. not a scary ratio.
Josh Johnson..nothing more than a #3 at best when he's healthy

they pretty much have a bunch of guys who COULD all reach the same level, but none are gonna be aces or scare anybody.

    so..No.

The Padres will be better, but still aren't bettter than a Wild Card spot IMO.

2.81 ERA/3.24 FIP is better than decent in Ross' case. Cashner has ace potential. Johnson when healthy could be one of the better #3's in the game. Kennedy is a formidable guy at the back of their rotation. Despaigne/Luebke could and should be very suitable as #4 or #5's. Their bullpen is also way better than anyone else's in the division.

8:51pm: With the Kemp deal almost finalized, the Dodgers are similarly close to finalizing the Rollins trade, CSNPhilly.com’s Jim Salisbury tweets.

SD doesn't look bad anymore at the least. Cashner Ross is a good 1 2 punch. They should be battling sf for 2nd:p

that's possible. wouldn't surprise me if the Giants fell back.

seems like everybody the Padres add have some kinda ailment or are coming off injuries. half their rotation is either injury prone or coming off multiple ailments..both Kemp and Norris have their health issues and Myers is coming off a broken wrist. they have to find some stability from somewhere. i mean it's gonna be hard to beat out one of the NL Central teams for a wild card spot and that's a given, but the Mets are coming on fast too. and the Marlins are gonna win games as well.

That is the weakest division in the NL. WSH maybe Miami have shot at the playoffs in that division only.

Because in business, when 1 party gets overzealous and shows their ass, the other party will take advantage. The dodgers showed their ass last week letting it be known they had other trades waiting on this one to go through. And like I said in the other post, I read somewhere in the am (don't feel like going hunting for it) that the pads new about his ailments prior to the trade. Nothing to do with being psychic on their part or anyone else's. AND, physicals that athletes go through do check. How do I know? Because A) I have athletes in my fam(not baseball, but lacrosse and soccer across the pond, B) have friends who have played in the majors, C) have friends that work for an sports agent and D) my sister is a doctor who operates on athletes on the regular.

Glad it finally went through. Must have been some angry convos taking place the past 2 days

I still like many teams over them in the NL like us, SF, San Diego, Pitt, Milwaukee, Chicago, STL, Washington, and possibly Miami and Cincy.

Long term speaking here. I'm just curious who our 3rd baseman in 2016 is going to be and eventually in these next couple years, we're going to need a LF to replace CC/Andre, is Schebler/Verdugo the answer there? Plus Gonzalez is not getting any younger as he'll be 33 in May. Hopefully Grandal is the answer at catcher, but I am not convinced. That's where Barnes/Leon come in. But we're going to need to either get young studs at 1B, LF, and 3b in our system through the draft or go get someone at each of those positions who can be long term answers.

Padres just got Justin Upton. gotta respect that lineup. he has the same problems with breaking balls that Kemp does, but still a respectable lineup

Mets might be on the verge of getting Tulo.
