If simply moving from shortstop to third is going to destroy his mentality, then he's not going to be a very good major leaguer.

    Maybe.

But maybe he'd just be a better major leaguer at short. The argument is valid, why jeopardize a future star to accommodate a fading star?

I just want to see him in blue ASAP tbh. Don't really give two shits where.

If Rollins is a declining player at the end of the year, then that's another issue. But if he is seen as one of the best options for our infield, then having flexibility with Seager is great. A lot of players can play multiple positions, and a lot of players (especially young ones) change positions. So honestly I don't get the fear.

Corey is going to play SS in the majors at some point, I have a feeling a lot of SS. But there are few faster ways to the majors than being a 3B for the Dodgers. And who knows, maybe Corey is called up in June to play 3B and he becomes a fixture there for the next 15 years... Never to return to SS... Hold on, I need to change my underwear-

I get it, but...we control Rollins for this one year. We control Seager for the next 6 years, possibly at less of a cost than J-Roll for one year. True many players change positions, but many players struggle with the change, which could take years off of their MLB careers. IF (caveat) he's younger, cheaper, better...why put him through it?

    maybe its just me
but it seems silly to even consider changing him to 3b
after uribe, there's both guerrero and olivera
at short, after jroll there's... guerrero and olivera [technically]
if seager had bad range, poor hands, bad footwork or some other defensive liability i'd get it
but everything i've seen and heard shows him to be a plus defender at ss

I get where you are coming from. Seager is a much higher priority than Rollins. And I don't debate that.

I just want to have my cake and eat it too.

There's a very real chance this whole issue becomes moot. Seasons are long, and a lot of things can change. Olivera should be on his way soon. Who knows how Rollins will hold up. I don't mind Seager padding his resume with some 3B play, and any path to the majors is welcome.

They aren't moving him to accommodate swan song Rollins.

If he breaks into the league at 3B it's because he's ready for the show. He can go back to short in 2016.

Anderson has been on fire since last August. It might not be too late for him to live up to his starter potential.

I don't think Corey is so fragile mentally that he'd be a lesser player at either position. As a clarification most baseball people PROJECT him as a 3rd basemen EVENTUALLY due to his size ala Ripken and A-Rod. There's absolutely no reason in my mind that he could buck that convention and be our SS for years to come.

But A-Rod only moved because of Jeter.

Yeah and why not give him a small amount of reps at 3B in case something crazy happens and he needs to play 3B in the majors soon. Doesn't hurt. Also read today that the Dodgers plan is still for him to play SS but are giving him a start at 3B once a week

I was just going to say, I think he actually played 3B for one game - and he's been back at SS for last few days.
