As a general rule of thumb, I find that the best political statements by athletes are the ones they don't make.

 

A sixty something's tax return issue:

"I just received an audit on my tax return for 2014 back from the IRS. It puzzles me!!!
They are questioning how many dependents I claimed.
I guess it was because of my response to the question:

"List all dependents?"
I replied:

12 million illegal immigrants; 3 million crack heads;
42 million unemployed people on food stamps,
2 million people in over 243 prisons;
Half of Mexico; and 535 persons in the U.S. House and Senate.
1 useless President.

Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer.

I keep asking myself, WHO DID I MISS?

Hey did I miss a discussion on "American Sniper" by any chance? With all the BS about it, no one brought it up?
I don't think the guy was a coward, because all countries use snipers, and always have; and all's fair in love and war.
I think he had the spirit and psyche of a hero, and cared about the other men genuinely, and was willing to sacrifice a normal life over and over again, because of his extraordinary warrior skills. Not a hero in the Audie Murphy sense, but it all may be semantics.
Incredible how his life ended after his service was finally over.
I know some people who are way down on him because he is supposed to have lied about smacking Jesse Ventura...even if he did bullshit about that in his book, how does that change what he did as a soldier (SEAL)?
The Navy saw fit to give the guy two Silver Stars, not handed out to just any grunt with a weapon.
Any opinions?

That said. Never slam a veteran of any kind.

It takes balls to enlist. You risk so much to serve. Do they all do it for their country? NO!
But by the time they get out, they realize they did because of what they go through and they should be treated accordingly.

If you are anti vet, you are not American and you should live in Mexico, Iraq, Africa, Lebenon or Syria and tell us how much greater it is over there than here!

Anti-war, yes.
Anti-U.S. foreign policy, yes

I know what you mean, but I think you mentioned in a past post you were a sixty something. I could be wrong.
Do you remember (I know I do), upon coming back from service, in the sixties, from overseas, and people saying lots of nasty stuff to me about killing innocents...and in other places, I couldn't buy myself my own drink while in uniform.
It was the worst of times and it was the best of times...
Code Pink is pretty anti-vet. But they are anti-everything and everybody, so I don't know if they count.
